"Just a regular coffee, can I please get some milk and sugar in there?" even in the back of the store, separated by walls and nearly a decade of time, the voice was unmistakenble.
Adrenaline fueled anxious thoughts, trying to quickly make sense of the situation about to unfold.
'No way, no way, no way, no fucking way.'
How many Tedtalks had preached that thoughts could shape reality? Maybe if she thought desperately enough, that Yonkers accent would end up belonging to someone else. Anyone else. Just please not Jon. Even after so long, Amanda felt her cheeks flush in shame at the memory of the last time they had seen each other. They had not dated for long, but the fallout of her actions had still stayed with her. Had shaped the way she treated people, specifically men she dated, now as a grown adult. Still stuck inside the freezer, she could see the hurt on his face vividly as he stood there with a bundle of flowers. Was she going to have to face those feelings now, after so long, while wearing an apron?
"Yo, Mandy do you need any help?" Kevin stood in the doorway, startling her into movement.
'This kids got no idea' As the thought crossed her mind, she felt the customer service smile plaster itself across her face and assured him that she was fine "Thank you for asking though, Kevin. What time did you want to take your break tonight?" Following the barista through the doorway that separated the front and back of the store, green eyes met her's immediatly.
They stood for a moment with surprise suspended between them. Then the shit-eating grin that had been his trademark pulled up the left side of Jon's face "Hey, you."
Kevin turned slowly back towards her, with an expression of curiosity that Amanda refused to acknowledge. Releasing a heavy breath, she handed the large tray of sandwiches to him "Can you please stock these? Pull the donations and FIFO whatever else is in there. Is 7 okay for your break?" the teen gave a slow but affirmative answer as he took the tray from her and left for the furthest fridge behind their counter, where he would no doubt be eavesdropping for details to report to the groupchat later.
Jon had been a tough kid. Even at 21 years old, his work ethic had given him a roughness that made him seem older. But this was a fully grown man in front of her now. His broad frame had filled out with adulthood, the blue uniform of his vocation made the built shoulders and chest beneath appear Herculean. The strong angles of his face had matured with age and a shadow of stubble spread over a strong jaw made already startling green eyes seem brighter.
"Long time, no see." Stirring sugar into his coffee, Jon spoke with an easy tone that made Amanda fully certain that he could see how uncomfortable she was. But Amanda felt her left eyebrow lift on it's own, felt her bodyweight shift to one side while placing her hand on the counter. She felt her attitude powering up, bringing to mind the image of an angry Sayan preparing for battle. They both knew that sentence was a damn lie and she was not one to play coy with. Replacing the lid of the cup, Jon cleared his throat and corrected himself "I did see you the other day, didn't I?"
Glancing towards the teenager at the far end of the counter, Amanda noted that Kevin's eyes were fixed squarely inside the fridge as his hands moved as slowly as possible. With only an hour until their closing time, there had no leverage to distract or dismiss him from the vicinity. There would be no privacy and this situation was going to be as embarrassing as she feared. "Jon, you know you did."
"Yeah. You're kind of hard to miss. Especially with that red lipstick."
Amanda answered with a slow blink. Was he flirting with her? There was no way he was flirting right now. Again, her anxiety rose. This kid, now a man, could still throw her off kilter much faster than she would have liked.
"Yeah, and you're kind of hard to miss with -" she finished the sentence with a small, circular motion of her hand that indicated his entire face. Jon shifted his weight back, muttering a sound that could only be described as bashful, and - was he blushing? It had been easy to make it blush in their youth, it was almost refreshing to see that had not changed. 'Look at this kid' she thought to herself. Fully uniformed, gun holstered at his right hip, and blushing in the middle of a Starbucks.
And despite her best effort to stay in the present moment, Amanda could not push away the memories of the last time she had seen him blush.

His hands were in her hair, holding it back from her face as her mouth slid towards his base. A small sound escaped his mouth as the tip of his length hit the back of Amanda's throat and she swallowed, constricting the muscles around his cockhead. Pulling her head back and sitting her height onto the heels of her feet, Amanda lifted her eyes to Jon's gaze.
