"Dammit, this just make any sense," Amanda said to herself.
Matt McKenzie just passed the table that Amanda was sitting at in the school library. He looked to see who was make the exclamation and saw her sitting at the table, her head in her hands. Matt had a history class with Amanda. She always sat in the front of the classroom and was always taking notes. He thought she was one of the prettiest girls on the campus. He even tried to say hello her to once. But she just looked at him, murmured a 'hi' and continued walking down the hall. Amanda Hawkins, pretty as she was, was out of his reach.
Matt glanced at what she was working on. It was a subject that was difficult, but he was pretty good at. The bane of most college students; calculus. He was tempted to say, 'screw her' and walk on.
He stepped up next to her and asked, "May I?"
Amanda looked up and didn't say a word as Matt pulled out a chair and took the pencil that was laying on the table.
"Here, let me show. There's a couple of tricks that'll make it easier."
After a few minutes of explaining how to approach and solve the problem, Amanda sat upright and smiled, "Wow, you make it look so easy," she looked at him with a slight frown, "how do you know this stuff?"
Matt smiled, "I didn't have a choice. My dad's a high school math teacher who also teaches the AP classes. I'm Matt, by the way."
Amanda offered her hand, "I'm Amanda."
Matt shook the offered hand, "I know, we have a history class together."
Amanda cocked her head for a moment, "I don't remember seeing you there."
Matt thought 'that's cause you don't think that I'm at your level', "Ah, I usually come in just before class starts and sit towards the back." Which wasn't quite true. Yes, he sat in the back of the room but was always one of the first to come in. He watched for her every time she came in.
"Do you have a few more minutes? I've got another one that's causing me problems."
Matt put his backpack that was still on his shoulder and set it on the table, "Sure, what's the next one."
He was early the next time the class met and was already in the back when Amanda came in. This time she looked for him. She waved and smiled at him as she made her way to her typical seat towards the front of the room.
He waited in the hallway after the class. "So, how did your calculus go yesterday?" he asked as she came up to him.
"It made a little more sense but I'm still struggling." She cocked her head and gave an impish smile, "Would you help me again?"
Matt chuckled and looked up and then back at Amanda, who was still smiling, "Sure, but it's going to cost you a pizza this time."
"That's fair," she replied. She scribbled on a piece of paper and then handed it to him. "Here's my address. How about 5:30."
Matt took the paper and looked; he knew where the address was so he different have to ask for directions.
"I'll be there."
"What do you like on your pizza?" she asked.
"Anything but anchovies and pineapple."
"I'm with you there."
Matt arrived at Amanda's house just as the pizza delivery guy was getting back into his car. Matt stopped when the driver yelled out, "Man, you are one lucky dude."
Matt didn't say anything as the driver left. He went up to the door and rang the doorbell. Amanda greeted him wearing shorts which revealed her legs to him for the first time. A top with very short sleeves complemented the shorts. The shirt was not too tight but tight enough for him to get a better idea of the size of her breasts. Between her slightly tanned legs and her 'B' cup breasts, he stopped breathing for a split second.
"Come in," Amanda asked, opening the door wide enough for him to come in.
Matt stepped into the house and heard the door close behind him.
"I really appreciate you helping me. I might actually get a B out of the class."
Matt replied, "I'm happy to," is what he said but thought, 'you keep dressing like that, I'll help you with anything'.
"Come on," she said, nodding her head towards the dining area.
Matt could smell the pizza before he got to the dining room. His stomach reminded him that he hadn't eaten since breakfast.
"Damn, that smells good," Matt commented on the pizza.
"Got it from Pizza Mania."
"I've heard they good. Never been there," he replied.
"Figured since I owe you for helping me, I'd get the best in town," Amanda said with a smile.
Matt looked at the smile and part of him melted inside. He preconceptions about Amanda were falling away. He was finding that she really was a very nice person. 'Perhaps she was just focused on calculus when I tried to say hi', he concluded. It had become obvious to him that she took her schoolwork seriously.
"I hope Pepsi is okay," Amanda said as she placed two cans, a couple of plates and napkins on the table.
"Perfect, that's what I have at home, actually."
"How about we eat first and then you can tell me what the hell I'm missing. Today's class was brutal," Amanda suggested.
Matt smiled, "Good idea. We'll get through it."
"God, I hope so."
Matt asked, "What's your major?"
Amanda put down her slice of pizza, "Human Resource Management. I don't know what calculus has to do with HR, but it's a required class," she said as she laughed.
"Not sure I know either," Matt laughed as well.
"What's yours?" Amanda asked.
"Actually, it's Forest Management."
"Wow, I thought with your math skills, you'd be in engineering or something like that," Amanda said, cocking her head slightly, showing interest.
Matt shook his head and looked down a little, "No. I've been exposed to math all my life, you know dad and all." Matt suddenly looked up, "Don't get me wrong, I love both my mom and dad. I couldn't ask for better parents, but I've had enough math."
One slice of pizza remained as the pair worked on calculus. Matt was taking great patience in explaining the nuances of the subject. He knew that some people found it much more difficult than others. He could feel her leg bump up against his now and then. Little though it was, he liked the physical contact with the beautiful girl sitting next to him.
They were deeply focused that they didn't hear Amanda's mom, Lisa, walk in.
"So, you're the one who's saving my daughter in class," Lisa remarked. Both Amanda and Matt looked up at the same time.
"Hi, mom," Amanda answered.
Matt took a second longer, he was taken in by Amanda's mom, whom he thought looked sensational. "Uh, hi, Mrs. Hawkins," he finally got out. He didn't see Amanda steal a look at him with a hint of a smile. She was well aware of her mom's looks and how it usually drew additional glances from males.
"Please, call me Lisa. Mrs. makes me feel old." She looked at the open books and the papers on the table plus the scrunched-up paper on the floor, "been at it a while, I see."
"Yeah, but we're almost done," Amanda answered. "I'm actually getting it, thanks to Matt's help."
Lisa came up to Matt and put her hand on his shoulder. He felt his skin tingle a little bit where she was touching him. He looked up to see her smiling at him. His eyes stopped for a split second as he caught her chest before finally looking her in the eyes. His glance didn't escape the notice of Lisa.
"I really appreciate you helping Amanda. I know when she came home after the first class, she was really stressed out."
Matt smiled, "I'm glad I could help." He watched as she started to leave the room, turning just before she left, "Well, I'll leave you two alone. I need a nice hot bath," and she left.
Amanda waited until Matt was refocused on what they were doing, she helped him by placing a hand on his leg, "Thanks, Matt."
Matt turned and gave her the biggest smile he ever had, "You're welcome, Amanda."
They looked at each other for a moment before Matt said, "Well, I think you got it. I should probably go."
They stood up and Amanda immediately went to hug him, "Thanks, Matt."
Matt was taken aback by the unexpected hug but eventually wrapped his arms around her. The feeling of her warm body up against his was nice. He ran his hands up and down her back, noticing that the bumps for a bra were missing. He felt a twinge in his groin.
"You're welcome, Amanda. I enjoy being with you."
"Me too."
He stepped back just a little, his hands on her arms, "Listen, there's a concert on campus on Saturday, would you be interested in going?"
Amanda nodded her head, "I read about it in the paper. Yes, it sounds like fun."
