A little while back I did some reading of a couple of the classic story collections of literotica, one being the backseat genre and the other being the snowed in genre. I was keen to give both of them a try after that, and this is my first attempt. This is my take on the snowbound story, but from the perspective of a third character, the roommate of the son.

I slammed the door behind me and dropped my bag on the floor. I was buried beneath layers of clothing, from the thermal layer at my core to the puffer jacket on top. I pulled off my woolly hat and felt strands of hair fall untidily onto my face. My expression must have been a picture, because my roommate was laughing at me.
"Fun day at work?" he teased. I narrowed my eyes, staring daggers through him as I unzipped my coat and let it fall to the ground behind me.
I left for work at 08:15. It was barely 9am when I made it back to our flat.
I almost choked myself to death yanking off my scarf as I walked across the room to our living room window and pulled the blinds to one side. "Come and tell me what you see." I said, forcing him off the sofa.
He joined me and stated the obvious. "Snow. Lots of snow."
"Look a little bit that way," I said, guiding his eyes in the direction of my car. "There's something really cool just over there."
"Is that your car?" he asked.
"It is indeed."
He started a low, chesty laugh that lasted until I buried my fingernails into his forearm. "Looks like it's in a ditch to me," he said through gritted teeth.
"You're right. It's in a fucking ditch."
"I guess you're taking the day off then." he said, stating the obvious once more.
"They never should have asked us to come in," I moaned, walking away from the window and lifting a sweater over my head. "So stupid. I made it about 100 metres but the entire road is an ice rink. I just started sliding. There's no way anyone is going to be interested in pulling that thing out of there in this weather so I just have to leave it until the storm finally passes and even then I have no idea how damaged it actually is because there's a fucking metre of snow surrounding it in the embankment."
The snow had been coming down for days. This country can't prepare itself for heavy snowfall at the best of times but we were breaking records this time around and everything was falling apart. The south of England had become a winter wonderland, but with grit suppliers running dangerously low on resources and more snow forecast for the rest of the week, the roads were becoming death traps and the entire country was at a standstill.
Despite all of that, my boss still tried to drag us into the office. Now my car was in a ditch.
"You shouldn't have agreed to go in." Josh said.
"I know."
"Do you want a coffee?"
"Yes please."
He moved towards the kitchen as I fell face first into the sofa, tossing aside the duvet he had been underneath when I arrived back home. The heating had been on seemingly nonstop for days and I was still wrapped up in a couple of layers. I was sweaty enough. "Why are you up so early?" I shouted his way as I rolled onto my bum and started pushing thick joggers down my legs.
"I need to get some work done as early as possible. I have plans today, remember?"
I didn't remember. I was too busy thinking about my car. "He should have just told us to work from home."
"You need to say no to him sometimes." he said, providing me with his usual guidance.
"Thanks dad," I said sarcastically, before accepting that he was probably right. "I haven't even told him I'm not coming in yet."
I went searching through my belongings to find my phone, before sending my boss a picture of my car and an explanation for my no show. He told me it was no problem at all and that working from home was for the best at the moment. Nice one dickhead. I really don't take advantage of my teacher's pet sucking up enough but working myself to the bone to save up for my eventual migration had been paying dividends so far, and I was too scared to rock the boat and ask for even the slightest conveniences.
Josh placed my coffee on the table in front of me and then joined me on the sofa. "The long johns are pretty sexy." he said, giving me something to laugh about.
"I was sweating putting all of this on this morning."
"There's no need for all of this when you were supposed to spend most of the day in the office. Surely you could have survived the journey to and from the car."
"You don't understand how cold that car was," I argued. I took a first sip of my coffee and then decided a quick release might be good for me. A cure for my stress. "Do you wanna hook up?"
He laughed again, but shook his head. "I can't. I've got a pretty stressful day ahead of me, you know?"
"As stressful as a car in a ditch?"
"I have to go and collect my mum and I have no idea how that's going to work in this weather."
I completely forgot his mum was visiting, though I was more surprised she was
