June gets a call from her lawyer and asks me to attend.
The police drug squad's search of the bar at the time of the arrest, located over 6 grand worth of drugs and about 10 grand cash. They believe they just started dealing.
Allan is looking at 15-20 years; Jim 20-30. Everything of Jim's and Allan's was confiscated.
Because the majority of the sex shop mortgage, bar and house were paid off while Jim was a juvenile and good bookkeeping on June's part; they found no influx of drug money into the business's, so, the house, bar and sex shop weren't seized or affected.
The felony clause in the original documents leaves June with both businesses and the house. The lawyer complimented us on our astute actions. New titles are ready for June to sign.
June arranges a time when Carmen, Sherry, Mary, and I can meet. With Carmen and Sherry working opposite hours, Saturday morning seemed the best.
We sit around the kitchen table.
"Major changes in my life, I feel overwhelmed. I know I need some business/financial help. Carmen you and Doug were instrumental in what transpired saving my house and businesses. I have given this much thought."
"Carmen if not for you seducing Jim; then telling Doug about Jim's boasting, I wouldn't have known his plan to oust me; I would have lost everything. So, I would like you to take over management of the bar, be a 50% owner with a wage double your current salary; I will also implement bonuses."
"You will start with a $50,000.00 budget for startup costs. When we have a business plan, I can go to the bank for whatever is needed for renos, this is a business, so I will use loans rather than my cash."
"I want you to get rid of the old English pub vibe and bring in a more upbeat crowd. Maybe a private room, bottle service, etc., I am open to all legal, ideas. I would be a mostly silent partner; as I don't want to run a bar, but as an owner I want to have some say."
"I uh ya I think so, wow, I'm very grateful; yes, but I want to talk it over a bit with master and Mel for some info to be sure, I don't know if I qualify to run a bar." Carmen looks at me with excitement and fear both visible.
"Sherry, I would like you to manage the sex shop, I would retain majority say in operations. I will be an advisor; your monthly salary will be much higher than your current job. You would be the manager not a clerk; and with a good staff your time will be yours. Currently the shop can handle 1 full and 1 part time employee so you will do management duties: ordering, PR, staffing, etc."
"I no longer wish to work there; I do want to participate in those 'Surprise Shows' that you do."
"Oh, that's a definite Yes" she jumps up and gives June a big hug, Sherry comes to Mary and me.
"This is another thing you are responsible for; you are the best," kissing us each on the lips.
"Oh my God, that's fucking awesome. What time; when June, fuck I'm so excited." She's bouncing around, jumping up and down.
"Li are you interested in something?" June says.
"June I really love my teaching job. I'll help, some part-time at the shop, definitely the pop-up shows," she giggles;
"But no, I don't want any change. My life is pretty perfect."
Sherry whispers in Li's ear; Li whispers in my ear, I nod, and they head downstairs.
"OK, Doug," she adjusts herself.
"You're a very smart businessman and I know you already have your security company. You're mainly responsible for me being in this lucrative position. A month ago, I would have lost the sex shop, the bar and my house if not for you."
"Doug, I know you don't want any reward. No decision required; it's done. I already have the papers drawn up by that awesome lawyer you got me. You will be my partner in both businesses at 40% of the bar and 20% of the sex shop. You will not be required to work, but I would like to count on you as a consultant."
"Now." June places both hands on the table, she stands "Based on the noises I hear downstairs, I think I'd like to explore the talents of my newest employee" Chuckling.
"I understand Carmen, if you wish to talk to Doug right now; but I'd like you to join me. Remember, this all started because this was caught in you" she lifts her middle finger and waves it as she heads downstairs.
"Master my head is spinning, I have all kinds of thoughts bouncing around." Sherry looks at me with a very worried look. I stand, I go to her, put my arms around her.
"Take your mind off it; go downstairs and join the excited gals, you saw how excited Sherry was; go, let her share that with you and June; we'll talk this through later."
"You just always know what's right master; damn I love you." She kisses me and runs to the stairs.
