A great roar bellowed from the Dayward side of the Wilds, in its wake the Twilight glade fell silent for just a few heart beats.
Athena, a slight nymph of a woman dressed in hunters leather below her waist and a thin shirt, shuddered, turning her owlish gaze toward its source. Something big was coming, something powerful.
She leapt into the air transforming into a great owl, setting herself to perch on a sturdy branch in her Twilight glade. Athena knew this glade well, having always found safety and freedom here. The creatures in the area were small, the perfect prey for her to strike quickly and quietly from above. She was the hunter here.
Below, the ever moving moon showed her face reflecting off the water of the glade's tranquil pond as a great Beast of a man pushed aside a large branch impeding his path. He paused and reflected on the beauty here. A dayward creature himself, he never ventured far into the darkness of the wilds. He made his way to the pond, scooped up a handful of water and drank. It was...sweet. Not sickly sweet, not like an overripe fruit. Just a hint. He assumed that was the smell he followed but in smelling his wet hand, no the water held no scent at all.
The man removed his shirt, pulling it with one hand over his head and tossed it to the ground. He undid his warskirt and let it fall, leaving him naked in the moon's embrace. As he walked into the pond he began to change into an immense bear, his fur dark with speckled light spots like stars.
Above, Athena watched timidly as this stranger invaded her glade and undressed. She covered a gasp as he dropped his warskirt and sauntered into her pond. He was pawing at the water in frustration, what was he doing? Was he expecting fish? He stood on his hind legs and let out another earth trembling roar. This time, the gasp escaped Athena as she had to bolster herself from being knocked out of the tree.
The bear's head snapped to the side upon hearing a noise and he began drawing huge breaths through his nose. He pivoted his head back and forth with smaller breaths trying to hone in on what had lured him here. His gaze locked on a huge pair of sparkling eyes above him in the trees.
A rumble escaped the bear's maw in Athena's direction, "What are you little bird that would lure me here?"
Athena from her confident perch replied, "I feel that's quite an obvious bear, I am an owl, and I have not lured you into invading my quiet twilight glade. What is your name?"
"I am Arcas, bear of the coming dawn, and a scent has drawn me here through dayward into twilight. It is you, your scent seduces my mind. Come down so I might see you unobscured." said Arcas.
"I am Athena, of the twilight glade...THIS twilight glade in fact and I assure you I've no mind to seduce you bear. If I come down, will you leave this place? Your presence seems to have scared away my prey" replied Athena in a snarky tone.
