The Airplane
Rick gave himself some time to think of how he was going to pull off the next dare. He buried himself in work. He was embarrassed to speak to Julian after
the game
, and didn't even chat much with Pauline. He called her briefly before her party, but they had agreed not to talk about the dare before they both completed it.
Sunday afternoon, he received a cc'ed email from Pauline, proving she had done it. There was no text, just a single image. The photo showed Pauline, nude and elegant, sitting on her living room couch, surrounded by a bunch of fully-dressed people. He could only guess as to who the other people were. The only other person he recognized was Maxine. But it did look like everyone was having a good time.
There was no backing out now. But how would this work? He decided he needed some help, and Julian was the obvious person to ask.
Rick read over the text of the dare again:
DARE: invite some friends and acquaintances to a party. Without warning anybody in advance, as soon as at least two members of each sex who haven't seen you naked before have arrived, announce that a dare requires you to get completely nude. Take off your clothes, and stay that way until the last guest leaves. Send a photo of you from the party, fully nude, with at least two members of each sex, fully clothed.
He called up Julian.
"Rick, a phone call? Who calls these days?"
"I do, Julian. I need some ideas. And nobody has ideas like you." He explained the parameters of the dare.
"Yo, what about a pool party, like you used to do?"
"Why didn't I think of that? You know, I think my parents are going to be out of town next weekend. I could use their pool. We just have to make sure to clean up before they get back."
"Sweet!"
"Let me check when their flights are," Rick said, while checking his email on the computer.
"We could have like, chicks, and burgers, and booze, lots of booze! Maybe some weed ..." Julian started rambling.
Rick interrupted him. "Ok, they're flying to San Francisco Friday night and back Sunday afternoon. So we can do a Saturday party, and clean up on Sunday. I've got keys. This could work. But who do we invite?"
"I've got a bunch of friends who would be happy to come," Julian said.
"Yeah, but it needs to be people I know, who won't freak out. And I want to keep it small. It's no good if my parents' neighbours call the cops."
"How about some of the old crowd from high school?" Julian suggested.
"I'm not really in touch with them, aside from you."
"I'm still tight with a few. You ok with Jim and Randy?"
"I guess," said Rick. It had been almost ten years since he'd been close to those guys. It seemed safer than his current friends or co-workers.
"Tell you what," said Julian. "I'll handle the invitations. I'll start with them and round up a couple chicks too."
"As long as you think they won't freak. Keep it to a minimum. Like ideally only us and four others. They have to know me, but nobody I'm close to."
"Don't worry about it. I got this, Rick."
They discussed the address and a time, 3 PM Saturday so there would still be plenty of daylight but nobody would expect lunch. Rick felt much better about Julian doing the inviting than doing it himself.
Later in the week they discussed numbers, and Julian confirmed they would be just six people, and that they knew to bring bathing suits and towels. Rick was so nervous he forgot to ask specifically who the other guests were.
* * * * * *
After lunch on Saturday, Rick and Julian met up at the old house to set up. As expected, there was nobody home and the place was clean. The pool was warm and good to go.
Rick put some beers and coolers in the fridge, set up some chairs and put out some snacks. It really felt like old times when they used to have pool parties, back when he lived at home.
There wasn't much else to do, so they pulled out an old game console from when they were young, and hooked it up to his parents' TV. It was just like their high school days.
At 2:55, the doorbell rang. Rick answered to find Jim and Randy, looking similar to how he remembered them. Jim was tall and wiry, his familiar black wavy hair was now a bit thinner, and grey in places. Randy had his same mischievous smile, but he had grown a bit of a pot belly. Like Rick and Julian, they were already in their bathing suits and t-shirts. They handed Rick some snack food and joined them at the games.
"So, who else is coming?" Jim asked.
"Yeah, I hope this isn't a pool party with no girls," Rick laughed.
"Don't worry about it," Julian assured them. "The girls will be here soon."
About ten minutes later, the doorbell rang again. Rick approached the door nervously. He didn't know who it would be, but if both women showed up, he would have to get naked immediately. He opened the door to see only one woman. He didn't recognize her. She was pretty short, slim, with a wispy fake-blond pixie cut and big sunglasses. Her low-cut orange summer dress showed off a nice figure, with small perky breasts and toned arms.
"Rick! Wow! It's been ages!" she said, leaning in for a hug. "How've you been?"
"Great! I've been great! And you?" She must have been someone from high school, but he couldn't remember her.
"Very good. So, is this mansion yours? You must be doing very well for yourself."
He laughed. "No, this is my parents' house. I live in Queen Anne. Come on in." They walked into the living room. "You remember Julian, Jim and Randy?"
"Of course!" she said. "How are you guys?" There were hugs all around. Everybody seemed to remember her except Rick. Nobody mentioned her name. As they were catching up, Rick pulled Julian aside, into the kitchen.
"Julian, I don't recognise her. Who is she?"
"Yo, that's Sara. From math class. Remember?"
"Ohhh. Wait, little nerdy Sara with the pimples and the overbite? Sara who never talked except to answer the teacher's questions?"
"Yeah. She looks different, right?"
"I'll say!" Rick was surprised. "I guess we look different too."
Rick thought it might be less awkward to get naked if they were at least already all down to bathing suits, so he invited everyone to the pool. Jim and Randy didn't hesitate. They ripped off their shirts, kicked off their shoes and jumped in.
"Wait," said Sara, looking a little uncomfortable. "Is this everybody? I mean, am I the only woman coming?"
"Yo, chill." Julian told her. "The other girls will be here soon."
Sara went into the bathroom to get changed in private. Rick whispered to Julian, "did you say other girls? Like plural? We agreed we'd only be six people. How many people did you invite?"
"Relax, Rick. Just two other girls. I didn't want it to be too much of a sausage fest."
"Ok, but who?"
Before Julian could answer, the doorbell rang again. Rick rushed to answer without thinking. As he opened the door he realised that by the rules of the dare he would immediately have to announce and fulfill the dare.
Despite not having seen her in years, he recognised Lucy immediately. She was half-Chinese, with long, straight jet-black hair, big brown eyes and an infectious smile. "Rick!" she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around him.
"Hey Lucy, it's been forever!" Rick said. She was in great shape. She wore a simple black tank top over a sports bra, with tight red yoga pants.
They exchanged pleasantries as he walked her into his parents living room. By now Sara had emerged in a cute two-piece bathing suit, black with white outlines and thin straps. She greeted Lucy warmly, and headed out to the pool. Julian had already joined the other guys outside.
"I guess I better get changed too," Lucy said. She pulled off her tank top even before she reached the bathroom. Rick stood unmoving in the living room, nervously, not sure how he was going to do this. It took him a few seconds to notice that Lucy was getting changed without bothering to close the bathroom door. She was standing just inside the doorway, facing the mirror, and had shrugged off her sports bra and her yoga pants. From his vantage in the living room, Rick could clearly see her nude back and her cute butt in just a black thong. He wondered whether she meant for him to see or if this was just a happy accident, when she called out, "Oh Rick? I seem to have forgotten my towel. Can I borrow one?"
"Coming!" he called, sprinting to his mother's linen closet and back in record time. When he entered the bathroom, Lucy had already replaced the thong with a red bikini bottom, and was adjusting the straps on a matching red bikini top, sexy but not too revealing. "Here's a towel," he said, trying not to sound disappointed that she had gotten changed so quickly. "Go on out to the pool. I'll meet you there."
