Freya sighed as she waited on the park bench. She was impatiently tapping her foot, checking her phone at regular intervals. Served her right for being early. All she had to go off was a strange text from a girl she barely knew, and now that girl was late to the meeting she'd arranged.
Despite her frustration, Freya did her best not to let it get to her. The message
had
sounded rather urgent, even if it hadn't really told her anything. She shared a couple classes with Nadine, and they'd made small talk a couple times before. Nothing major or noteworthy. Contrary to her own outgoing nature, Nadine was rather shy and mostly kept to herself, at least from what Freya had been able to tell. One time she'd actually seen Nadine on Tinder, and even swiped right on the girl out of interest. But there was no match, so she figured it wasn't worth pursuing. She'd assumed that would be the text message. Which had ultimately led to her current annoyance of having her time wasted.
Still, she was willing to overlook being a bit late. Freya considered herself to be a patient and understanding person. Provided there was a good reason for all this in the first place.
Just as she was about to send another text message asking Nadine where she was, the girl emerged from around the corner. Her cheeks were flush and there were drops of sweat visible on her forehead, which brought Freya a strange bit of satisfaction. She shook her head, trying to dispel the thoughts of pettiness from her mind. Nadine clearly needed something, and she was pretty cute as well, in a nerdy sort of way.
"So. Extra strange matter that you can only explain in person, and need to talk to me about in private right away. Is that it?" Freya cocked an eyebrow as the other girl came to a halt in front of her, still breathing heavily from her rush. Although she wasn't actually upset, Freya wasn't going to pass up on the chance to make her squirm a little. And squirm she did as she struggled to meet Freya's cool gaze.
"I... it's... sorry, I'm not even sure where to begin." Nadine was awkwardly licking her lips as she spoke. "You know, it's probably better if I just show you. Then we can figure out where to go from there." Before Freya could react, Nadine pulled up her shirt. Not the whole way up. Just enough to show off her midriff. Or more specifically, what was
on
it. A simple set of words were written in plain black lettering on her skin, clear as day, right on the side of her abdomen.
Freya Dolhorn's Personal Slave.
"It appeared when I woke up this morning. I think it's a Soulmark." She paused to let the words sink in, to let Freya comprehend the full implications of what she was saying. "If this means what I think it does... I'm yours to command. You own me now, Freya, however, was still feeling rather sceptical. There was one major concern on her mind before she was willing to fully believe what Nadine was saying.
"Okay, but Soulmarks or whatever the fuck you're calling them aren't real. Like, that's not a thing that's ever happened to anyone." She was still trying to wrap her mind around what Nadine's plan was. "You're saying those words showed up on you out of nowhere and now you're just magically bound to me?"
Nadine nodded. "It's true. I get that it's not common, but I've heard legends about this type of thing before. Where somebody gets a mark on their body, and it indicates who they're bound to by fate. Often it's romantic, but sometimes like this it's... steamier."
"Sure. And these legends, of course they're about real people and not just fanfiction, right?"
A fierce blush spread across Nadine's cheeks. "Look! I don't know how it works either, but these words appeared out of nowhere. And I have this strange innate sense that you're the type of person who would enjoy the, um, sexual nature of having control over someone."
Freya immediately narrowed her eyebrows, her expression transforming into a fierce glare. "You think I'm someone who will just get off on owning somebody like property and taking control of their sex as my own?"
"No! Um, of course not!" Nadine was quick to backtrack her own words. "I didn't mean to imply that, and obviously I wouldn't try to put you in that sort of situation. That would be absurd."
"Shame. Because I totally am into that kind of stuff and that scenario sounds really hot." Freya smiled as she watched Nadine's eyes bulge at her forwardness, and her subsequent efforts to try and salvage the conversation.
Nadine's mouth hung open for a moment, evidently lost for words. Then, with a start, she snapped her fingers and returned to attention. "See, I was right! I should've trusted my intuition. That's the only way I could've known you're into that kind of stuff. Like I said, it's proof that our fates are intertwined somehow!"
Freya shrugged her shoulders. "Sure, but I'm also part of a few local kink groups. Also I've got "kink friendly" and "domme" on my Tinder profile. So while I don't go around advertising it, it's not like it's a deep hidden secret of mine either." She paused for a moment to tap her chin. "Speaking of which, was there a reason you didn't swipe right on me? If we were meant to be or whatever, that probably would've been an easier place to start than the universe giving you a magical tattoo."
There was a moment of silence between the two of them. Nadine was staring at her feet, looking somewhat bashful. "You... you swiped right on me?"
"I did, but I guess you're not interested. Which is a shame, because you would've made a really cute sub. Oh well." Freya kept a blank face, masking her emotions and forcing Nadine to be the one to escalate further.
And escalate she did, although she did so at her own slower and more awkward pace. "I-I'm sorry for that. But it's not too late! See, this must be fate at work, righting the wrongs of the universe, because we're
meant
to be together. How else could you possibly explain this magical writing on my body?"
Once again, Freya looked at the girls' midriff, although this time she stared at the words with much more scrutiny. Although they were clearly written, there was a bit of a shine to the lettering, with strange bumps and ridges along her skin. "It looks more like it was drawn on in sharpie than any sort of divine cosmic intervention."
Nadine baulked at the accusation. "What? They certainly do not! Or even if they do, it's just a part of how the magic works. This is absolutely not written in any sort of a marker."
