Jamie sat down next to Jayne, with his mum joining on the other side, as the church proceeded with its ceremony. Auntie Jayne had just told him she was pregnant, 'I don't have to guess who the father is, WE are in the shit, WE, WE, WE.' Jamie's mind was going a mile a minute, 'when is she going to ask for the divorce, when is she going to tell his uncle Stuart she's pregnant, what are they going to do, is she going to sell the house, is she going to tell his uncle to move out?' The thoughts and the questions just kept coming, his mind was a mess, as the rest of the church was going through the motions so was Jamie, if they stood, he stood, when they sat, he sat, he was not even aware of doing it.
Jamie thought to himself, 'Jayne and I will have to get together to try and figure this out, maybe over lunch in a secluded spot where nobody knows us.' At that stage he got a slight grimace on his face, 'we can't do it at my place, mum's there, not her place, we'll end up fucking, not a hotel room, we'll end up fucking, I'll offer lunch, yeah then we'll talk.'
Jamie wasn't sure about anything now, the only thing he 'was' sure about, was that he had become a daddy.
When church was over, and Jayne and Jamie were out of earshot from everybody, even then he whispered, "we have to talk, message me sometime later today." Jayne just stood there, she had this funny feeling in the pit of her stomach, 'what was going on in her lover's mind, was he angry, confused, having second thoughts?'
When Jayne got a chance to message Jamie, her husband had passed out on the sofa.
Jayne: "Baby what's wrong?"
Jamie: "Everything, Jayne, you know I love you, but we need to go for lunch, or a walk in a park to talk. I'm conflicted, where do we go from here, when will you divorce him, things like that?"
Jayne snuck a sigh of relief, she thought the worst, and now it's not so bad.
Jayne: "I'm free Monday afternoon, half day from work, how would you feel if I packed a basket and we drove to that nice little park outside of town? We can picnic and talk, I finish at one."
Jamie: "Pick me up at two, sounds like a good idea."
Jayne finished work on Monday at one, drove to the shops, bought supplies then drove home, she made up a picnic basket. After that she noticed she had some time, now early April it was starting to warm up so she went upstairs and put on a light, pretty strapless summer dress, strapless bra and neglected a pair of panties, she took out her hair clip and brushed out her hair. She felt beautiful, she looked beautiful, for her lover, her man.
Jayne drove over to Jamie's house. She stood at the front door and rang the doorbell, and Jamie's mum opened the door, "hi Jayne"
"Hi Tracey, is Jamie in?"
"Yeah come in, I'll call him for you." Just then Jamie came down the stairs,
"You ready?" Jayne asked.
"Ready for what?" Tracey asked. Jayne had to think fast.
"Oh I'm taking Jamie for a picnic, you know how expensive restaurants are. I never really thanked him for the lights he installed, and the oven switch he repaired. Just cooking spaghetti Bolognese wasn't enough. Jamie, you ready to go?"
"Yes, goodbye mum, I'll see you later." He gave his mum a kiss on the cheek and was just about to leave.
"Behave yourself,"
"yeeess mum, I'm not a baby you know?"
As Tracey shut the door she carried on getting ready for an evening shift "weird they fancy a picnic but she's happy for the company and he's staying out of trouble" she muttered.
While driving out to outskirts of town there was silence in the car, both Jamie and Jayne in their own thoughts. Eventually Jamie put his hand on Jaynes thigh, she was driving and just gave him a timid smile, and a glance. "Penny for your thoughts." Said Jamie.
"Let me rather concentrate on the road, we can talk later, OK?" They got to the park, it was actually very beautiful there, there were BBQ areas set to one side, there was even an awning with tables and seats for when it was raining. They found a nice spot under a tree and Jayne gave Jamie a blanket to spread for them, she only took out some little bottles of fancy flavored water, and two glasses, filling the two glasses.
After taking a sip of water he asked, "so have you made any decisions yet?"
"That is the whole point why I brought you out here, first of all there was no half day from work, in fact there was no work at all. After Stuart left at stupid o clock this morning, my mind was going a hundred miles an hour. I had to get this confirmed so I've been to the doctors this morning, it's all confirmed that I'm pregnant and you know what the fucking funny thing is?"
Jamie looked at her questioningly...
"The baby's due date, is Christmas day" she gushed whilst starting to well up inside," but I have to say this Jamie. I'm keeping it and that's with or without you. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh but you've made me a mum and I didn't realize how much I wanted to be one, until I became one. If you don't want this, then I'll be devastated, but ill respect that. I'll file for divorce and do it alone, you know he will flip, and know I've cheated. If you do want this, then the same applies divorce wise. But... we will have to move away for sure, so you need to be aware of that! I'm not gonna force you, but we will both lose friends and family and gain enemies. So young man, how do you feel?"
Jamie said, "Jayne, first off, I haven't a clue what mum or anyone will say, second, I don't really give a shit! if moving away means I get you all to myself, and we be a family, then I'm all in 100% we can figure it as we go, now let's eat I'm bloody starving!"
With an ear to ear smile and a few tears of now happiness she pulled him in for a loving embrace.
Jayne opened her picnic basket, took out a wooden board with a knife and set it on the blanket, "baby you can fill our glasses." Then she took out four different cheeses, placed it with some crackers on the board, "cheese and biscuits for my lover, or maybe husband to be."
Jamie just laughed, then spread himself out on the blanket and laid his head in Jayne's lap, looking up at her he said, 'I think my wifey to be, should feed me."
Jayne laughed and said, "I should have brought grapes to feed you like in Medieval times, hanging the grapes above your lips and you eating off the stalk. Jamie, I feel much better now that we have discussed this, all that remains is me telling Stuart I want a divorce. I've made up my mind, I'm going to tell him after the end of next weekend, that gives us two full weeks for us to brainstorm, and me to sort things as best I can. You finish college at the end of this year, I presume you'll start looking for work as soon as we settle in our new location, and I'll still work at the clinic for as long as I can, until little one is to big haha."
While they were eating and drinking, they were discussing these matters, Jayne was twirling her fingers through his hair thinking, 'god I love this man,' yes he is a man, to think, at the Christmas gathering was the first time I saw this man, he wasn't little nephew Jamie anymore.
"Jayne, what are we going to do for money, till I get a job? Look, I've already found out, being an A grade student the college will give me a good recommendation and referral letter." "
"No worries there, that bank account I told you about is quite sizeable, thanks to being smart and good with teeth, we'll be set for a good while if we don't go overboard, plus I'm still working and will be for a while. Auntie Jayne has a brain up here to ya know not just big titties." She said looking down, winking at him
