"Soviet?" I ask after getting transported to Myread to meet the mages, hope he remembers that we worked well together.
"Shouldn't be but a moment for them to get setup, they knew the minute we left the ruins earlier." Soviet says and wanders over to talk to the lady.
"Saynha, how are things going here?" Soviet asks the lady.
"You really let out a wyvern?" She whispers and he shakes his head no, she looks relieved for the briefest moment.
"It's a dragon, they are bigger, and he let her go." He looks over at me. "She seemed to like us, so stay close." Soviet gives the smallest lip movement as she knows what he is doing.
"You don't have to let one of them fly overhead just to ask for that." Saynha was an older lady, but she smiled at him with want in those eyes.
"Lots of shouting earlier," she whispers over to me, "best on your behavior yeah, everyone says you are mouthy, the council hates that."
"Everyone? There is only Soviet here that would know that?" I say glancing over at him as Saynha laughs,
"Anyway, be good, wyverns are immune to magic, it makes us nervous when we go from the top to the bottom of the food chain." She smiles and turns to Soviet, "It's why we keep Soviet around." Her head tilted as if she was listening.
"It's time, come with me," she escorts us into the room, her black hair had three braids, two wrapping around her head and a thick one down her back, a deep ocean blue-green with a silver trim sundress, a style everyone here wears, light lacy top with an angular cut at the bottom, it appears no matter how old, the women here dress to impress.
'The heat, they dress like this because of the weather, idiot.' Cinthia sends and I laugh as that could be a good reason, also. Sanyha glances over at me with a surprised look, I guess laughing didn't make here feel better that I was going to behave myself.
The doors open on their own, of course, they would, gotta show off your nice palace. "OH, Fiona!" I say a little too loud as they all look from me to her as she laughs. "Welcome Kaethorn, I hear you finished?"
"Everything worth doing, it's cleaned out, just need a healer for the people that do the cleaning and lots of stuff to cart out." I answer walking to the center of the room, "No chairs? Hope this is quick." I say turning around in a circle and then looking at them in their seats, and she laughs again.
"Saynha, please get a chair for Kae," Fiona asks and Saynha does an air thing that opens the doors and pulls a chair to her, I step over to take it and she gives the 'you are starting off wrong look'? "I know," I whisper but it's loud enough for everyone here, "Asking for the chair threw them off of the questions they were going to ask." The alarmed look on her face was so animated I couldn't keep a straight face. "Saynha, I was kidding, it's okay, we are all friends here." I offer her the seat and she shakes her head.
Looking from one councilor to another, I saw the one in the middle was about to say something, clearing his throat, I looked over to Fiona, "Oh, I have something for you, can you do dinner?" I ask Fiona.
"I can," Fiona answers.
"What is it that you took from there? Your percentage." The old man in the center chair asked me.
"I got the goblin, Sandy, you got everything else," I answer.
"What about the wyvern?" He asks.
"I might get her for a year if she doesn't eat me, I've asked her to watch the lands from here to the mountains." I felt pretty good about that one.
"The only thing we want to keep away from Myread and its surrounding lands is a wyvern, and you invited one of the largest of its kind, without asking for permission."
"Permission?" I look over at Soviet, "Her name is Tia, she's a dragon, not a wyvern, her arms are not attached to the wings," I repeat, and can see the vein in his forehead pulse. I'm not even sure I'm correct on this now that I think about it, I'll have to ask her. "To get to what you wanted, we had to get past her and we might as well have been newborn baby rabbits against an immortal dragon, we had very little say of what was happening," I wave over to Soviet, "ask him, he was the muscle of the operation."
Soviet raises an eyebrow at me and turns back to them, "He's correct." I leaned in waiting for him to say more, nope, he just stood there.
"If there is even a single incident." The man says and that was that, there were two other men at the table that never said anything.
I slap my thighs and stand up, walk over and behind Fiona, pulling her chair out and she stands. "Alaric, take over for the evening," she says and it was the guy in the middle asking me all the questions. We walk past Soviet and Saynha, on the way out the door I see Saynha levitate the chair back out into her room.
"That went well?" I ask Saynha who rolls her eyes at me and looks at Fiona shaking her head.
"Don't pick on my Saynha." Fiona answers.
---------------
"So what happened?" Katleyn, Beau, Mertil sat in their normal chairs on the porch with most of the towns people were on blankets, Sandy looked around, she likes a bunch of them, but there are a lot of people here. She crawled up into Sabina's lap.
"We found the Treasure trap room, they made me go in last." Her face was worth a thousand words at how unhappy she looked at the end of her statement. "The Gray and Cinthia ghosts went in first and then Soviet. I went in with master."
"Sandy?" Mertil says in her disapproving voice.
"What? He's not here, you said not to say it around him." They both sat there looking at each other and then Sandy gave in, "Fine, We, went in together, I didn't see any treasure, just books and lots of papers."
"Books can be treasure," Tia said walking around the corner, many of the ladies scream." Sandy hops down and runs over to her, not a care in the world.
