Chapter 29: Journey to the Mountains
The following morning, everyone met in the royal dining room for breakfast, minus Samora who was still sound asleep after almost a week of tireless studying. The group would be leaving for the Echoing Mountains in a few hours. The final preparations were being made for them.
Mirya was seated next to Tiafell at the table.
"Are you excited, Tee-Tee? You get to wield a sword that has a goddess living inside of it!" Mirya beamed at him, excitedly showing her teeth.
Tiafell nodded. "Yeah, but it's a little scary. I barely got any sleep last night thinking about it. I have a nagging fear that I won't be strong enough to defeat Dred, even with Gadrael. And if I'm not, everyone will..." His bottom lip trembled.
"Tee-Tee, you-"
"Don't think like that, Baby Brother!" Trista interrupted Mirya from Tiafell's other side. "You were chosen for a reason! And you're plenty strong already, just imagine how powerful you'll become with Gadrael! Dred won't stand a chance!!"
"Yes, thank you, Trista." Tiafell smiled at his older sister. As the elven siblings spoke, Mirya gritted her teeth, balling her fists.
Since Trista's arrival in Janazheim, Tiafell had spent most of his time with her. Unintentionally, she butted in when her brother talked to one of his friends and would monopolize his attention. Though most of them took it lightly, growing friendlier with Trista, Mirya grew jealous.
The female mage had always been close to Tiafell, often being the first to encourage and cheer for him and was physically affectionate toward him. She was the only one who had that kind of relationship with him until Trista came along. Mirya became irritated when Trista "stole" Tiafell's attention away from her. She tried to be more understanding, after all, Trista was his long-lost sister he had recently been reunited with. However, that did not stop envy from rearing its ugly head.
"Excuse me..." Mirya abruptly left the table.
"Mirya?" Tiafell reached for her. Trista's ears lowered, awkwardly rolling a sausage ball across her plate with a fork.
"I'll go check on her." Kanah volunteered, going after Mirya.
"And so, it begins..." Nadia muttered.
"So what begins?" Cirris raised an eyebrow.
Nadia groaned. "
Fuck
, you're dense! I'll tell you in private later, dumbass."
"He's hopeless..." Brion shook his head.
"Even Brion gets it, Dickhead." Nadia sighed, stabbing her pancakes with a fork.
"Mirya?" Kanah found the blonde girl in her room, sulking on her bed.
"Oh, Kannie." Mirya wiped her eyes, pretending she wasn't crying.
"What's wrong? You can tell me." The short, busty girl joined her bestie.
The mage groaned. "I don't know... I should be happy for Tee-Tee and Trista. They've finally been reunited after spending their entire lives apart. But I'm jealous! She steps in when the rest of us want to spend time with him! The others think nothing of it, and I know I shouldn't either, but it pisses me off! She just comes along and snatches his attention away! I know, I'm horrible. It's not like me to be so possessive."
"Hm, maybe you like Tiafell more than you realize?"
"Huh? What makes you say that?"
"Oh, come on!" Kanah turned Mirya to face her, holding her shoulders. "You always dote on Tiafell! Well, you do it to all of us, but he gets it the most often! You're always the first to cheer for him, to lift him up when he's down, and you have the most intense orgasms when he fucks you! And don't say it's only because his dick is the biggest!"
Mirya averted her focus to a spot on the floor, away from Kanah. "Even if all that is true, he doesn't need
me
anymore. He has Tristy now."
"Now hold on, don't you dare through in the towel like that!" Kanah berated her. "I personally don't think Trista is trying to steal him away from you. I doubt she realizes she's monopolizing Tiafell's time the way she is. It's like your mom said, her social skills need work. Plus, she's always liked you, talk to her about it!"
"I don't know, it feels awkward to. Plus, I'm not sure that's how I feel about Tee-Tee anyway."
"Oh boy... clearly, the first step is for you to stop lying to yourself. Look, I'm not saying 'ask Tiafell out right now', but give your feelings some thought, okay? The sooner you're honest with yourself, the better."
Mirya nodded. "Okay, but I'm sure you're reading way too much into this."
"I. Don't. Think. So!" Kanah sang. "Nadia agrees with me, she and I have talked about this more than once!"
"By the gods, Nadi??" Mirya buried her face in her palms. "Now I'm the subject of gossip and rumors! UGH, kill me now!!!"
"Naaaah!" Kanah hugged her tightly. "It's just me and Nadia. We haven't talked to anyone else; I swear it on my honor as a warrior of Steelweld!"
"Okay..." Mirya groaned. "But still, this is so embarrassing!"
"Why, because you looooove Tiafell?" Kanah smirked.
"Yes... h-hey! I love
all
of you!!" Mirya shoved her bestie. Kanah retaliated, resulting in a playful shoving match between the girls, which ended with both giggling and laying on the bed together.
"Thanks, Kannie. I feel a bit better."
"Sure! Don't mention it!" Kannie threw her arms around the mage. "Seriously though, you need to take a good hard look at your feelings Think about on the road."
"Fiiiine, but I swear I'm not in love with Tee-Tee. I do love him, but only as a close friend." Mirya felt a twinge in her heart, as if hurt by her own words.
"You're gonna have to work hard to convince me that's true!"
"What am I going to do with you...?"
"Feed me your pussy?" Kanah sat up, licking her lips.
Mirya laughed. "Not right now, we're leaving soon!"
"Okaaaay... but you owe me!"
"Alright, Kannie..." The girls giggled.
Two hours later, Tiafell, Nadia, Cirris, Mirya, Brion, Kanah, and Trista, waited at the West Gate on their horses with weapons and supplies packed. Vasati went with the group to see them off.
"Good luck Tiafell, all of you! May all of you will return safely with Gadrael!"
"We will, I promise!" Tiafell declared, raising his balled fist. "Thank you for everything, you've been a great help to us!"
