Jessica was tired of feeling so low, her body wasn't the best she was bigger than most girls at 19, ontop of that's she had had to deal with the regular taunts and insults of any girl not smaller than everyone else. As a result, she lay in bed most nights alone and isolated, she hated the world around her, and her own family were no better. Her mother always on at her to lose that extra few pounds. Her father barely even acknowledged she was there, though he was pretty much that way with both her and her brothers so that didn't help anyone.
It was a typical night for her, as was usual she was in her room silent and crying when there was a knock at the door.
"Go away!" She barked quickly trying to wipe the tears from her eyes.
"Jess, Mom wanted me to tell you they're going away for a few days, and you're in charge," her younger 18 year old brother stated
"Fine!" She growled in response. A reminder that as usual, her parents were taking liberties, just because she had no life didn't mean she needed to be reminded of that fact. She returned to crying from the frustration that burned at her very core, it wasn't long before she was asleep.
It was very early morning when she woke, as she turned to look at her alarm clock, the bright red forming into 2.12am. She groaned at the thought and then sat, slowly slipping out of bed before making her way to the bathroom, as she came back toward her room she saw her brother staring into her room.
"Matthew what are you doing?" She snapped, as he turned and smiled.
"Oh good, are you feeling better? You sounded so sad earlier," He replied.
"Fine, I'm fine," She snapped back and then made her way to her room as she turned to close the door she looked back to him, "What were you doing? Why are you even up?"
"I just wanted to make sure you're OK," He shrugged then as if nothing had happened wandered off back toward his room. She stared after him for a moment before making her way into her room, for a few moments then deciding to go and get a drink she made her way down the stairs to the kitchen.
As she opened the fridge bending down for the orange juice taking t to the counter, again bending for a glass before pouring her drink. She sighed before returning the orange juice to the fridge. As she turned she yelped in surprise at her brother, who was now watching her.
"Matthew what the fuck?!" She snapped angrily.
"Need a drink," He shrugged in reply, it always annoyed her how flippant he was in his ways but sure enough she returned to retrieve the orange juice then repeated the process of grabbing a glass. As she straightened she couldn't miss the fact he was staring, she put the glass down before him with a bit more force than was needed causing him to frown at her, "What's with you today, fucking hell,"
"Stop being so fucking weird then, Jesus I could swear you were staring at my ass," She snapped back.
"Your ass is staring at me," Matthew grinned in reply.
Jessica shook her head in reply and sighed as she sat opposite, he began to drink from the glass. She couldn't help but wonder what was in that head of his, he was being incredibly weird even for him. Though the thought of him staring at her made her shiver inside, even if it was her brother at least it was attention that wasn't the negative she had become used to.
"Why are you being so fucking weird? If I didn't know better I'd say you were trying to flirt with me!" She muttered.
"Is it working?" The straightness of his tone caught her completely by surprise as she stared at him, her eyes locked on his as she searched for whatever dumb plan he had concocted today. Again she shook her head and stared back at the orange liquid in her glass.
"Fuck off Matthew, I'm not in the mood for you to be picking on the fat ginger bitch!"
"Is that how you really see yourself? Jesus no wonder you're so fucking miserable all the time, and not to mention single,"
"Yea cos guys like fat and ginger, really see the football team hanging out with me on their arm, fuck off," She snapped back angrily. There was a bitterness to her words now.
