Chapter 2. THE PRINCESS.

Princess Melliesania Megga Truper was a direct descendant of the first Royal Family that came to live on the Republic back in the days of the 22nd century, her DNA proved it. She was the firstborn from her family that produced four Princesses before a Prince came along from the third wife of the King-in-waiting.

She was the old King's favourite granddaughter. He had already been regenerated 3 times and now as was their custom, he cannot regenerate again so he lived out his remaining time in his bed chamber. The little princess lay on his bed with him, in his final hours. They were very close, too close for the incoming King. The old King was always whispering to her, so quietly that none of the others waiting for his last breath could hear the stories he was telling his favourite chosen one.

She was popular with the people of her regeneration period and all Kings demanded loyalty, loyalty above all else. That wasn't why she fell out of favour with the heir to the throne.

The heir to the throne was troubled by their closeness he needed a reason to marry her off and get her away from the Royal household and away from the other women.

It didn't take the new soon-to-be King to get what he was after. It wasn't long before news of a strange event reached the ears of several Parliamentarians and hence their heir-in-waiting.

It was the young Princess's romantic interlude with a female from the Truther family. The next Truther to run the PAS. Their attraction for each other hadn't gone unnoticed by those who mattered. Those who wanted to prove to the new heir that their loyalty was strong and they were to be trusted with any new deeds that required attention. Key Parliamentarians of long-standing knew how important it was to prove their loyalty. Some who had spoken out when the next heir was unknown now portrayed themselves as indispensable.

The Parliamentarians knew that their positions with the next King would be judged by what they had said in the past about their future Kings, and how they enacted the Prince's wishes.

It caused much anguish within the Royal Family, what to do with this wayward child, the disobedient one, this favourite one?

Why was she so different?

Tongues still wagged and envy and jealousy were still rampant among the Royals and their houses within the compound. Even though copulation between the sexes was outlawed, if one was careful and had the right connections it could be managed. Affairs between lesser Royals and key Parliamentarians wasn't uncommon, Kings throughout the millennia had relied on those women to be their ears and eyes. Many a Parliamentarian had taken a walk out into space for no apparent reason after making a disparaging remark about a Royal who was a favourite of the then King.

Neither the RCMP nor the NWO ever monitored the Royal compound.

The young Princess often left the Royal enclosure and mixed with the others in the Republic. She was always chaperoned but as she became more inquisitive, she became astute in slipping away. It was on one of these excursions that she saw the good Doctor, who was conducting a lecture in a garden for a small group of schoolies about the Republic. These schoolies were a select few who shown promise and who might be used in further exploration and 'digs' on ME.

It took the Princess only milliseconds to find the Truthers name in the vast supercomputer banks, available only to the Royal Family, not even all the Parliamentarians were given access to all the information.

She watched and listened from afar, and slowly her heart was pounding a little more rapidly. The beauty of the Truther had made an impact on the Princess. Her medical condition was monitored closely, and the sudden increase of blood from her heart didn't go unnoticed by her personal physician. He made a mark on his chart and reported it to the appropriate Parliamentarian responsible for the Princess's health.

He sent for her only to be told that she had slipped out of the compound. No matter who they had watching her she always managed to find a way to do what she wanted to do.

Over the many time changes, she found a way to go and find this Truther woman. She knew her name, she knew where she lived, and she even watched her in the privacy of her family home. She was beautiful and the young Princess was smitten.

How had she risen to such prominence?

For many life cycles, she tried to get closer to the woman, but who she was kept her from fulfilling her heart's desire.

She finally spoke to her chaperone and wanted a formal introduction to the good Doctor, Doctor Laudian Teresa Truther the head of the PAS. Her heart quickened even as she spoke her name.

An idea came suddenly, and it fermented in her mind full of ideas. She stood her ground and told her handmaidens and her chaperone that it should be done in a matter of haste. She hid her desires by telling all who would listen that she wanted to know about the history of her family and ME. More than she was taught by the scholars. Her introduction to the Truther, this gloriously good looking woman was disguised as a formal occasion. It wasn't totally unheard of for a Truther to be summoned by a member of the Royal Family, normally they were required to solve an argument or more likely a bet between the two young Princes.

A frivolous matter.

The time was made and the good Doctor as she was known, made her way to the glorious White Compound. The appointment being a formal discussion was recorded, and the room was filled with both Royalty and Parliamentarians. The Princess had to know more about this woman.

Was she betrothed?

Was she in her first or 3rd regeneration?

Some things in her file were left blank, suspiciously so. That could only be done by those in the highest authority.

The interview started well, everyone was nervous at first as the reputation that the Princess had, made even the most hardened Parliamentarians nervous. No one knew what she wanted to know, and no one dared to ask her beforehand, her icy stare and sharp tongue had in times past reduced grown men to tears.

She had power and knew how to use it.

As soon as the good Doctor got seated, the Princess made her entrance. She waved her hand for everyone to remain seated. Then whispered to the closest handmaiden and she scuttled off. A carafe of wine was produced but only the Princess and the good Doctor were given glasses. This meant that no one was to speak other than the Royal Princess and the head of the Parliamentary Archaeology Section (PAS).

"Good Doctor," She started looking straight into the eyes of the woman no more than twelve feet away. "I have been well-schooled in the history of the Republic and the story of the first family, my family. But I want to know more, I want to know about what led to the wars before the Republic?"

The Parliamentarians all went white with fear.

The room monitoring the interview went into overdrive. The supercomputer sent multiple warnings to several internal agencies.

The talk of such things could be labelled as treason.

The good Doctor took a moment to answer knowing that a simple reply would be expected, and she cautiously looked back at the Royal and saw something in her eyes. A smile appeared quickly on her lips then it was gone.

"Your Royal Highness, this is not a simple question you ask. Much was lost in the years prior to the Republic. Now that I am aware of your request, I shall look into the records for you and will report back to your scholars in a timely manner," The good Doctor replied. Knowing the answer already. Nothing unofficial will be disclosed.

It was a common enough request from one of the leading Royals. Over the past 3000 years the question had been asked several times. And answered in the same way each time.

The heir-in-waiting was interrupted during his afternoon activities with three members of the Royal household. None of whom were his current wife. The ladies all tried to conceal their naked wares to no avail, when a courtier knocked and entered the room. The Prince knew it must be important for him to be disturbed. The courtier whispered into the next King's ear. He too went white and screamed at the ladies to go. He pulled on some clothes and headed for the interview room.

The good Doctor had just finished speaking when he burst into the room. Everyone turned to the door that had just been thrust open. The dishevelled King-in-waiting stood there glaring at the Princess.

"Why wasn't I informed of this meeting?" He asked in a calm manner which was completely at odds with his attire.

The Princess stood and bowed her head acknowledging her future King.

Her voice was calm, clear and decisive. "Your Highness, I saw no reason to bother you when you are so busy these days," The smirk on her face was not hidden, it wasn't meant to be.

She waved her arm around the room and continued, "All that has been said and asked for has been recorded as required,"

"Melliesania, what game are you playing? You know all you have to know about the history, your scholars have taught you, there is no more to find out," Then turning to the good Doctor. "Isn't that right Truther,"

The good Doctor did not answer, her head was still looking down not wanting to get between the squabbling siblings.

"Don't berate the good Doctor, she is here because I summoned her, she is my guest and you are no King yet my little stepbrother," Her voice was raised and any civility in it was lost. What was lost in the words she used was made up in the glare he got in return.

The future King-in-waiting stood looking at the woman who he knew held command in the Royal Palace. He was determined to change that.

"I know what you are about sister, you are plotting to overthrow the King, I can see it in your eyes. All of you are going to be tried for treason."

There was an audible noise in the room as the many sucked in a breath but dare not speak.

The tension was broken by a soft cough coming from a senior Minister seated, not at the table but against a wall in a corner.

"Minister James, I didn't see you there," The young Prince claimed. Breaking the stare he and his stepsister held.

"A senior Minister of the NWO sitting in a room where treason is discussed is a serious accusation, your Highness," He started off saying.

He stood up and walked towards the King-in-waiting and when close enough so only he could hear what was said between them he told him firmly, "Nothing of the sort took place, just a woman looking for something that isn't there. Let it go boy. No good will come from a confrontation with the Princess,"
