Episode TWO
"CIRCUMSTANCE"
----------------------------------------
A scream woke Jack the next morning. Bolting straight up in bed, he was immediately hit with a blast of sunlight as he opened his eyes. While he covered them with his hand and let them slowly adjust to the extremely bright light, he reminded himself that he should remind himself to close the curtains at night.
When his vision normalized, he saw Hayley in the pool yelling up at Stacy Marie, who was standing on the deck. From what he could gather, it seemed that Stacy had shoved Hayley in, and Hayley seemed a little upset at that. He turned to get up out of bed when he realized that, as usual, he had slept in the nude and therefore, had no clothes on. He scanned the room, but the closest apparel was too far away. Another reason to close the curtains at night.
From the pool, Hayley noticed Jack stirring inside the poolhouse. She shot Stacy Marie a glance, nodding in Jack's direction. As Stacy Marie turned to look, she caught the briefest glimpse of Jack's nude form before he could wrap the sheet around his waist. She looked back at Hayley and smiled. Hayley giggled. Jack stopped by the door on his way to the bathroom and said, "You two make a terrible alarm clock."
As Jack retreated to the bathroom in the poolhouse, the girls started giggling, and after Hayley had splashed her friend a few times, Stacy gave up and jumped in.
When Jack returned from the bathroom, he was wearing his swimming trunks. He stepped out of the poolhouse to the girls whispering. "What are you two whispering about?"
The girls, still in the pool but clinging to the side, said, in their sweetest innocent voices, "Nothing."
"Yeah, okay," Jack replied. "Is there coffee in there?"
"I think so," said Hayley.
"Kara was making some when we came out here," Stacy Marie added.
"Excellent," Jack said as he turned and headed for the house.
Inside, Jack found Kara sitting at the dining room table, sipping a cup of coffee. "Morning, Jack," she greeted him.
Jack poured himself a cup of coffee and sat down at the table across from Kara. "Couldn't help but notice there was no 'good' attached to that 'morning'" Jack said sarcastically, taking a sip from his cup.
"Ugh," she began. "I'm not through waking up yet."
"At least you weren't woken up by two screaming girls."
"No, but I was kept awake by two giggling ones."
Jack laughed, "I figured that might happen. That's why I took up residence out in the poolhouse."
"Well, don't be surprised," she warned, standing up, "if they drive me to bunk with you one of these nights." Kara walked over and poured herself a refill of coffee. As she reached up to get the jar of creamer out of an overhead cabinet, the dress shirt she was wearing, he guessed she got it out of his closet, came up enough to reveal that she had no panties on.
"Nice shirt," Jack commented, his gaze stuck on Kara's backside.
"Yeah, it's yours," she replied as she brought the jar down. "I hope you don't mind." Kara looked over her shoulder as she said this and caught the direction that Jack's eyes were focused on. "Are you staring at my ass, little brother?"
"Just noticing how my shirt fits you," Jack winked. Kara stuck her tongue out at him and went back to preparing her coffee.
When she returned to the table, Jack was looking out a back window at the girls in the pool. Kara picked up on this. "I'm of the opinion that our little Stacy Marie has a crush on you, little brother."
Jack turned his head and gave Kara a silent look for a few minutes. "Yeah, I picked up on that." He took a sip of his coffee and turned his head back to the window. They watched for a while as the girls climbed out of the pool. "She does have a good body," Kara commented.
"Yeah," Jack said, sipping his coffee.
"I'll bet she's a wildcat in the sack."
Jack was intrigued by that statement. "What makes you say that?"
"Well, for one, she's a quiet girl," Kara pointed out.
"And quiet girls are wild in bed?"
"No, not all of them. But she has a killer body."
"How does that make a difference?"
"She knows she has a hot body. With that combination, I'll wager just about anything that when you get her behind closed doors, she's a firecracker."
Jack took in Kara's commentary as he watched the girls stretch out on a couple of patio chairs. He sipped his coffee.
"Can you give me a ride into town?"
"Sure," Jack answered. "I was going anyways. Let me get a shower first." He downed the rest of the coffee in his cup, poured himself a refill, and headed out to the poolhouse.
Kara smiled to herself as she saw Stacy Marie's eyes lock onto Jack as he walked past her. She took the last sip of her coffee and placed it in the sink on her way back to her room.
----------------------------------------
"Do you think your brother likes me?" Stacy Marie asked Hayley as the two lounged in chairs by the pool.
"I don't know," Hayley replied. She thought for a while, but all she could add to her answer was, "Maybe."
The girls went back to soaking up the morning sun in silence for a few minutes before Hayley spoke up again. "I think you definitely got him to notice you last night."
Stacy Marie giggled, remembering how Jack was speechless when he saw her arriving to the restaurant the night before. "You don't think it was too obvious, do you?" she asked.
"Well," Hayley began, turning her head to look over at her friend. "Me, mom and Kara knew exactly what was going on. I'm not sure dad realized that anything was even going on."
