Summoning Books were a good way to get reliable allies in a pinch; people who signed up for one could discover each other, communicate, and summon each other for help through them.
Avya the succubus liked getting summoned to do dungeons with people, so long as they knew she was the one in charge. She always had a few hours of the day booked out for summoning appointments, and always brought equipment that countered the dungeon's inhabitants; although she always made sure to dye it white, her favorite color.
Today, her +3 loincloth of speed, +4 silk thigh-highs, +3 frilly strapless bra, and +2 silk gloves of fire boosting were the right tools for this plant-based dungeon, since she needed the physical defense of their high stats, as well as more fire damage. Her astoundingly gorgeous tits, curly horns, and exceptionally pale gold hair weren't much use against largely mindless plants, but her imposing height and hidden strength were great in those messy close quarters situations.
She didn't bring any healing potions, since the bizarre magical construction of this dungeon made most potions simply not work inside. Healing was scarce, and her own special methods of healing were usually ill-advised, so all she and her summoner had were just defense, offense, and tactics. She was good at those things.
As Avya walked down the clay brick corridor, she stretched out her wings since they were feeling a little cramped. Dungeons rarely had enough vertical room to fly, which was a shame, but at least the hallways were usually pretty wide.
Her summoner, a level 35 wizard named Fulke, following just behind her, seemed a little incompetent in her eyes; and since he was a full foot shorter than her, had no physical strength whatsoever, and the monsters of this dungeon would be pretty dangerous close up, she was more than a perfect match. Plus, being 5 levels higher than him did give her some implicit authority, authority which she was very happy to have.
Unlike Avya, Fulke seemed terrified to show a single inch of skin below his neck, wearing some brown boots, a long navy robe with twinkling stars on it, and a pair of black gloves with the essence of midnight itself seemingly imbued into them.
"By the way, what are the stats on those gloves?" Avya asked. "They seem rare."
"They're +0 gloves, but they have crazy good cold resistance!"
Avya turned around and looked at his gloves with her golden eyes.
"Cold resistance?"
"Yeah."
"Do you have any +1 or greater ones laying around? Put those on. It's embarrassing to use cold resistance gear in a plant dungeon."
He looked at her like she was suggesting something absolutely asinine. "But there's a lot of cold damage from the frostblooms in--"
"--Yes, there are, and they die to any cheap fire spell on account of having the greatest fire vulnerability of any monster. You don't even need a big one to one-shot them like most normal plant enemies. They are not a threat and they will not live long enough to shoot a single icicle. Get physical resistance for christ's sake."
Fulke looked at her, took in a deep breath, and then seemed to start mentally sorting through his inventory. He instantly swapped out his midnight gloves for his +2 leather gloves, creating a fabric rustling sound as he did so. Inventory management, if you were good at it, was way faster than changing clothes normally. At least he was decent at that.

After a little more walking, Avya peeked around a corner and saw a large brick room just ahead, filled with a bunch of walking flowers, including a very large Vine Tangler on the left. It was more or less just a semi-sentient, exceptionally fast ball of vines whose sole purpose was to restrain people so other monsters could kill them. They usually went after the closest target, but they more heavily prioritized going after whoever last damaged them.
"Mhm, big group up ahead," she whispered to Fulke. "We can take them out no problem, but just in case there's anything else hiding in there, I want us to take them out instantly. When I say go, I want you to run towards the entrance to the room and fire your biggest single target fire spell, which I assume is Greater Incineration, at the solitary one on the left. That should kill it instantly. I'll pop an Inferno Cone on the eight in the middle and back of the room."
"Good idea," Fulke said. "I'll do some big damage."
"And... Go!"
Avya came fully around the corner, alerting the assorted plant life. Her Inferno Cone started charging up, and...
...Fulke cast an area of effect Fireball, hitting the Vine Tangler and four of the plants closest to the left in the bundle and not quite killing any of them, and especially not killing the Vine Tangler. Avya's Inferno Cone went off, incinerating the remaining small plants.
"Dammit Fulke!" Avya said. Inferno Cone had a long spell cooldown, so it would take a few seconds for her to be able to cast another spell. It was a good spell for finishing off hordes, or for casting with allies around, since it left its user vulnerable. She thought about getting physical with the Vine Tangler, but it seemed largely pointless. And since Fulke damaged it, it was targeting him, which Avya preferred to the alternative.
Avya stood aside as the Vine Tangler rushed him, and before Fulke could cast a Quick Flare, it grabbed his arms and legs.
"Fulke, I told you! Single. Target! Why didn't you use your Greater Incineration?" she said towards the end of the Inferno Cone cooldown.
"I wanted to help with... mmhp!" he said as a vine covered his mouth and the creature started pulling him into itself
Avya was about to incinerate the thing when a dreadful hiss came from the ceiling. A pair of Nightblooms dropped down from shadowy crevices in the ceiling, and immediately upon landing, they fired dark plasma blasts at her from their ultraviolet petals, knocking her back and dealing heavy damage. Not good; these were incredibly dangerous, and she only had one ally, who was currently occupied. At least dark plasma dealt physical type damage, but Nightblooms, despite their rarity, were undoubtedly the toughest plant life in this dungeon.
She cast her own Greater Incineration, almost destroying one, and then they shot her with more dark plasma blasts. Their projectiles flew past Fulke, who was being thoroughly wrapped up by the Vine Tangler.
She knew exactly how much damage had to be done to take them out, so while being pelted with dark plasma, which was dealing a concerning amount of damage, she used a Lesser Fireball to kill the damaged Nightbloom and wound the other just enough so that one more Greater Incineration was enough to kill it. Before she managed to shoot it, it got off one more dark plasma blast which scored a random critical hit, knocking her down to very low health. Then, with one final Greater Incineration, she annihilated the plant, ending the fight.
Cautiously, she looked into the room to see if there was anything else hiding. Nothing. She checked her health: 20 hit points left out of a maximum of 271. That was a close call.
The Vine Tangler had Fulke completely ensnared, and he was barely able to squirm or make a sound. It seemed content with its job, unaware that it wasn't accomplishing anything. Normally, seeing a guy tied up like that would have been exciting, but she was not in the mood.
"Ugh, thanks Fulke! Good job taking yourself out of the fight, accomplishing nothing, and getting me almost killed."
"Mmhpmhm..."
She readied a Flame Spear, a more precision focused spell, and nailed the Vine Tangler in its flowering weak point, killing it instantly; it collapsed into a loose pile of hefty vines.
Fulke, unharmed, slowly climbed out of the loose tentacles as Avya folded her arms, pressing them against her hefty chest. She looked down at Fulke, who had a cozy 150 out of 150 hit points remaining.
"Good job," Avya said with contempt as he extricated himself fully.
"That thing almost killed me!" Fulke said.
"Almost? It literally doesn't deal damage! I told you to kill it in ONE hit, but nooo, you had to be an idiot and use a weaker AoE when I already had everything else covered, and then your ass got restrained, and I had to take on two Nightblooms alone. If I hadn't brought physical resistance gear, I would have died, and then YOU would have been beaten to death next."
"I just wanted to help!" Fulke said.
"Do you know what I have to do to heal in a place like this? It's..."
Then she noticed a small red ring at the bottom of his robe... that was a telltale sign that his starry robes were cursed.
"Hang on a second," Avya said. "Are you wearing CURSED robes?"
"Look, they're only +1 and give me triple vulnerability to paralysis, and it's annoying when they scream violently every time I enter a church, but the lightning resistance is so good, and they don't have Curse of Binding, so I can put on better ones later!" he said.
Avya rolled her eyes; she had enough of his incompetence. She held up one hand and cast Paralyze Human. Yellow bolts of energy shot into him, locking his body in place instantly before he could react.
"You're such a disappointment," she said as she stepped closer.
"Hnng..." he muttered.
"I wanted you to follow tactical, thought out orders so you could get to the end of the dungeon and I'd take a share of the loot and experience along the way, and we'd both leave richer and stronger and happier. And I wanted you to not do anything stupid that got us killed. That was the deal! That was the deal!!! Now I'm low on health and lower on reliable party members, so I'm going to fix that." Avya said. She cast Paralyze Human a few more times, extending the duration to a whole minute.
"Now hold still, you dumbass," Avya said. Fulke, paralyzed and locked standing upright, could only move his mouth falteringly and make tiny sounds.
