The car slowed to a rolling stop in front of the gently illuminated house, creating a faint crunching sound as the wheels crushed loose pavement. That decelerating sensation was enough to wake Cal up from his light nap in the passenger seat.
"Hey, we're here dude," said Jason from behind the sedan's wheel. Cal groggily sat up and looked out the window.
The stucco house was sizable, a contrast to Cal's own modest hometown residence in Colorado. Its front lawn was decorated with gravel, cacti, and various other desert plants. Cal raised an eyebrow, impressed.
"Let's gooooo," Cal whooped, opening the car door and painfully lifting himself up into the warm California night air. His legs were stiff from the 10 hour drive Jason and he had just completed.
Cal and Jason had been thrown together by chance as roommates at the dorms of Colorado State University this Fall, and had become fast friends, bonding over their mutual interests. They even had the same favorite band, which was the central reason of their road trip.
This weekend was a three day weekend at school, and the Death Mallets, Jason and Cal's prog rock/metal heroes, were playing in LA at a venue not far from Jason's childhood home. The two boys planned a trip as soon as they saw tickets on sale. As a bonus, Jason's parents were out of town so they would have the house to themselves. Or so Cal thought.
The two tired friends walked into the house, laden with luggage.
"Hey loser!" called an unfamiliar voice. "You ready to party?" The slender girl confidently strode around the corner to greet and subsequently punch Jason in the arm. Jason feigned pain playfully.
Cal's heart leapt as he recognized the tattooed girl as Jason's older sister Lizzy. The two had never met, but Cal had secretly looked at her more provocative posts on social media, and had fantasized about her more than once. To make matters worse (or better depending on how you look at it), she was dressed only in short water shorts and a bikini top. Her hair and body were wet, making it obvious that she had been swimming or hot tubbing. Apparently she was also taking advantage of the empty house while Jason's parents were on vacation.
"And who's this?" She said, turning to face Cal, looking up at him with a swaggering glance. Cal swallowed, a bit flustered.
"Oh yeah, this is Cal!" Jason interjected. "My concert buddy."
"Nice," she replied, throwing a final casual glance at Cal, making his heart flutter once more. After a few more remarks with Jason, she turned and left out the sliding door to the back patio, where another attractive girl, presumably Lizzy's friend, was waiting in a hot tub. Cal tried to covertly follow her with his eyes, admiring her legs and ass. He looked away soon after, not wanting to be seen by Jason or Lizzy or her friend.
The two boys unpacked, and then lounged on the spacious living room's couch. Cal hoped to see more of Lizzy, but she didn't return from outside.
