This is a long story with much build up. It is completely true.
I am not sure how many wives are out there with secrets but some of mine are wonderful and have enhanced my life. I recently experienced one of the most exciting weekends while trying to get some time away from my husband for a girl's weekend with my cousin.
I recently went to Ft Lauderdale to soak up some sun and celebrate my cousin's birthday. The plan was to relax; no husbands, no kids, no work...just totally relax. I arrived on Thursday night and she picked me up at the airport. We went for a quick drink and then to my timeshare.
We had both been struggling in our marriages and had a lot to talk about. She lived in the area but was going to stay with me β away from her husband and four children and the problems that came with them. I was in counseling with my husband and needed a couple days off from my stresses at home. We talked until 3 AM and finally crashed in the king-sized bed, looking forward to the next day by the pool.
At 7 AM, we were awoken by her cell phone. Her husband was already having trouble managing the household and one of the kids was sick and crying. After a lengthy argument with her husband, she dressed, left the room and headed home to deal with the crisis. She promised me she would be back as soon as possible.
I showered and slipped into my favorite 2 piece bathing suit. Grabbing a big cup of coffee, I headed to the pool area. The resort was nice and not very busy, about which I was thrilled. I wanted quiet. I fell asleep and tried to let go of all the problems I had left behind. I didn't expect to come to any resolution but just wanted a break from the stress and fighting of a tumultuous marriage.
I must have slept for over an hour in my chaise, when I heard someone's voice yelling from behind me. I sat up and turned around to see a man standing on the dock next to a sailboat. He was yelling to a young man who was chatting with a couple girls on the other side of the pool. He noticed me when I looked and apologized for yelling.
"No problem" I replied, "do you want me to get his attention?"
"Do you mind? The kid is killing me!" he explained.
I got up from my chair, still a little cloudy from my nap, and headed closer to the pool.
"Excuse me, but I think that gentleman is trying to get your attention" I said to the young man.
"Shit! I got to go!" said the young man.
He thanked me and sprinted toward the sailboat. I jumped in the pool to cool off and returned to my chair. I sat up and watched the man and his young mate prepare for their sail. From what I could tell, the man looked to be in his forties and in great shape. He had sandy brown hair and was wearing cargo shorts and sandals. He had a golden tan, a baseball cap and sunglasses. His mate, the young man, was simply adorable with curly brown hair and a great build. He looked like a surfer type with surfer shorts, a tank top and flip flops. I enjoyed watching them and wished I had a sailboat.
The older gentlemen barked an order at the mate and within 10 minutes they we ready to go. The mate noticed me watching and yelled over to me, "Want a job?" I laughed and said that it certainly looked like more fun than what I did for a living.
He chuckled and yelled back, "Bet your boss is nicer!"
The boss leaned around the corner after having heard this and waved with a frustrated smile. Off they went. I then called my cousin.
My cousin was not going to be able to get back to the resort until early evening. Our plan was to head out for an early dinner and maybe hit a couple bars. I told her about the two cuties that were on a sailboat docked nearby and she reminded me that this weekend is all about the girls. We laughed, I hung up and I returned to my tanning.
After a couple more hours, I went up to the room and showered. Before heading out for lunch, I called home. My husband answered on the first ring and, as I could have predicted, we ended up in an argument, hanging up mad at each other. I tried to shake it off and wished I had not called home. I called my cousin to complain and tell her to hurry up. I was getting bored and needed a distraction from my problems. She said she'd be there as soon as she could.
I decided to take my time getting ready and have a drink at the outside bar over-looking the boats. I put on a short sundress and sandals. The sundress was very sexy with a low cut neck that really showed off my breasts. After primping, I headed to the lounge.
The lounge area was outside with a view of the harbor. I ordered a margarita and struck up a conversation with the bartender. He was very nice and easy to talk to as most bartenders are trained to be. I noticed that the sailboat from earlier was not back and I wondered where they went. I asked the bartender about the boats and the people who owned them. He seemed to know everybody's business. He explained that most of them were from the Northeast and had a place in Florida where they kept their boats in the winter months. Sounded nice to me and I was sad to think about all these happy people with vacation property and boats. Grass is always greener, right? Actually, not true according to the bartender. In his opinion the money made them crazy and they were all dysfunctional. We laughed and I thought he was probably right or wanted to think so anyway.
By now it was early evening and before I had another drink I figured I would check in on my date. When she answered her cell phone, she was screaming that her husband was an asshole and she may not be able to leave until all the kids were down for bed. I was aggravated but decided to have an appetizer and another drink with my new bartender friend. The bar was not crowded so all his attention was focused on me and he was easy going and funny.
After my third margarita, I thought I had better call my cousin and see if we were in for a long night. I told Bill to watch my drink and excused myself to make the call. She didn't answer.
When I returned to the bar, I noticed that the sailboat had returned to the dock and the young mate was onboard cleaning. I did not see the captain.
I returned to my spot at the bar and Bill had made me a fresh drink.
"Well, how late are you working?" I asked, "I think my date is blowing me off".
He explained that he was there until 10:00 but would stay as long as I was still there.
By 9:30, I assumed that our plans for the night were foiled and I didn't bother to call again. Now I needed dinner. I asked Bill to suggest a place to eat and he asked if he could join me.
"Sure, why not?" I answered.
I wasn't up for anything formal and he suggested take out. Bill said he had a good friend with a boat and would often sit on the deck with a drink after his shift. I wouldn't have to change or even leave the area in case my cousin showed up. We ordered meals from the kitchen and at 10:00, grabbed a six pack from the bar and walked down to the dock to dine on the friend's boat.
"Do you know the guy who owns that boat?" I pointed to the sailboat from earlier as we approached.
"Sure do. It's Mitch's boat. That is where we will be dining."
I laughed and told him about the exchange I had with the men earlier. Bill explained that Mitch used to come up with his wife but she had recently left him for her boss and now he spent a lot more time in Florida than he had ever before.
"See," Bill said, "not all as good as it appears".
Bill explained that he had met Mitch 6 years before and they had become good friends. Bill would look after his boat when Mitch was in New York. He explained his life and how he ended up in Florida after his divorce. He was pretty happy living a simple life as a bartender a couple nights a week and running a charter boat during the day. Bill was boyishly handsome with a half-cocked smile and a great personality. I liked him.
We sat on Mitch's beautiful sailboat with our fried clams and beer and talked about life. I never heard from my cousin again and hoped everything was alright at home. Bill had gotten a couple calls on his cell phone but didn't take them. I wondered if there was a lady in his life who was wondering where he was.
Finally, he took one call and I overheard him talking to the caller, "Don't worry about it. It is fine. I promise. Just call me in the morning."
He looked at me and explained that the caller was Mitch, the handsome sailboat captain. Mitch had called the bar and was informed that Bill was dining on the boat with some woman....me. They were supposed to go sailing early in the morning and Mitch was worried that Bill was partying on the boat and it would be in rough shape for the morning sail. I took that as a cue to end the night. We cleaned up and walked back.
I thanked Bill for entertaining me all night and we made plans to see each other the following night for a drink with my cousin. I couldn't wait for him to meet her. We hugged good night and I told him to have a good sail. I got back to my room, stripped naked and masturbated. I was a little tipsy and very horny from an evening of flirting with Bill. The attention felt good. Although the night hadn't gone as planned, it was a good night. I liked my new friend and I drifted off to sleep without expectation of the next couple days.
The next morning, I got an apologetic call from my cousin explaining how badly the day before had done with her husband.
"I actually had a good night with my new friend Bill from the bar, you'll meet him tonight. When are you coming?" I asked.
"You hung out with a guy? C'mon! This is a no boy weekend!" she exclaimed.
I explained that he was harmless and I was glad that he was around to entertain me.
She was dropping her kids off with her mother and coming right over. I got up and put on some shorts and a tee to walk down for a cup of coffee. I got coffee and walked over to the pool area looking to see if the sailboat was gone...it was. I wondered if Bill was on time or if Mitch was mad that we were hanging out on his boat. Oh, well. I shouldn't worry about it and decided to put them out of my mind and focus on us girls.
I got ready and waited for my cousin by the pool. She arrived about 10:00 and announced that she was already in need of a drink! She was really angry with her husband who had decided to go golfing and she had to find other arrangements for her kids. She convinced her mother to take them for the day and possibly the night so we could spend the day together. Her mother took the kids begrudgingly but she was still pissed.
She pulled a chair over next to me and we whined and complained over a Bloody Mary. We were starting to feel the effects of the alcohol in the warm sun and were both quite relaxed by lunch. We decided no lunch but maybe a nap and then we could plan the rest of the day. I told her all about my new friend and we thought maybe we could convince someone to take us for a sail. Relaxed and happy, we napped by the pool with fantasies of better lives and cute deck hands.
By 2:00 we were moving again. I looked over to see that the boat was back. I was immediately excited and pointed it out to my cousin.
"Nice boat!" she said "Is he married?"
We laughed and I explained everything I knew about Bartender Bill and his friend the handsome Captain. My cousin reached over to find a cocktail napkin under a stone on the table between us.
"What's this? A note from Bill?"
He must have seen us and snuck a note on the table without waking us. The note read: Hope you lovely ladies slept well. Meet me in the bar after 4:00. xo Bill.
We looked at each other and laughed. No matter how hard we tried, it never ended up being a "girls only" weekend.
"This is YOUR fault!" she snapped sarcastically, "Now we have to join Bartender Bill for free drinks!"
"Things could be worse...he could be ugly and make us pay for our own!"
