This is an entry to the
Literotica April Fools Story Contest 2025
. Your votes and comments are appreciated. Please be aware that this story is located in the incest category but is meant to be a darkly fun take on both the incest and horror genres. Hopefully the trick is obvious by the end, but I understand if my dark humor doesn't fit the bill or expectations of the contest participants and readers. Regardless, thank you for reading, voting, and commenting!

My family has always been protective of me.
I hardly ever saw dad growing up, but mom was an ever present light in my life. Much like me, she had long golden blonde curls and oceanic blue-green eyes. We also shared a natural soft pink flush, cream-like complexion, and dusky pink lips. Different from her, however, was my build. Where mother had thick curvy hips and voluminous breasts, I had gently curved hips and small breasts. I also wore glasses and she didn't.
My brothers looked much the same as me and mother, just taller. A lot taller. Where mother and I barely stood five feet, both of my brothers were well over six. Henry was taller than Johnny, though he was also two years younger, and both were athletic. They ran like the wind carried them and it was a beautiful thing to watch.
Some parts of our family were not quite normal, I supposed. We kept late hours to accommodate Daddy's schedule. He was a researcher who did a lot of nocturnal studies. Keeping him awake during the day with our rowdiness was a no go, so we were up when he was, even if he stayed in the basement the whole time. We often had people stay over in the guest suites for his various studies. Most had to do with sleep disorders. Sleepwalking, talking, eating, sexual urges while asleep, that kind of thing.
It could be scary to encounter one of Daddy's subjects walking around the upper floors during the day. They always seemed dazed, but mother made them breakfast with a smile as she ushered me off to my room to sleep or play, depending on just how into the day we were.
I rarely left home growing up. There were playdates with other kids and events mother registered me for through the local school district. A program to prevent home schooled kids from being left out of extracurriculars. I tried out a few, like painting, drawing, even running, but that was clearly the domain of my brothers as I tripped on my try out then never went back.
I did, however, find companionship and interest in photography. Which is where I met my best friends, Mina and Damion. We all posed for one another. Always trying to get the most daring and unbelievable shots. Damion won shortly after he and Mina graduated from the local public school, though he also got in trouble for his idea. I dangled Mina from a cliff and he took the photos from over my shoulder. The smell of fear radiating from her, a mix of musk and sweetness, was fascinating, and alluring, but I didn't dare say that.
She was never in any real danger, mind you. A rope was cleverly concealed beneath her clothes, a harness about her waist and thighs and up over her chest and shoulders that came up and out of her sleeves and into mine, then down my legs and back to Damion's truck. Mina and I might have weighed two hundred pounds together, so we were both quite safe, but her fear was primal, and so beautiful. Once we pulled her back to solid ground, I held her and comforted her for a long while. Then we swapped places and she dangled me over the side.
The adrenaline that flowed through me was thrilling and, unlike Mina, I couldn't stop laughing for fear I might cry. My eyes were wide and I was in a euphoric high from the sheer terror of of mistakes that would've sent me to my death.
But that was when Damion got into trouble. My loving brothers, ever my shadow, heard me scream with delight and came to my unnecessary rescue. They chastised both Mina and Damion and I'm quite certain a fight would have happened if I hadn't insisted I'd volunteered.
I kissed my friends goodbye then Johnny whisked me away while Henry continued to scold them. Both Mina and Damion rolled their eyes and smiled at me. I smiled back and bit my lower lip, completely ignoring Johnny's lecture. He regained my attention after they were out of sight.
"It's not safe Kayla," he insisted. "It doesn't matter that you were secured, it's not safe to rile yourself up like that. Don't you feel how quick your heart is beating?"
"Yes, and it was amazing! It's like my entire body was washed in sensations. My skin tingled and I could taste the pollen in the summer air. It was..."
"Unsafe," he finished, with a sense of annoyance in his voice. "You're lucky we got to you when we did."
I rolled my eyes and squeezed his hand. "I'm eighteen, I'll be going to college soon. Are you and Henry going to follow me there to make sure I have no fun?"
Johnny smirked as he glanced down at me. "And here I thought it much too soon for your graduation party. Mother's right, as she always is." He sighed and I tilted my head to the side, my eyebrow lifted in a curious expression.
"Graduation party?"
"Yes. Henry and I had one as well. I seem to be the one slow to bloom as mine was only last year when I turned twenty-one. Henry's was the same year, at nineteen. perhaps mother thought it more expedient to do both at once while you slept soundly and unaware in your bed." He sighed with what seemed like longing before he looked down at me. "You are the social one of our family, so it makes sense that your growth would come faster. Still, I didn't think it would be this quick."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
He simply smiled. "Mother will explain once we're home." Then he lifted me onto his back and I wrapped my arms and legs around him and closed my eyes. I really didn't like it when he ran with me. It made me dizzy at how sharply his turns could be.

Home saw another scolding for me. Mother's pursed lips and tapping foot made me lower my head so she couldn't see the flush to my cheeks.
"Kaela Maria Lovell-" she began, her voice heavy with anger, "-have you any idea what could have happened out there today?" But it was sadness that ended her statement and I looked up at her, confused.
"I could've fallen?"
"Injury from young stupidity is not the concern, child. You felt it, right? The thrill of fear? The ache for more terror clouding your mind?"
I paused a moment and considered her questions, then nodded. But I still didn't understand.
"Do you still feel it?" Johnny asked. His hand stroked along my neck and over my shoulder.
