It's porn with very little plot or logic. It's about an adze, which is a type of vampire in Ewe (A culture from West Africa) folklore that can turn into fireflies. Otherwise, check the tags. I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing people would call dubcon or not, because the characters are both wanting to participate, but it is a strange situation where someone wants to fuck a murderous vampire he originally wanted to stop. Not really intending for it to be read as mind control though, like I said it's PWP, but I could see how someone could read it that way.
Anyway, onto the story
--
I'd always heard stories of adze. Firefly witches who flew around sucking the blood from their chosen victims. I've heard of them extinguishing entire villages to sate their bloodlust. And I've begun to see the signs of that happening around me. Many of the others my age and younger have mysteriously passed of a mysterious 'illness'. It was always sudden. One day they were alive and well, and the next, gone. The healers and shamans of the village have tried in various ways to banish the presence, to manifest health, to establish protections, but it hasn't helped at all. So I've decided to take matters into my own hands. I want to talk to the adze and see if they can be reasoned with.
"You're out of your mind, Omari," Awushi told me, her being one of the youngest of the shamans and a close friend of mine. "That thing will suck you dry. There'll be nothing of you left."
"That's likely to happen to me regardless of what I do, at this rate. So I might as well try, right?"
"No, look, we're working on something. There's another way--"
"We don't know anything," Zuri cut in. I hadn't even noticed her passing by. She was small and still lithe and graceful even in her old age. She was one of the most experienced shamans, and well respected. "Your friend's plan is worth a try."
"But he'll die!" Awushi said indignantly.
"If something isn't done, we'll all die. I don't feel like I know more about how to stop this situation than either of you. We're all flying blind. Omari?"
I looked down, meeting her eyes. "Yes?"
"I wish you the best of luck," she said, before walking off. Awushi didn't dare to argue further. It seemed that when Zuri decided on something, that's how it would be.
Later, she sent for me, to give me a crash course on spirit communication and some protective amulets. I should've felt honored. It was rare that someone be chosen to be instructed in these practices. But I couldn't stop thinking about how Omari might've been right, that I might be sending myself to my death.
That night, I enacted my plan. I wore all the protection amulets that had been given to me, though I knew they were likely to be useless. I walked into the center of the village. "Adze, I call you. I wish to know how I could help you, what it is that you'd want other than to kill my brethren." I said, trying to direct my thoughts at the being like Zuri had taught me to. Then, I waited. It was a warm summer night, and the stars shone brightly in the sky. I wondered if this was the last time I'd see them. Then, I saw a star move, and did a double take. Nope, not a star, a firefly. Was the adze here?
"Hello?" I said with trepidation.
I saw the air in front of me shimmer, and more fireflies began to appear out of thin air. I began to nervously back up. I saw the fireflies get closer and slowly form into the shape of a person, that began glowing more and more until I didn't see fireflies, just a silhouette of blue and white light. And then the light faded, and I found myself face to face with a man with glowing blue irises. He was almost attractive, with long braids brushing his shoulders, and a rakish smirk that revealed sharp fangs. Though, I didn't know why I was thinking this about a vampiric witch who'd likely kill me.
"What I want is a companion," He said slowly, staring me down like he were a lion.
"What?" I thought I must have misheard him.
"I would consider sparing your village if you agreed to come with me, and to never return," he said again.
If I agreed? So I had a choice here? "And... what if I'm not?" I knew I was playing with fire here, but I couldn't stop the words from tumbling out of my mouth.
"Then I'll drink your blood, and then the rest of your people's."
So... not much of a choice, really. But if this was how I could save everyone else... "Okay, I accept. I'm yours. If you promise you won't hurt anyone else here."
"Hmm, I don't think you're in a position to be making demands," He said, coming closer to me and running a fingertip along my jaw, flashing his predatory smile again. I jerked back indignantly. "But I will promise. Now, come with me." He offered me one of his hands.
I took it, and then everything changed. I felt like I was being crushed and shrunk at the same time. I tried to look around but my vision was weird now. I could see all around myself. My... wings? I was flapping my wings, I was flying. And my legs, my body, was now that of an insect. What... I then heard a voice in my head, directing me to look forward. I saw another firefly.
"C'mon, it's easier this way." He said.
"How... you can turn other people? How long will I be stuck like this?" I thought in his direction.
I heard laughter in my mind. "This is just for traveling. Now follow me. If you try to escape, I can't promise you won't end up squashed or eaten."
"How do I?"
"You're flying already, you know how. Follow your instincts, they're there, come on." his mind voice seemed to be getting impatient.
I wasn't sure what he even meant. I tried to focus on the wings I now had, and getting control of them. I nearly dropped in the air, but then... it made sense. I flew over to him, and wordlessly, he continued to lead the way. I had no clue where we were headed, first up, then outwards, away from the village. Had the circumstances been different, I would've been amazed, seeing everything from a bird's eye view, but I was mostly just scared. And I had to admit a bit aroused, though I hated myself for that. I mean, he was a literal murderer. But he was also quite attractive, and part of me wondered what it would be like with a shapeshifter.
I began to notice the sky around me shifting and flickering. I stopped flying to look around, confused.
"Keep going," I heard him nearly growl. "Or you'll get stuck. We're phase shifting now, between your realm and mine."
"Stuck?" I focused on flying after him, because I was really out of my depth here, and though I didn't trust him, I definitely didn't want to be stuck as a firefly or between worlds forever either.
Suddenly, there was a huge flash of light, and I saw a hole open in front of us, rimmed with white light and revealing some kind of room inside it. We flew through. I saw the adze transform into a human again, like he'd done before, and then me. I felt my body warm up and then I felt that I was in multiple places at once. A thousand firefly-mes, all moving in unison. White light covered my vision, and then I was back, human. I stumbled, almost tripping with my newly reformed legs, and the adze caught me, smiling amusedly. But he was even more clearly inhuman this time. Long, chitinous antenna sprouted from his braided hair, and his striking glowing irises seemed to stand out even more now. Two translucent black wings, folded downwards, extended from his back. Still, it was hard to believe that this was the man who had killed so many of my people. He looked almost innocent now.
We were in the biggest room I had ever seen. Moonlight shone through glass, clear and blue hued pieces stuck together in a pattern. Tall sandstone columns stood from the floor to the vaulted ceiling, and they were engraved in what seemed to be writing, though I didn't know the language. Light fixtures held candles and illuminating the space, and a strip of black carpet was underfoot.
"What's your name, anyway?" I ask. It was awkward just calling him the adze in my head.
"Chike. You may call me Chike. And yours?" He set me upright and let go of me.
"I'm Omari," I shuffled my feet, feeling shy all of a sudden. "When you said you needed a companion, did you mean...?"
"Did I mean what?" He leaned close enough that I could feel his breath on my face.
"Sex." I finally managed to say.
