Welcome Back! Everyone depicted in this alternate universe, thousands of years in the futuristic past, is of age and have agreed to the their story being presented today. If you contribute ideas that come about and your story is added, you will need to pick out your background and class.
With so many people to juggle it might be nice to get them organized in your mind as well:
Team1: Heran, Evaine, Niviena, Ewlene, Yesime, Anders, Isabella
Team2: Sabina, Annalise, Desa, Abigale, Amber, Treya, Ivana, Joan
Team3: Katelyn, Beau, Erika, Alexandra, Triss, Abby, Jenna, Amelia
Team4: Jacob, Dustin, Jamison, Anton, Petra,Regina
Merchant Ship: Saedin, Agitha, Cassandra
Lounging around at home in the Inn listening to Saedin about his trip,
"The man I was talking to was a merchant, he was interested in the mint and lavender soaps but was at about half the price you stated." Saiden offers as Kae sits back.
"When we settle down with Twin Rivers, sell him some at the best price, and let them know it will go up over time as more people buy the limited amount." Mertil replies. "Having the oils and soaps, it will sell itself."
Evaine walks into the Inn, looking for me. "See, that's what I thought, look at him." Heran and the team walk in right after her. "Don't need you this morning Kae, stay here." They turn and leave as if it was practiced.
"I look bad?" I ask looking at the others.
"Tired, you look very tired, and your hair is uhh, different." Mertil smiles while looking up at my hair. The bucket in the Kitchen agreed with her. I've never let my hair get this long ever, and the beard itching and getting in the way is driving me crazy.
"Who can cut hair?"
"Sit down, I can trim them both." Mertil looks at Katelyn.
"Fine, I'll get'em." She grabs her scissors and a sheet to collect the hair.
"Hey scissors, wasn't sure you would have these, figured a straight razor of death was coming." I laugh and she did not.
"Most of our luxury stuff is back east, you don't take non-necessities into the wild to start over," Mertil says as she positions the chair on the sheet. "Not sure you should be calling us barbarians before I put a blade to your neck."
"I was doing no such thing, I don't know what you have on this world compared to mine, Like the hybrid wolves, we don't have them, we had running water? You have rogue Necromancers where we had regular thanes and lords doing the nasty stuff, sometimes Ogres and Trolls and other creatures to the far north in the ice plains."
Mertil steps between my legs until she was as far as she could go, trimming the beard from different angles, stepping over one leg or the other, I had to move my foot forward so she wasn't riding it.
"Running Water?" Beau asks.
"Yeah, imagine redirecting some of the water from the river just to the north in tubes to holding tanks here, I saw it in action once, either clay or concrete. Anyway, just some things I think of, nothing right now, but, when we have the money, hiring a few people could work.
Mertil hums a few times as she is walking around and judging what to do. "Kate, we could use a brush before trying to tame his hair." They brush the tangles out of my hair and then set to cutting it for the next few minutes, I'm not seeing very much land on the sheet. Mertil comes around and sits on my knees, her tiny body is easy to hold up.
"You comfy?" I ask as her face is tilted slightly as she trims my beard along the neck, Beau returns, though I never saw her leave, and hands a bottle to Mertil, dripped onto a cloth as it's wiped along my neck and cheeks, smells bad and apparently cleans up hair like a razor.
"That's new, how long before it grows back?" Saiden gets up and walks down the hall looking at me like it is getting awkward.
"Not long enough." Beau answers and the other two agree.
"You can just smear it all over and I'll be done." I smile at them and get shaking heads. Most of the men I've seen so far, except the Skaldians have very little hair, and no facial hair, guessing it isn't needed with year-round nice temperatures. I look like a pale, skinny Skaldian in comparison.
"Don't be bad this morning." Mertil notices the effect she is causing.
"That's not my fault, he was minding his own and then."
"Yeah, the wine club isn't the same if one isn't participating." Beau cuts in, looking between the two of us.
"Ahh, it's about the wine club?" Mertil asks wiping the stuff off my cheeks, my eyes are watering, not sure it was meant to be so close.
"Ninhersag said you are a follower of hers, Ow!" I lean back as my right eye stings from her jerking her hand up.
"Sorry! Water?" Mertil asks and Katelyn hurries into the kitchen, when she returns they have my head back and the water pouring on my eye is worse than the original sting, but I have all three of them hovering over me, I heal the burning in my eye but let them fuss over me.
"She, ugh, talked to you, about me?" Mertil asks as I hold the cloth over my eye.
"She likes your style, just like the rest of us, she is rooting for you to find happiness."
"I am happy, well, mostly, and of all the people in the world she spoke of me, I thought I wasn't, that, holy shit, I can't believe this." Mertil is fully planted in my lap and with her hands on my shoulders staring me in the eye to decide if I'm being serious.
"We can finish this another time," I stand up with Mertil in my arms and set her down on the floor as she squeaks. "Don't act so surprised, she asked me to take care of this place, she obviously knows everything you've done so far, how could she not approve of what you've accomplished?"
"Told you so." Beau says softly from the side as Mertil stands there crying. The two ladies have her in a hug as I sit back down and wonder what I should do. Katelyn is still giving me odd looks.
"Okay, I'm good for now, I'll be back after checking on Heran's team, I was also told to push them harder last night so I need to get out there to change things up. Katelyn?"
"Yes."
"Come with." I turn and walk out of the Inn, Katelyn catches up.
"What's with the faces you're making at me?"
