Found Together
Author's Note
This is my first ever story. It's just something I've been thinking about doing for a while now. It takes some time to develop. I plan to follow up with at least one more story, possibly two, so don't worry when you come to the ending.
Please enjoy!
Life is full of challenges. It can be hard to navigate through them without help from family and loved ones. Building relationships in life, especially those that are romantically linked, can be considered essential for making life easier to live. However, for some people, it seems too difficult to find that certain someone to share their life with.
Kenneth, or Ken to most of his friends and family, thought himself to be in this category. No matter how hard he tried to find his special woman, he always met with eventual failure. He often asked himself why it was so difficult to find someone special, someone just for him. Yet, Ken knew the answer to this question.
Ken never lacked family support. He grew up with a loving father, mother, and two younger sisters. Things were great for the first several years of Ken's life until tragedy struck at the age of 11. His father was killed in a car accident. It left a large hole in all of their lives.
When Ken's father passed, his mother couldn't support them financially enough to stay in their nice house and was forced to downsize. Ken, being the eldest of his siblings, was cast into the role of head of the house while his mother worked two jobs to make ends meet. This helped to bond them in a way they hadn't while their father was alive. As he and his siblings grew older, they split more of the responsibilities around the house. Eventually, Ken's mother got a better job that afforded her the luxury of only having to work one job to make ends meet.
Ken and his sisters never complained about their situation. They went through school and led a mostly normal life. Ken was neither popular nor unpopular. He was somewhere in the middle. He played football and soccer in high school and college. He even excelled in them. Ken was even somewhat muscular and fit. However, Ken had one glaring deficiency in his mind: he was short.
Ken definitely didn't inherit the family's tall gene. His father Paul, before he passed, was 6'2" tall and a star of his high school football and baseball team. His mother Penny was 5'10" and a star athlete in basketball for her high school and college. Both of his sisters were tall, but Ken drew the "short end" of the stick.
Ken barely made it to 5'0" tall. He attributed his diminutive attribute to his lack of success in the relationship department. Ken went on his fair share of dates to be sure. He'd even had sex on several occasions. However, even that worked against him somehow. It wasn't his performance. It had to do with the size of his penis. Fully erect, Ken sported a 9" penis that looked misplaced on his small frame. He often mused that this made him even more of a freak, a true paradox.
While his penis size intimidated some of his girlfriends, his height was a recurring issue. He dated girls of all sizes going through school. Just due to the nature of his stature, most of the girls he dated were taller than him. Eventually, the novelty of dating a shorter guy wore off, and they parted ways. Most of the girls he dated wanted to date and eventually marry guys that were taller than they were.
Ken and his sisters had just returned home from college for the summer (all going to the same school). Ken was feeling down, even though he had just graduated. He and his girlfriend Margaret had just mutually parted ways after graduation. They had been together for over 4 months. Margaret, although not very tall herself, still had a few inches in height over Ken. She couldn't see a future with Ken in the cards, even though they had lots of fun together and got along very well. She just wanted someone taller.
Ken knew it was coming, but he was still crushed by the news. He had hoped that his longest relationship so far would be the beginning of something they could build a future together with. He was depressed. Ken felt that he was never going to find his someone special and the relationship he so desperately craved.
He sat in his room, not seeing any light at the end of his relationship tunnel. What hope did he have to actually find the person he was meant to be with? Little did Ken know that during this summer, his fortunes would change.
Ken opened his eyes to the morning light, and the first day after graduating college. He was in his old room in his mother's house, contemplating his future. He asked himself, "Why me? Why can't I find the woman for me?"
He eventually concluded that he was destined to be alone. "Curse my height!" he said to himself. As he was lost in thought, he heard a knock at his door. Begrudgingly, he got up and opened it to see just above the rise of his younger sister's enormous breasts. She was standing there, beaming down at him behind a radiant smile.
"Good morning "little" bro," she chirped.
"Short jokes, huh. Isn't it a little early for that," he grumbled. "What do you want, anyway?"
Katherine, for her part, immediately regretted using the light-hearted joke, even though height was something they usually teased each other about. Katherine wasted no time apologizing to Ken.
"Hey Ken. I'm sorry for teasing you. I didn't know you weren't in the mood. I just wanted to tell you that mom left us some chores to do around the house while she's gone to work."
Ken hadn't intended to be so mean about it. He loved Katherine dearly. Ken said," I should apologize to you. I didn't mean to take my frustrations out on you."
"Would you like to talk about it? I'm a pretty good listener," Katherine said with concern in her voice.
Ken knew he could confide in his sister. If anyone might be able to get him out of his funk, it was her. He simply turned around to walk back to his bed and said, "come on, and close the door behind you."
Katherine did as she was told. Ken was already sitting on his bed, so she sat down on the opposite end, looking directly into his eyes. Ken was a little less aware of her height advantage over him since they were both sitting down, but he still saw it.
"So, what's got you down Kenny?"
Ken couldn't help but smile a little at Katherine as she used her nickname for him. Growing up, both of them were close. He was Kenny for her. She was Kat for him. She followed him everywhere he went. Their parents even joked about it. When they entered the room, one of them would usually say, "here comes Kenny Kat."
Ken started, "Kat, do you ever think about your future?"
"I think about it somewhat. I've got one year of college left, so I've thought about it a little more lately, but it isn't weighing me down."
"Well, it is weighing me down," Ken began. "I've been in a funk since right after graduation."
Katherine interjected. "Why are you so down? You graduated, and you have Margaret to spend time..."
"Margaret and I broke up right after graduation," Ken stated coldly without giving Katherine a chance to finish her sentence. "Now I'm alone with nobody, awaiting a bleak and uncertain future."
"Kenny, I had no idea. I'm sorry you two didn't work out, but why are you so worried about it," Katherine asked.
Ken retorted, somewhat loudly, "Look at me! Margaret was my longest relationship, and that lasted barely over 4 months! Who would want to build a relationship with me!"
Katherine, ever the optimist, said, "Ken, you have so much to offer any woman. Margaret was stupid for breaking up with you. You're smart, well-built, good looking......"
Something inside Ken just snapped. "And I'm short!" Kenny felt all the pent-up frustration boil over. The flood gates opened, and Katherine was unfortunate to be in the way.
"Kat, I'm barely 5' tall! You have no idea what it's like to be shunned because of your height! I've been in multiple relationships through the years, but they always end the same!"
At his point, Ken was practically yelling at Katherine, who sat there shocked at the unexpected barrage of long unreleased frustrations being hurled her way.
"All my girlfriends over the years have been nice to start out, but eventually they all say the same thing! Ken, I like you, and we have fun together, but I don't think it will work out between us. When I ask why, they just tell me that they want the father of their children to be taller than they are."
Ken had tears streaking down his face. He never realized how much he had kept this bottled up inside him over the years.
"You have no idea how hard it is for me to continue to be optimistic about my future relationships! I don't think I'll ever have anyone special in my life that I can start a family with and grow old together! You don't understand! You're tall and pretty, You could have anyone you want in life!"
Ken was a mess. He didn't know what he was going to do. He also didn't expect what Katherine said next.
"You're wrong you know."
