"What? Of course I DON'T respect you." Chaz spoke in a way that made Yrel remember that she did not truly want that either, which added an underpinning of reassurance to his derrisiveness. The way he reasoned with her was similar to the way one might reason with a child; he was telling her what she wanted and she could not help but agree.
"You're an animal, Yrel." She was surprised she prickled slightly at anything, let alone what Laz was doing. It just felt slightly different.
"You are right. I do not know what came over me." The draenei held her head and exhaled deeply.
"I know what the problem, is." Chaz offered.
"What?" Yrel was truly curious.
"We've had to keep you acting like you're a normal person for the sake of the plan. Mostly so your people, your chandelier and your commander wouldn't find out. Well... Now that's probably not necessary." Chaz crossed his arms and paced in front of her.
"Maybe it's finally time to give you a break. You laid out all your plans for your people so I could probably take it from here and give you more of a... Support role." He turned to look up at her and wink.
"A support role?"
"Yeah. You probably got enough points as a young draenei to rival even Velen at this point with how much you've risen through the ranks and grown."
Yrel smiled brightly. "You think so?"
"I know so, doll! Listen, how about we go back and talk to my cousin and see what we can do about all those thinking parts you don't need anymore."
"About that..." Yrel began, but then trailed off, nervously rubbing her arm.
"What is it? I'm not gonna get mad if my pet barks. But I do gotta figure out what's causing it."
Yrel was reassured by the sentiment, despite the language being incredibly demeaning. She was well past caring about that. The only thing she truly cared about was the incident back at the stable.
"I had thought that when draenei were to become animals we would retain some sense, while being subservient to our partners. Like..." She motioned towards herself.
"Oh." Chaz immediately understood.
"The problem with that is that with certain animals we can't have our orders going through a filter."
"A filter?"
"Yeah yeah. A filter." He leaned down and picked up a rock. Yrel watched him curiously and knelt down as he asked her to.
"Imagine I want to throw this rock between both my hands. I know exactly what I want to do, my hand knows what the other is doing. It's synergy." he explained it in a way that was intuitive for her. She nodded.
"Now, put your hand between mind, catch the rock and toss it to the other one." As he tossed the rock back and forth Yrel moved her hand between and caught it. After a brief delay she then tossed it to the other hand.
"See what happened?" Chaz inquired.
"No? It felt fine."
"It was lag."
"Lag?" Yrel cocked her head quizzically.
"You gotta admit, it was slower when you put your hand in there, right?" Yrel nodded.
"Good. It was way slower than before. That's why we train animals so that it's like one hand tossing a rock back and forth. Your hand between my two hands is like your brain. You, or any other mount or pet thinking at all between my orders and your actions creates lag and that can't happen. That's why we gotta make sure that with some roles the girls can't stick their 'hand' in where it doesn't belong."
"Because it's slower." Yrel felt like she understood pretty well.
"You have way too much-" Chaz leaned up and tapped her forehead to illustrate what he was saying.
