My grandfather's birthday was coming up, and I had no idea what to get him. I had always gotten along with my grandfather, and I loved him dearly. He lived by himself, about four blocks from where we lived, and he spent quite a bit of his time in his back yard swimming pool in the summer. I thought about getting him some new swimming trunks, and decided that it wouldn't be a good present. Then I decided that I would simply go over to his house and talk to him. Maybe, I thought, just maybe, he would drop a hint.
I arrived at his house, and it was a terribly hot day. I tapped on the door, and then rang the bell. There was no answer. He must be out back I thought, in the pool and couldn't hear my ringing and knocking.
I went around the side of the house and opened the side gate. His back yard was completely surrounded by a high block wall. I walked around the side of the house and stopped, and then heard a splash. Someone had just jumped into the pool.
I peered around the corner, and could see grandfather in the pool. Beside the pool, on a chaise-lounge were a towel and a pair of swimming trunks.
I walked over to the chaise. "Hiya," I shouted.
He turned and looked at me.
"Hi, Paula," he said. I noticed that he was in the shallow end of the pool, and he kept his arms and hands under the water, in front of his crotch. With the water moving like it was, I couldn't quite tell for sure, but it certainly looked like he wasn't wearing anything.
I picked up the towel and his trunks and I took a few steps back with them.
"How's the water?" I asked with a smile on my face.
"Hey, it's great. Did you bring your suit?"
"I'm wearing it, under my clothes."
