"Oh fuck!" Ariana screamed as Kai pounded her roughly from behind. Gripping the sheets she felt herself getting closer and closer to orgasm. "Harder! Please fuck me harder!"

Kai furiously worked his cock into her as he took a grip of her hair and went harder. His hand not busy with her hair took hold of her breast and thumbed her nipple to help push her faster to the edge.

"That's it, you're just about soaked." Kai felt himself getting closer to cum. "I'm about to flood you baby." He moaned.

Kai pushed himself to the back of her pussy, twitching and moaning as he filled her with all of the cum he had. Ariana screamed into her pillow, feeling her body give in completely and clenching her tight hole as she came with him. The two sat and twitched as they caught their breath, Kai pulling out and smiling at the heavy load that fell out of her hole. Rolling so he could grab her and pull her close, he kissed her deeply.

"Holy shit." Ariana sighed against her pillow with a happy grin as she looked over at Kai.

"Better than New Years?" He chuckled.

"Way better. God I was just so drunk that night. I should be asking for a pounding like that twice a week." She giggled.

"You're telling me." He pulled her onto his chest. "It's been too long."

"Don't you masturbate?"

"Hell no, fucks with my head." Kai shook his head.

"Everyone rubs one out. It's a great way to get the magic flowing. Hell, maybe we could do a sexy little ritual to get you flowing again." She teased as she ran her hands over him.

"You know I can't channel power right now." Kai sighed.

"Can't you do other kinds of magic?"

"I've told you before Ari, I don't use that word."

"You're right, I'm sorry. I don't mean to disrespect your beliefs. Can you talk about them a little to me?" Ariana rolled to her side and lit a cig.

"First, don't smoke in the house, it's bad for Derrick. Secondly, it's a bit private."

As he sighed she put the cig out on an ash tray and set it aside. "Please?"

Kai rubbed his light scruff with the palm of his hand as he thought. "You promise you won't tell any of the others?"

"It's gonna stay right here in this room." She nodded. "You have my word on my order."

Kai took a deep breath and put his hands together. "You know stories of saints doing miracles right? What I do is kinda similar. I don't have the gifts, I have a connection to my divine, and I ask them every time I wanna use it. When I healed Garrett I heard this voice that told me I was going to pay for it. I wanted to do it no matter what."

Ariana chewed her lip as she tried to speak as diplomatically. "When you ask for this to occur, do you ask specifically for certain acts or gifts?"

"Not exactly. I ask for them to guide my hand. I don't ask for them to do something specific. I try to be humble and trust that they know what they're doing."

"What about..." Ariana again thought as she tried to express it in similar terms. "Do you have a guardian angel?"

"Hell yeah I do." Kai scoffed.

"Do you ask your God directly or do you ask your angel?" Ariana thought diligently about the ways a mages soul could speak to them directly. Some of them experienced it as a sense of dread or whispers on the wind, while others had a full Tyler Durden standing behind them or taking control of their actions. She figured it was the easiest way for her and Kai to relate.

"I talk to her. All the time. Sometimes I have dreams where her and I are sitting in this weird room and we talk for what feels like hours." He searched the walls for answers. "Made me feel like I was crazy at first. She hasn't ever led me wrong, and if I have an issue with something she says, it's a sign of things I need to work on."

"I have something like that too, but it sounds really stupid compared to that." She murmured.

"I promise I won't judge you." Kai looked her in the eyes and put a hand to her face.

"It's a plant." She waited for Kai to look at her incredulously but all he had was an attentive face. "My mom gave me this plant when I was really young, and I started to talk to it when she passed. I'd tell it all about my day. When I got a little older I of course grew out of it, but one day I heard it talking back. Sometimes it was just a word or two."

"That sounds really beautiful." Kai smiled.

"You don't think it's weird?" Ariana looked ashamed.

"In this house?" Kai started laughing. "Garrett is literally addicted to his brain being a search engine. Miles has an actual human skull in his closet, and Jason is the most fussy pedantic magician I ever met. I once saw him organizing his books by color until he realized they were out of category and also alphabetical order. Derrick is a full blown kung fu movie, and I'm here in the middle trying to shepard y'all to church." Ariana was grinning and laughing too now, and Kai leaned forward to kiss her but she looked at him funny. "You okay?"

"Are you wanting another round?" She asked quizzically.

"Well no. I mean yeah all the time but no I don't need to." He tried to kiss her again but she sat up with a strange look on her face.

"I'm confused." She said flatly.

"Well now I am too." Kai laughed. "Didn't you...I dunno, give us a try?"

"Oh!" She fidgeted with her hands a bit.

"I was thinking more like friends with benefits." She said sheepishly. "Is that...what you'd like?"

Kai reached for her cigs and lit one. "Don't you tell a soul." He said as he took the first puff. "I thought maybe I could take you out at least."

"On a date?" She looked surprised.

"Yeah why not?" He tried to process her confusion, watching as she seemed more nervous than she ever had been around him.

"I've never been on a date." She nearly whispered it.

"Never? Not even cheap popcorn and a bad movie on the couch?" She shook her head and slowly his face turned back to serious. "You're serious. No one ever wanted to take you out and spoil you?"

"No, why?" She seemed defensive and Kai held up his hands.

"I guess that's just not what I expected." He handed her the cig and watched her smoke it slowly. "You wanna go out when Garret's out of the hospital?"

Ariana looked baffled. "Why then?"

"If I'm being honest. I can't fully relax until I know he's okay." Kai said with a defeated tone. "That little idiot is a part of us. It's freaking me out to see him recover so slowly."

Ariana wrapped her arms around him after she passed him the cigarette. "Me too. How about once he's out, you plan a date, and surprise me?"

"I'd like that." As they smoked, Ariana got comfortable on his chest as they talked and waited for their allotted time to be up. "Derrick, Jason, and Miles should be back in about thirty minutes from the movies, you wanna start food and I'll clean up?"

Kai smiled and she leaned close to kiss him passionately. "Sounds lovely."

"How was the movie?" Ariana asked as they all sat at the table. She looked sadly at the place Garrett usually sat.

"Super loud." Derrick said with a smile. "A lot of explosions."

"It was pretty good, standard action fare." Miles said quietly with his ears still ringing. By now the entire table had given a glance at Garrett's usual seat and all of them exchanged a look.

"Tomorrow let's all go visit him." Kai said with a soft nod.

"Do you think he's gonna wake up?" Derrick said with worry in his voice.

"I doubt it, but who knows, maybe he's snapped out of it."

"What was he doing? What made him so sick?" The table went quiet as Derrick asked the question.

Ariana looked at Kai with a pleading look. "He's an adult. He deserves the truth."

"Garrett has a drug." Kai started. "His drug isn't anything you snort or shoot up or smoke. His drug is information. His...practice allows him to search for information and sort it faster than you, me, or any computer." Derrick nodded as he thought about it. "The human brain processes so much data, but we have filters and ways of shedding some of that information. When Garrett uses his drug, he can do amazing things, no doubt about it. This drug though is a one way ticket to overload. He fried the motherboard that is his brain."

Derrick was silent as they all waited to see how he would deal with it. "So his brain is like a computer?"

"I mean yeah. Everyone has a capability like that." Miles nodded.

"So maybe he isn't broken, maybe the ports are. Maybe he's just too gummed up with information and he needs a reset." Ariana dropped her fork as Derrick said it.

"Holy shit." Miles reached for his phone. "You're fucking brilliant kid!" He hugged Derrick tightly.

"What the hell are you doing?" Ariana looked at him confused.

"You remember last Halloween? Garrett had that whole bottle of wine to himself?" Miles was running around the living room as he pulled various books off the shelf. Texting a message to someone, he started making a terrible mess all over the floor.

"Yeah the kid has no tolerance. He pissed himself." Kai held his arms up.

"He told me about that program that night. He said it's like dialysis." Miles threw more books until he found the one he was looking for and pulled out a crudely drawn diagram from Garret's sloppy night. "See his brain can't handle all of the information, so he uses the computer transfer to let all of the computer put everything it has on his hard drive. He acts as the processor, while his terminal acts like RAM. He's not in his head." Miles smacked the drawing and ran down to the basement. Flicking on the computer he waited for it to boot up as the others left the table and joined him downstairs.

"Hey Gary boy can you hear me?" Miles yelled into his headset with a mic attached.

"Miles has gone crazy." Ariana put her hand on her jaw.

Slowly the screen flicked on and faded to a green old fashioned terminal. Words began to crawl across the screen. "Where am I?"

Ariana put her hand over her mouth. Kai eyes widened, but Derrick went over and took the headset from Miles. Jason started to check the power cords around the room to make sure everything was up to fire code, so they wouldn't lose him. "Hey Garrett it's Derrick. You used your program and pulled a Tron. You're inside the computer."

They waited as more words began to crawl across the screen. "How do I get out?"

"We're working on that." Derrick responded. "Stay calm, don't try to do anything. We contacted your mentor, he's on his way with a couple people."

"Cool. I guess I'll play minesweeper." Derrick laughed as the words filled the screen.

The team waited with baited breath as the other members of The Mercurial Elite drove over to their house, knocking loudly and making Ariana jump. "Fucking nerds." She huffed and she went to let them inside. One by one, five different people carried in computers and various pieces of technology, heading down to the basement.

"I'm Ethan, I'll be fixing your friend today." The leader of them in a dark blue hoodie held out his hand. "Now, where is the body?"

"In the hospital." Ariana said.

"Well that's gonna be a problem for me. I need you all to get him here as fast as you can."

"We can't just break into a hospital and take his barely alive body out the door." Miles gasped.

"Not my problem." Ethan smiled. "Get the body, I'll handle the mind."

Ariana shook her head. "This is so fucking stupid."

***

"Are you even sure this is gonna work?" Ariana stood with Kai, naked in a closet in the hospital.

"I'm positive. All you have to do is move fast enough to get his body in this closet. Just rile up a few patients, and they will be plenty distracted. When Garrett is back, he can wipe the cams without even a worry."

Ariana sighed and nodded before she smiled up at Kai. "Think you can gimme a little sugar to get me going?"

Kai laughed and reached down, he tucked his fingers between her legs and started to run them across her slit. Ariana put her hands on his shoulders and moaned into his ear. As he worked her up, she channeled her magic into her head as she lost herself to the pleasure. Like a bubble her thoughts expanded further and further as she quickly turned herself into a ball of anger.

Like wildfire, she pulled energy in through the pleasure and shot rage into the patients all throughout the ward. Alarms began ringing, screams echoing, and the sound of quick footsteps began trampling their way through the hall. The purple glow of a magical backlash rippled through her body, spreading like lightning across her face. Ariana dropped to the floor. "Shit!" Kai yelled.

Propping her up to be comfortable, Kai burst from the closet and saw nurses and doctors running around wildly. Kai ran across the hall, unhooking machines from Garret's pale and lifeless body. Lifting the boy out cold in his arms, he ran back to the wooden closet door and swung it open. He set Garrett next to Ariana and pulled at his hair. "What the fuck am I supposed to do now?" He rubbed his face. "It'll be okay man, just stick to the plan." Reaching for the tools in his pockets, he unfolded a small ladder and started to unscrew the vent above him.

Screws clattered to the ground one by one as he worked them, and as quietly as he could, he reached up for the vent and pulled it off. Setting it on the ground next to him, he pulled Garrett into his arms and stuffed him into the vent first. "Sorry buddy." Reaching down for Ariana, he scooped her up and crammed himself into the vent, pulling her up. The vent was dusty and tight, but Kai reached back with one arm and held onto Ariana as he also pushed Garrett forward. Thirty minutes of his crawling continued, making inches at a time as he reached the outside. Standing on a dumpster, Miles unscrewed the vent from the outside.

"You're late." He said shortly as he pulled Garrett's body out and set it on the dumpster.

"Fuck you man." Kai said shortly. He worked his way out of the vent and with a hand from Miles, sat on the dumpster with a sigh.

"The fuck happened to Ariana?" Miles hopped off the dumpster and opened the car door, sliding Garrett off the dumpster and hauling him into the backseat.

"Backlash." Kai grabbed Ariana, set her on the dumpster, and then set her in the backseat next to Garrett.

Miles gave her naked body a glance before Kai put a finger in his face. "Just drive asshole."

The two of them rode in the car silently as they headed back into the city, Kai covering Ariana with a blanket Miles happened to have in his backseat. When they arrived at the house, Kai lifted Ariana with the blanket, and carried her to his room. "She's cute, but not who we asked for." Ethan said with his arms folded as he munched chips on the couch.

"He's in the backseat." Miles pointed, kicking off his shoes and heading to the basement. Ethan and the others had set up a chair with a helmet like device, covered in wires and steel. As they brought the body of Garrett down, they placed him in the chair, and hooked the helmet to it.

"Let's play mind swap!" Ethan happily cheered as the others booted up their computers, hooking them to the helmet in turn, and then to the computer. Miles, Jason, Kai, and Derrick all sat on the edge of the room as they waited for the process to begin.

"Systems check complete." One of The Mercurial Elite said.

"Vital signs confirmed." Ethan said quietly.

"We have a connection." Another said.

"Booting program." Ethan sat at Garrett's computer and popped in a flash drive, loading the program. A large screen with many meters, feeds of information, and variables all over the screen. "Green light on this end." The others scrambled, triple checking all of their instruments.

"Green light." The others said in turn. Tapping a few keys, Ethan opened a terminal and began ruthlessly typing commands into it, and smacking enter at the end of every command.

Garrett started to twitch and shake, and the program screen lit up with various meters. "We have the transfer started." Ethan turned to the cabal. "This is gonna take a few hours minimum, it depends on how much data he fucked himself up with. Give us the night."

Derrick sat and watched as they worked, despite the others starting to walk upstairs. "You coming?" Kai asked him.

"I wanna stay with Garrett." He looked up at Kai. "I'll be okay."
