A warning to all my readers. This chapter has deer hunting in it. It's nothing graphic but there are some deer that are taken. If that bothers you then read carefully and skip over it.

We were on top of the world again when Monday morning rolled around and we showed up at school. Teachers and students alike congratulated us as Jordan and I headed off for our first class. There was a pep rally just before lunch on the football field for us. We showed the trophy off to the school before handing it to the principle so he could put it on display in the trophy case in the gym.
We left the field and headed to lunch. I finally found Jamie. It was the first time I had seen her since the other night.
"Hey beautiful," I said grabbing her arm.
"Hello," she smiled. I suddenly wanted to kiss those lips again.
"I heard you guys had a wild time at the beach the other day."
"Yeah," I smiled.
"I wish I was there."
"I drank a few for you," I offered.
"I heard," she giggled. "Your dad said you didn't get out of bed until the afternoon."
"I was a little hung over," I laughed. She giggled with me as I held the door for her to head inside.
"What are you doing tonight?" I asked. "I was hoping we could do something."
"I bet you are," she said slyly.
"I wasn't thinking like that," I said.
"I'm just kidding Owen," she giggled. "Even if I was." Her eyebrows raised as she looked up at me.
"Well," I said. "What are you doing tonight?"
"I have practice here then practice at the dance school. I don't have time tonight."
"What are you practicing here?" I asked confused.
"Cheerleading practice," she said.
"But football is over."
"Well duh," she giggled. "There's more to cheer for than football Owen."
"There is?" I joked.
"Basketball," she sassed.
"Right," I laughed. "I forgot about that."
"There's a game tomorrow night," she said. "I'll be there. Maybe you can come and hang out with me."
"I might just do that," I offered.
We left the line with food to go and sit down. I had just parked my ass in my seat when Jordan came flying through the lunch room to find me.
"Owen," he called.
I turned to see him stop right behind me holding a letter in his hand.
"I just got a letter from North Alabama," he panted.
"Ok," I smiled.
"They want me to play football for them."
"That's great," I cheered.
"Great?" he quipped. "This is fucking awesome."
"I know it is," I smiled.
"It's not the big time like you," he offered. "But it's something."
"It's better than nothing."
"Fuck yeah," he cheered. "Where is Kelly?"
"In line," Jamie pointed.
He turned quickly and ran right into Bobby. Bobby twisted around keeping his tray under control as Jordan dodged around him and raced to the line now to find Kelly.
"What's he all assed up about?" Bobby huffed, taking his seat.
"He just got his scholarship offer for college," I smiled.
"Lucky guy," Bobby smirked.
I smiled as I turned back to Jamie. She was smiling too as I picked up my food and resumed my conversation with her.
Even though football was over Jordan and I still found ourselves on the field after school was over. I knew what college wanted from me with my off season workout. Jordan now had something from a college and a new found motivation. He and I spent about an hour running routes, conditioning, and doing a few footwork drills. After that we both hit the school gym and lifted for another half an hour before calling it a day.
The next day we repeated the same thing after school. Jordan and I hit the field to run a few routes and do some conditioning drills. Then we hit the gym again and lifted before calling it a day. I went home to eat a quick bite before returning to the school for the basketball game. I wasn't interested in the game really. I wanted to spend some time with Jamie.
"Hi Mrs. Heart," I said as I got to the pay station to get inside the gym.
"Owen," she smiled. "Congratulations on the big win."
"Thank you."
"Oh," she smiled as I tried to hand her a five. "You can just go on in."
"Are you sure Mrs. Heart?"
"Shhh," she said. "Go on."
"Thank you ma'am," I said.
I slipped into the gym. It was just starting to get crowded as the JV game was coming to an end. I noticed Jamie at the far end of the gym. I started down the bleachers as Charlie shouted my way.
"Yeah Owen. You the man!"
I could only laugh and shake my head before I waved at him. I continued on my way until I found Jamie.
"What's up girl?" I said.
"Girl?" she sassed. "I'm just girl now?"
"Well," I smiled.
She just smiled at me as I thought. I leaned in close to her ear and spoke.
"I was going to call you sexy but I didn't think that would go over very well."
"You don't say," she sassed again.
"Especially in that little cheer outfit," I added.
"Hmm," she growled. "You want to know something?"
"What's that?"
"I'm not wearing any panties under this little skirt." Her smile was devious as she looked at me for my reaction.
"You still have shorts on under them though."
"How do you know?" she teased.
I gave her a questioning look as she waited for my answer.
"You do don't you?" I questioned.
She just giggled her little giggle as I looked at her. She smiled at me one last time before she turned and headed to the concession stand to get a drink. I was left standing there seriously wondering if she had shorts on underneath or not. It sparked my interest and I wanted to find out now if she would be so daring.
"Owen," Mr. Hutch called, stopping me for the moment.
"Yes sir," I said.
"Congratulations on the big win the other night."
"Thank you sir."
"That trick play was something else," he offered.
"We practiced it once a week and we finally got a chance to use it," I said.
"We ran something like that back when I was on the team back in the day," he started.
"You don't say," I said. My mind was so caught up on Jamie right now I wasn't hearing half the stuff he was saying.
"Yeah, but we..."
I half listened to him for a minute before he stopped and waited for my response.
"Did you win?" I asked, taking a stab in the dark now.
"No," he sighed. "We ended up dropping the pass."
"I'm glad we didn't," I said.
Jamie smiled at me as she passed by heading back into the gym. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Thankfully Mrs. Pinto walked up to him with a question. I took the chance to slip away and follow Jamie.
"Jamie."
She glanced over her shoulder at me but continued on without giving me a response.
"Jamie," I called. I chased her like a little puppy.
"I have to get ready to cheer Owen," she teased. "Go sit and watch the game."
"Why must you do this to me?"
"You shouldn't have kept me waiting the other night," she answered.
"But I thought I made up for it?"
"Hmm," she growled. "You did but I can still hold it against you."
I sighed.
"Go relax for a while. I'll see you at halftime."
"Ok," I sighed.
Sitting near her would only torture me more. I sat a few rows away from her and pretended to watch the game. I was solely focused on Jamie at this point. I don't think I even saw a minute of the first half. She was glowing as she saw me watching her. She knew that it was killing me that she was playing hard to get.
The first half ended and they took the floor to do a cheer. I was watching until I got a text from Bobby wondering if I was going out tonight. I started my reply as Jamie walked by and waved softly at me. I watched to see where she was going. She went back into the girl's locker room. She glanced back a few times before she disappeared. She was being so flirty right now and it was killing me.
My phone started vibrating again as I sighed. I pulled it out and looked down at the text from Jordan now.
Dude, where are you?
I'm at the basketball game.
What the hell are you doing there?
Hanging out with Jamie.
Have fun then. I'm at the Williams' house again. Fridge full of beer.
I'm not drinking on a Tuesday.
More for me and Bobby.
You guys enjoy. Maybe Friday I will head over.
Beer will be gone by then.
A blue pair of short shorts hit my lap as I started to text my reply to Jordan. I looked up to see Jamie had passed by. She looked over her shoulder at me and smiled a dark smile at me again. I put my phone away and took the shorts in my hands. I stood and followed after Jamie.
"What are these?" I whispered once I caught her.
"What do they look like?" she asked coyly.
