For the next few days, Jack and Su were living their own life, gran and mum were staying in gran's rooms in the house. Mum and gran had both messaged Jack to let him know that they were doing this. Jean had messaged Su to say that she was so happy that this was happening and to take this time to get to know Jack.
Jack and Su were getting to know each other; they were spending so much time together. Su was cooking breakfast every morning though they ate out at lunchtime and the evening. Su went to her office every day; Jack had gone with her. He now understood why she needed to upgrade her IT system. Jack had written a very pertinent email to the Consultant that was advising Su. It must have been embarrassing for him as he immediately reduced the first figure by fifty per cent.
Joe had phoned Jack to tell him that he had handed his notice with the Company he was working with, they had terminated his contract immediately, this was to prove to be the end of this Company. Jack invited Jo to meet him at Su's office. Jack knew all the answers to the assessment that he asked Joe to carry out on Su's IT system in her three offices.
Two days later, Joe came back with his recommendations; they were identical to what Jack had in mind. Su would save millions and have a better system. Su gave the go-ahead for the suggestions, Joe was now employed by Su's Company, but that was to change several weeks later when Joe and Jack's old Company went into Liquidation. Jack bought it; they reemployed all the excellent former staff who all knew that they had a more secure future with the new Company.
Joe then became Managing Director of the new Company with Jack as Chairman. The original Company took over the support of Su's IT system. Su was pleased as she now had a system with lots of growth and handled the day to day running of her business correctly with state of the art security.
When this was initially discussed between Su and Jack it brought them so close together, Su realised that Jack was working in her best interest. She felt so pleased about this. Jack had told her about it over dinner in a local Indian restaurant. It had ended a lot of worry and stress for her, the thought of paying out three million without having planned for it, she could afford it, her father had told her always to keep a full war chest for those times you needed money and didn't have to ask a bank for it, Su was happy.
As they walked home, they had over fourteen good restaurants within a ten-minute walk of Jack's house, Su said, "Jack, would you like to go away for the weekend, we have a country house, it's very grand. My great grandfather built it last century; we rent it out to a private Hotel Company, they run it very well, excellent food and wines. There's a great golf course that's attached to it, I know it's a bit cold for golf, but they've also a wonderful Spa, shall we go for the weekend?"
"Sure, how did you manage to own a Hotel?"
Su smiled then said, "My father thought it was the best thing to do with it, it was our family house, but nobody was living in it. The running costs were huge. When it was being built, my great grandfather wanted a golf course. It's an excellent course, the family-owned and still do some huge estates, farming and livestock are a big part of these estates."
"My grandad wanted my father to study accountancy and join the Army, he did, and he learned so much. The Ministry of Defence has so much agricultural land. Dad learned so much. Then there was a natural disaster in the Cayman Islands, a lot of Army and Navy property was destroyed. Dad was sent out to organise the finance for the reconstruction. He was amazed at the offshore business that was being done there. With my grandfather's assistance, he bought two parcels of land there. He developed them; one is now our office there, the other is a beautiful, durable house with gorgeous sea views which we rent out with full services to clients that are not comfortable in Hotels."
