After a few days of dealing with the 'Scholar's advances Leti, the stable master, was a bit fed up. The woman for one was a complete degenerate. It seemed as though the change in her skill-set from a mage to a 'cunning' pet had more effects on her personality than expected. The entertainment tree was one that held the expectation that there would be some change involved, but Leti would not have thought that the scholar would become a devious creature as a result of cunning. She noted down that it was perhaps the case with all pets after they are tamed and re-talented, and it was more just a matter of not being able to communicate effectively.
The woman constantly harassed Leti during work and outside of work, giving her no escape to the constant sexual torment.
"I wish Chaz had gone down the other path in my 'tree' as you call it. Then I could actually make you my bitch." The scholar mused happily, leaning on the stable next to the stable master. Leti tried to ignore her, but found the Cunning eredar pet would constantly find any opportunity to put her hands on Leti's ass or tits while she wasn't giving the scholar any attention. Yrel was constantly out of reach as well, unfortunately. According to her she was dealing with things related to politics and warfighting and missions. Even if she was a stabled pet, she still had her duties to pay attention to.
"What was it like? Becoming a pet." Leti asked, trying to distract the woman away from sexually harassing her. Surprisingly the inquiry worked and the scholar stepped back to think.
"It was terrifying." The scholar said assuredly. The answer surprised Leti, who presumed some sort of romanticized version of what happened. No, the eredar continued along the same lines.
"I felt real fear as it happened. I was unable to do anything while I felt my mind practically melt. Some thoughts faded or melded together. Knowledge was lost and I could feel myself losing it. Work that had taken me thousands of years was being canceled out by such a flippant act carried out by what I believe to be an ingenious, yet insignificant creature. Aspects of my personality changed or faded into nothing. If I could simplify it, have you have wondered what creation might feel like?"
Leti stared at the woman, completely incapable of movement or response. It was an aspect of her skill-set to allow others to hang on her every word, but there was also a severe feeling of horror and intrigue. She shook her head.
"Right. Well, it is not a common thought. Those who contemplate philosophy consider it in some schools of thought. The act of bringing something into the world. Assembling it's expertise and personality. Conjuring things that make it complex and unique. Understand?" Leti nodded.
"What I felt was that in reverse. I felt like I was being uncreated. So yes, I was scared."
"Are you-"
"No. because what came after was a sense of loyalty, purpose and pleasure all mixed together. When I am under his control I am not just motivated to serve... Serving is the motivation and it feels good. The satisfaction I got from doing whatever he said was hundreds of times greater than the feeling of completing a project or..." The scholar eyed Leti.
"A good day of work in your case."
Leti gulped, looking down at the reigns she held loosely. One of the tasks she was working on while trying to ignore the scholar. The feeling of satisfaction after completing a job was pretty good. It was a mild feeling but amplified hundreds of times, Leti could imagined that it could feel very good. She realized she was becoming a bit too engrossed and shook it off. The scholar could do that if given enough of a persons attention she was able to become their world, in a sense. Leti saw it happen with some of the weak workers. They became obsessed, then enraptured, then spent. She was not good for productivity, but nobody really knew at that point what was going on.
"But... You mentioned you don't feel like you anymore?"
"Oh, goodness no..." The scholar smiled at Leti in a way that was far too chipper for someone aware of that fact.
"I do not even fully believe I have a soul anymore. At least not a strong one."
"W-what? What's that mean?"
She looked up in thought. "When it happened I could feel Yrel's meditative light squeezing my being." The scholar could see that sounded confusing and vague, so she paused and reached a bit for an analogy.
"You know when you are trying to fit something into something else?"
"Yes. You have to make it fit. Bring some things in, adjust others."
The scholar nodded, finding a good addition to her analogy there. "That's very good! Yes, things were being adjusted and moved by the aura."
"So then-"
"But then it just kept getting tighter..." leti gulped as the woman smirked at her, almost reveling in the discomfort she was eliciting.
"What happens when you keep trying to push and compress, going beyond what you are trying to fit should allow?"
Leti's eyes widened past where they could usually go. Her mouth fell open and she answered easily with the first, truthful thing that came to mind.
"If you do that it wont return to it's original shape... It'll... Break."
