The Book of Fairytales

Note:

The Book of Fairytales is a book (lmao I know I'm stating the obvious). But this means that while there is sex in the book, it isn't coming just yet. I am letting you know now so you aren't set up for disappointment. These two chapters do not have sex in them, they are to set up the plot of the book. But I encourage you to still read it because there will be a lot of sex... just eventually. I hope you like it. Without further ado, I give you The Book Of Fairytales.

Summary:

The book of Fairytales follows two groups of friends who are forced to come together after getting detention. There are four fairytales, each story is meant to tell a tale that brings them closer together. Theres romance, fantasy, a bit of adventure, sex lmao.

Amelia

At times like this I wish I could hit my head against the wall repeatedly. I was late for class and it wasn't even the fact that I was late. It was the fact that I was late for my midterm exam. By the time I had gotten there, it was over and the other students were leaving. "Fuck." I cursed under my breath repeatedly as I brushed past the others to get to the professor.

"Ah Amelia, glad to see you can make it." My professor said as he set the stack of exam papers down on his desk. "At the end of my exam period."

"Professor Dallas, you have to allow me to take this exam." I could feel the desperation in my voice while he looked unamused,

"I already told you and your other class members at the beginning of the semester, no retakes." He said flatly.

"Come on, I need to pass this class in order to graduate with honors." I groaned, he peaked up at me through his black rimmed glasses before taking them off and speaking.

"Alright, if you can provide me with a good excuse as to why you missed my class and a note to back your statement," Dallas paused. "Then I can find some way for you to make up most of your points." He emphasized and I froze. There was no good excuse as to why I missed my exam. In fact, the only reason why I did was because I stayed up late studying and overslept.

"She was helping me," a familiar voice spoke from a distance. I slowly turned to see Jack Walloway standing by the door to the class. He held a stack of papers in his hands as he walked towards us. I could feel my own heart beating out of my chest. "I got into a car accident, some douche bag t-boned me when she pulled up." He said to the professor. "She escorted me to the hospital just in case something happened." The man took the papers away from him then began to read. It gave me a chance to look over Jack. He was tall, around five foot eleven, and looked like he had worked out regularly. His dark brown hair matched his eyes. He had a stubbly beard growing on his face and his lips were pink and plump. Professor Dallas sighed as I heard him set the papers down. It pulled me out of my deep thoughts and looked at him as he stared at me.

"Is this true?" He asked, I looked at Jack who gave me a soft smile of approval.

"Y-yeah, it was." I lied, "I didn't want anything bad to happen to him, so you know." I was smiling nervously. I could tell the professor didn't believe us for one second, but he just sighed.

"Alright, I concede, you both will meet me in the library after school and I will let you know what your assignment is." He said to us, I nodded quickly,

"Thank you Professor," I spoke as Jack left the room. I quickly tried to follow after him since I wanted to know why he helped me. But I entered the hallway when everyone was getting out of class. So instead, I was left standing in the middle of the hallway confused.

"Hey Melia," I heard my friend call out. I turned to face her, Faith Nordan, my friend since Freshman year. She had black hair and green eyes, she was pale, kind of like a vampire from twilight. Her body was thin but healthy and she was a little bit taller than me. Faith was a literature major, her dreams were to become a well-known literary agent. In my opinion, she could achieve her dreams. Whenever there were new releases of books she'd read her favorite category and give a personal review. Nothing malicious, everything from front to back was analyzed and written about in a nice way. Her reviews were respected in the writing community. So, I believe she will soon be able to get the job she longs for. "Ready to head to class?" She asked, I nodded and followed after her. Our next class was literature, we had it with two other friends of mine, Lylah, and Roran.

Lylah Johnson, someone I had known since Freshman year of high school. Most people would call her an overachiever. Straight A's throughout her school years, never missed an assignment, and always took the extra credit. She was valedictorian of our high school and earned a full ride to our University. Her dream was to one day become President of the United States. She is even interning at the local council and has her foot in the door for a full time job after graduation. Lylah was around my height, which was five foot four. She had dark brown skin and hair was done in box braids. Her body was like an hourglass figure. In my opinion, she was the prettiest and smartest one in our group.

Roran Williams had been my best friend since kindergarten. Before her father passed away, Roran would go to any game with him. But track meets were something that clicked for her. Her parents signed her up and she worked hard. As we grew together, Roran pushed herself harder, training to eventually go into the Olympics. She was the shortest one of us. Her hair was curly brown and her eyes were hazel. Her interests had always been about sports since she was a kid. Despite her small frame, she was fit and was the captain for our track team.

As I walked towards them, I noticed Lylah getting annoyed by someone. "For the love god, leave me alone Collin." Lylah whispered at the man, her tone was filled with annoyance. Collin Jackson, a privileged man with blonde hair and brown eyes. He was on the school soccer team along with Jack. Another fact, he was in love with Lylah who had denied his every advance towards her this semester.

"Just one date." He pleaded as he sat in front of her. She glared daggers at him as the professor spoke.

"Quiet, we are about to begin our exam." She began passing them out one by one until the entire class had gotten it. "Alright everyone, begin." She spoke and sat down as we started. The test was fairly easy for me, I had finished within the hour. I could still hear Collin trying to hit on Lylah. "Collin and Lylah, I would like to remind you that we are currently taking a test." Our professor called out. Lylah's eyes widened as she looked at the woman then just huffed out of annoyance. There was a pause before our professor spoke up, "Lylah, meet me after class please." With that, everyone went back to their tests.

After class, we waited a few minutes for Lylah who came out fuming. "That stupid stupid man who can't take no for an answer." She muttered to us.

"What happened?" I asked her,

"She failed our tests since he was consistently bothering me through the exam. The only way we can make it up is through some type of detention in that weird, abandoned library"

"Universities hold detentions?" Faith asked confused.

"I guess so." She muttered annoyed,

"Well, I have to go there after classes as well," I said to Lylah. The others looked at me worriedly, "I missed my Ethics midterm by studying overnight." I explained. They all nodded and let out an "Ah" as they understood.

"Whatever, I'm just hungry." Lylah said bitterly

"Well, we should go to the cafeteria." I shook my head. As we made our way down, I told my friends the encounter I had with Jack. By the time I had finished, we were in line at the cafeteria buffet.

"Wow, he actually covered for you." Roran spoke as we began making our plates. We walked to an open spot in the dining room. "That's really sweet... I saw Magnus today." She smiled halfheartedly. Roran was the only one in our friend group to date in college. The man, Magnus Remides, was her ex-boyfriend, they dated for a few months until her mother caught her with him. After threatening to disown her and many months of arguing with her, Roran broke things off with the guy. But I see them look at each other longingly.

I didn't know much about Magnus, he was the captain of our soccer team. He mostly kept to himself outside of his friend group. He was a little bit taller than Jack, had jet black hair, and he looked Mediterranean with tan skin. I knew he transferred all the way from Greece and had a heavy accent.

"Oh, snap out of it guys." Lylah spoke up, "The only thing we need to be focused on is school, not men." She said,

"I'm already on honor roll, I can dip my toes in romance." I muttered, she looked at me with a scowl as I groaned.

"I agree with Lylah here." Faith spoke up, "I, for one, hate men."

"Not the ones in your fantasy books." Roran countered.

"They don't count, they are fictional for a reason." Faith hissed, I rolled my eyes.

"I am allowed to be attracted to someone okay." I argued back,

"I'm just saying Amelia, Roran literally got in a relationship only for it to end." Lylah reminded us, I shot her a glare as Roran frowned.

"Dude." I hissed,

"She's right, the best focus should be on school. Not on some stupid guy who you end up breaking it off with." Faith hummed mindlessly. I wanted to knock both of them on the head, but quickly saw the guilt on Roran's face as she looked away. I took a deep breath as I turned to the other two.

"I'm not going to let you two shame Roran and I for having a crush on someone. And I am damn sure not going to let a girl who fantasizes in her head about relationships she can't have, and a girl who's ego trumps over her ability to like someone, convince me not to like someone." When I finished, the two girls were left with their mouths agape. While Roran just giggled to herself.

"Rude." They said at the same time while pouting. I shook my head and went back to eating.

When I looked up again, I noticed Jack walking with Magnus and Collin. "God he is so hot." I whispered. I glanced at Roran who's eyes perked up when she saw Magnus. He turned to her for a moment with sadness then looked away. Roran swallowed harshly and looked down at her fingers. I rubbed her back to comfort her.

"I'm fine." She whispered to me softly when the other girls weren't paying attention.

"Ugh and there goes that stupid bastard." Faith said loud enough for the cafeteria to hear if they were paying attention. Her eyes were set on a glare towards none other than Trent Diez. Another member of the soccer team. He was buff, almost six foot four, and had black hair and brown eyes. He was Faith's nemesis as she likes to call it. Few knew why they hated each other, however I knew it happened Freshman year of college. Roran invited me to go see one of the Soccer games and check other guys out. That is where and how I met Faith.

We were all sitting on the bleachers watching the practice before the first game. Roran and Magnus had their eyes on each other most of the time. But while Magnus wasn't paying attention, Trent kicked the ball his way. It managed to hit the man in the head then bounce straight towards Faith's face. Despite the numerous apologies, Faith, in her right, cursed him out. The two despised each other since.

Trent turned to her in anger as she flicked him off.

Faith, now happy that she got a reaction out of him, smiled then spoke. "Alright, eat up before you die of hunger."

Before we could take another bite, I noticed something flying from across the room. It landed directly against Faith's head spilling cold strawberry milk over her and her food. I heard Trent laughing in the background as Faith's eye twitched. "Before you think about doing something-" my words fell on deaf ears. She stood from her spot, grabbing a glass of chocolate milk, and made her way over to him. I watched the milk pour over his head. The man stood up in anger as he faced Faith who had an innocent smirk on her face.

"Whoops." She said in a less enthusiastic and sarcastic tone.

"I'm going to fucking kill you Faith!" Trent went to pounce on her. "Not if I kill you first."

Just like that, the two were on the floor fighting each other. Jack and Magnus immediately got up as well as us and we all ran towards them to pull them apart. Roran managed to pull Faith off of the other. While Magnus and Jack pinned down Trent. Before we could even check on her, there was a voice clearing their throat. To my horror, we all turned to see the Dean standing there with her arms crossed. She had a displeased look on her face.

"My office, now." She said before walking away. Sitting in the Dean's office was like sitting in the principal's office. Nothing but terrifying nerves that struck while we waited for her to speak. "From Trent I expected this, but you Faith." She said disappointingly. "You can lose your scholarship, and all of you can face expulsion for this."

"All of us?!" Lylah gasped, "We had nothing to do with this, if anything Trent started it."

"I don't care how it started, I care how it ended, with two grown individuals fighting on the cafeteria floor like animals." She scolded.

"Please don't expel us," Roran spoke. "What happened was just a moment of irrational anger and won't happen again." She turned to Faith who sighed,

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have reacted like that" she said in defeat.

The Dean sighed, "look, all of you have bright futures ahead of you. Violence is never the answer here." She said, "I will give you a warning along with a detention."

"What?!" Roran groaned,

"That's fair." I said to her,

"Amelia." Everyone said in unison as they scowled at me. I shrunk back into my seat and crossed my arms.

"I will be personally keeping an eye on all of you. If there is any more fighting, or funny business on my campus from any of you, I will not hesitate to expel you." She said, "Now you all will meet in the library after school, you can leave." And with that, we cleared out of the room to head to our next classes.

After classes had ended, Roran and I did the walk of shame towards the library. Collin, Magnus, Jack, and Trent were already sitting down waiting with the Dean and professor Dallas. She and I sat in awkward silence as we waited a few more minutes for Lylah and Faith. They strolled in and sat beside us while my professor talked. "Hello everyone," Dallas spoke as he looked toward all of us. We waited for him to tell us what our punishments would be. "Well, two of my students are partly here for me, the Dean thought it would be nice to include you all in this... mess." He smirked, "As you can see the library is a mess and needs to be cleaned, books need to be placed back into their proper home. That's your job."

Everyone besides me groaned, "Oh come on, that's going to take days." Trent muttered,

"Not even days. Maybe weeks... or months and we expect this place to be spotless." The Dean smiled at us.

"That is not fair!" Faith groaned as she looked at them.

"Well, you should've thought about that before you guys fought in the cafeteria, talked during tests, and missed exams." Professor Dallas said, looking around. "I wish you good luck on your journey. Also, Jack and Amelia, I will see you in class on Tuesday to talk about your grades." He tossed us the keys to the library and Magnus caught them.

"Have a good weekend." Our Dean smiled and left with the professor. I looked around the library, most if not all of the books were scattered onto the dusty floors. It looked like a tornado had just entered here and messed everything up.

I sighed and shook my head, "Come on guys." I muttered and walked to one of the racks then began sorting the many books. Lylah, Faith, and Roran followed suit while the others were still sitting around. Jack was laying on the sofa, sleeping. Collin had picked up some random book and began reading it. Magnus had gotten up and began wandering the library, probably to find an escape route. While Trent sat on his phone,

"Why don't they have service in this library? Or Wi-Fi?" He groaned and leaned back on the other sofa.

"Maybe because idiots like you exist." Faith responded, causing Lylah to snort out a laugh.

"Jackass." Trent muttered as he shut off his phone.

"Are you guys going to help us?" I snapped and turned to the guys. Lylah came around too and spoke as well.

"Or will you just sit there like a stack of potatoes?" She asked. Trent and Collin looked at each other before sighing and getting up. "Good, okay, where is Magnus?"

"Over here." Magnus came up from behind us,

"Good, this is going to be long, so I propose we partner up and focus on the separate floors."

"Who put you in charge?" Trent asked,

"No one, but the sooner we finish the sooner we can go about our lives and go back to acting like the other doesn't exist." Lylah responded, "Is that okay with you guys?" She asked, they sighed but nodded. "Good."

"Can we choose who we go with since you guys proposed this thing?" Trent asked, Lylah sighed before nodding,

"I guess." She muttered, I could tell she was annoyed. "Alright well," Trent started but was cut off by Magnus,

"Nuh-uh, you don't get to choose." Magnus said as he stood up, "Since you and Faith got us in this mess to begin with, the start of your punishment will be you two working together." He said to them,

"What?!" The two exclaimed at the same time,

"I don't want to work with her?!" Trent scowled in anger, "The feeling is mutual." Faith scoffed,

"Yeah? Well, you two should've thought about that after you fought and almost got us all expelled." Magnus barked at Trent. Trent looked like a young dog with his tail between his legs. He quickly jumped back and looked down in guilt. It was clear Magnus and Lylah were taking the lead on how we work on the library. "Faith and Trent, you two will take the second floor." He said, Faith went to protest but Lylah shot her a glare. She backed down but a face of disdain was still there. "Roran you're with me." Magnus turned to Roran who didn't even hesitate to stand by his side. "We'll take the first floor."

"Alright by me." Lylah sighed,

"Can we work together Lylah?" Collin asked her, she looked at him momentarily before huffing.

"Okay." She answered.

"Cool, I guess we will take the third floor then." He had a wide smile on his face.

"That just leaves you with Jack, Amelia." Roran smiled at me, but I could tell behind that smile was a look of mischief.

"Okay, fourth floor it is." I smiled back nervously.

"Well since we are going to be doing this for a while, I say we pick up any book that is on the floor first. Start with the weird tornado of books." Lylah proposed. "And if we have time, we can start to remove the books from the shelves and just dust them... you know make sure they are in the right spot." She explained. We all nodded,

"Okay, that sounds good." Collin said,

"Alright, let's check back here in about two hours." Magnus said, with that, everyone wandered off with carts to take to their respective floors. So, I was left alone with Jack who was asleep. I walked over towards him awkwardly.

"Um, Jack?" I spoke softly, he shuffled a bit before I touched his arm to wake him. Jack immediately jumped up and grabbed my hand. He looked startled but also aggravated. "Sorry," I went to pull my hand away and he relaxed,

"What's up?"

"Can you help me with these carts?" I asked, "We need to do the fourth floor." He looked at me for a moment before getting up and helping me with the cart up to the fourth floor. We walked around, picking up the books from the floor and placing them on the cart. When we ran out of space, Jack and I went down and grabbed extra carts until half of the floor was cleared from the books.
