Tod arrived for his next appointment with Margaret at the blind school. Arriving early, he took a seat and waited for Margaret. She arrived about ten minutes after him. He watched her walk down the main staircase. Margaret seemed to float down the stairs. Her dress flared out around her legs. She wore a high-necked, cornflower blue dress. It showed off her body perfectly. He was still trying to work out if she was wearing a bra when she bid him good morning.
"How did you know where I was?" he asked as he stood up.
"your deodorant, it has a woody undertone! And it's quite distinctive!" she smiled as she extended her hand.
Tod remembered to laugh, not just smile. Margaret took his arm as they walked up the stairs. They chatted as they walked.
"Anything interesting happen lately?" she asked
"Not really, just a visit to the theatre!"
"did you see anything good? I love the theatre, and opera too!" she said.
"Not really. I was doing a background story on how theatres operate."
"That sounds interesting."
"Yes, it was quite educational, really." he said.
Jayne was sitting at a table, with her laptop ready as they entered the room. Tod sent a good morning message to her. Jayne had one hand on the printer as he typed. The printer was a small one, similar to a receipt printer that you'd find in some stores. Jayne read the printout; then she typed her reply. A voice spoke from her laptop in reply. "Good morning Tod, how are you today?"
Tod laughed at Jayne's efforts to make him feel welcome.
"We installed a voice program for people in Jayne's situation; what do you think?" Margaret asked.
"Brilliant!" he answered and sent Jayne the same message." Jayne gave him a huge thumbs up as she smiled.
It turned out that Jayne had written the program herself. Working in computer science and research had its benefit's.
He asked her how she felt she was adapting to her new life?
Turned out that Jayne had had a breakthrough adapting to her new life. She even had a new man in her life. The new man turned out to be a twelve-year-old boy, going through the same issues as Jayne.
Margaret sat listening to them talking; it made her heart sing to hear Jayne laughing, even if it was through the computer.
Tod left Jayne laughing, and she even kissed him goodbye
As they walked back to the foyer. Tod asked how Jayne's treatment was going.
"Right now! They can't see why Jayne is deaf and blind. Physically, there is no permanent damage.
She will have one more brain scan, then we'll have a better idea of what's happening." they had stood talking in the foyer. Tod said goodbye and held his hand out towards Margaret. She moved inside his hand and hugged him.
"Thank you." she whispered in his ear. "I really think your why she's changed; she was so looking forward to today."
he laughed as she let him go. She squeezed his hands as he left.
He went back to the library. To only Lucy at the reception desk. Emma had an appointment at her dentist. They talked for a while as Tod got a cart ready to take into the library when the manager's door opened.
"Could I see you for a moment Tod!" she asked, and she turned, leaving her door open. He followed her, closing the door behind himself.
Jean stood behind her desk as she spoke. "It would appear that you've not been working your normal hours care to explain?"
Tod had been expecting this. He took a letter from his back pocket and handed it to Jean.
"As you can see, I've been doing part of my English course work. I could have sworn I sent you an email about it?"
Jean sat down and opened her laptop. After clicking through her emails, she looked up at Tod.
"Hmm, looks like I missed that one. Regardless, you should have informed me personally!" Jean tried to keep her focus on his face. She failed as her eyes wandered to his groin.
"Can I return to work now?" Jean just nodded in answer. Closing the door as he left with a smile on his face.
"your like the cat that got the cream!" Lucy was sitting at her computer as tod emerged from jean's office.
"care to share?" she asked him.
"nothing to tell really, just Jean flexing her muscles." Lucy had her eyes fixed on his cock.
"I know which muscle I'd like to flex." she looked as if she was ready to pounce. Tod just laughed.
"Maybe when Emma gets back, I could help you with that!" he answered as he pushed his cart towards the lift. He left Lucy chewing her pen.
Two hours later, he was sitting at a computer. He was trying to find the best way to get close to Miriam Wilson. Her views on interracial marriage didn't stop her working with other ethnic groups. She had political ambitions and knew the value of diversity. That's why she employed a cross section of the community, blacks, whites, Asians, and the indigenous people. She obviously had the right sort of people around her. He needed another way!
Her social media was clean. He couldn't find anything he could use. So he started looking at her background; that's when he found his way in.
A police report from when she was eighteen. She'd been arrested for assault. During a night out, she'd defended her boyfriend against two black males. Her boyfriend was hospitalised with a broken arm, and cuts and bruises.
A newspaper got hold of the story and ran a small piece about the incident. The charges were eventually dropped. The two men didn't want the ignominy of being beaten by a woman.
The interesting part was her boyfriend, wasn't her boyfriend! They were engaged to wed next spring. Her fiance was white!
They broke up the following Christmas. Miriam never married. Tod began looking into her social life again. He found what he was looking for.
The black swan was a venue and night club. So exclusive, you had to be proposed by two existing members. His next stop was the careers page for the Black swan. Half an hour later, he had an interview for a server's job. He sat back after the confirmation; hopefully he would get the job. Then, the hard work begins.
The Black swan was everything he expected. The interior was designed for privacy and comfort. The main seating area faced a large stage. The bar area was small in relation to the room, it looked as if only two people could comfortably work there.
During his interview, he was told that they used table service. Areas will be assigned to each waiter.
Whilst the pay was only minimum wage, the tips more than made up for it.
The woman who interviewed him also had him measured. He would get two uniforms, which would be a plain white shirt and black trousers.
Once his background check had been confirmed, he would start his training. Which would be two days. It was all very businesslike, even down to having to sign a non-disclosure agreement once he started.
Life moved at a slow pace for a while. Not much was happening at the library. And his mom and sister were away visiting his grandparents. Even the cat/demon had not disturbed his sleep for a while.
He'd finally cot confirmation from the Black swan; he was going to be training there the following week.
He'd spend his evenings working through the list. His research into the doctor, Linda Fordham. Nothing so far. The only thing he found useful had been the fact that she worked with the physiotherapist, Gillian Anderton. Linda Fordham specialised in muscle injuries hence her connection with the physiotherapist. He would have to come up with a way to visit the doctor.
Tod had been sitting at his laptop most of the day. it being Saturday he had little else planned. Closing the laptop, he sat on his sofa and turned the TV on. He decided on a movie. The film was just starting when his phone rang. It was his cousin, Sofia.
