"Hello?" I answered the phone.
"Hey Randy it's Lisa."
"Hey what's up?"
"Do you still live in the same apartment?"
"Yeah, why?"
Knock, knock, knock.
I opened the door, still on the phone with Lisa, who was now standing right in front of me.
"Hey!" I said, giving her a hug as I hung up the phone. We had cell phones now, talk and go!
"Hey Randy, so good to see you again!" As she held our embrace a little longer, finally letting go.
"Come on in. I got a couch now, I'm straight ballin now!" Trying to keep up with the lingo, failing miserably.
"Don't ever say that again goofball!" Lisa said as she play punched my arm.
"Want a beer?" I asked as I grabbed one.
"Sure! Hey, where's Tammy? I thought she moved in with you."
"She did for a little bit, then she met James. They got pretty close and she lives with him now."
"Oh, so you're alone again?"
"Yeah, but I'm so busy between classes and gigs I am hardly ever here."
"Gigs?"
"Yeah, I joined a band on campus, lead guitarist. We play tomorrow night at the club, if you're here why don't you come?"
"Well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about."
"...ooohhhhhkkkaaayyy..."
"I can't live with my grandma anymore. She drives me insane. Always telling me I dress like a slut, I should be ashamed of myself when I go out, I just can't take it anymore. I talked to mom alot about this and she agreed I probably need to move out and start my own life, or I would end up like her, single and living with mom."
"Again, ooohhhhkkkaaayyy..."
"Can I stay with you until I can get on my feet and be able to live on my own? I'll get a job and help with the bills, I don't want to freeload." She said.
"I don't see why not. I mean, we lived together once and it went ok I guess."
"Just ok huh?" She joked as she play punched my arm again.
"You know what I mean, we didn't kill each other, and now that we've grown up maybe it'll be different."
"Yeah, I thought so too, but we haven't seen each other in 4 years."
"I know, I'm sorry. My truck is about wore out, I don't know if it would've made that drive in one piece." I really missed her as I quickly learned.
"Ok, so you're good with me staying here for a bit?"
"Sure. You already got your clothes in your car?"
"Yeah..." She trailed off in a cute little voice.
"Let's go get them and get you settled then."
We brought in a few baskets of clothes, some dishes April let her have, and a TV. We got all of the stuff inside and sat around the living room. We sat down for a minute, tired from hauling all of it in.
"I can't thank you enough for letting me crash here."
"Oh, stop it, you don't have to thank me, we're family."
"Actually, we aren't. We haven't been for years now."
"Oh, yeah, I guess you're right. Huh, crazy," I awkwardly said back.
"Ok, so where do you want me to put stuff? I don't want to be in your way."
"Well half the dresser is empty, and half the closet, so go for it. Where do you want the TV?"
"It's your house, you tell me?"
"OUR house, say it with me..."
"Ok ok, sorry it's just that I don't want you to feel like I'm trying to come in here and take over, I'm not. I'm grateful you even let m..."
I cut her off as I pulled her into me and kissed her. I couldn't help myself, I had to, I needed to kiss her and let her know nothing has changed between us.
"Oohh!" She moaned into my mouth, as she let go and returned my kiss. Now, things were good again, as we broke our kiss, her arms around my neck and mine around her back.
"Wow that was unexpected," she whispered.
"Not from my side it wasn't."
"Well, duh goofball!"
"So, let's attack the elephant in the room," as we let our embrace go and sat on the bed.
"...ooohhhkkkaayyyy..." She sarcastically said, smiling.
"Smart ass. Anyway, you're right, we haven't been family for a few years now. I like you Lisa, alot. You're incredibly sexy, smart, and I just happen to know, really good in bed."
Another punch, a little harder this time as she laughed.
"Where is this going Randy?" She asked seriously.
"Can I take you to dinner tonight?"
"Like, a date?" She laughed.
"Yes, like a date, but really, a date."
"Umm...you sure about this?"
"Why, you're not?"
"Yeah, I just want to make sure you mean it."
"I do, I would like to take you out and see where this goes." Leaning closer to her.
"Ok. Guess I better put my stuff away so I can get ready. What time are you picking me up?" She laughed, leaning closer.
"I'll swing by around 6:30?" our lips inches from touching.
"I think I'll be here." She whispered, as we kissed.
This wasn't a normal kiss. It was passionate. Neither of us closed our eyes or looked away, we kept eye contact for the entire kiss. It seemed to last for hours, when in reality, only about 20 seconds.
We broke our kiss, noses still touching.
"Randy, mom was right. I am in love with you," she whispered, tears pooling in her eyes.
"Then why does that make you cry?"
"I'm scared."
