"They," 'the Fleet Commander and DSC Academy Commandant' "were trying to figure out what to do with your education plan because, not only did you exceed the learning expected of a first year Academy Captain Apprentice on your first day, but you also tested out on the Equinox Flyer with your pretest. Congratulations, Shuttle Pilot Noel Anderson." I felt like I was in shock, what did he just call me? And just like that he thought to me, 'You heard me right babygirl.'
I was blown away yet again. Thank goodness he stopped to smile after saying those things in spoken words. If he had kept thinking them to me, I knew they would have blown past me way too fast. "I passed? I didn't even take a test. I only did the simulation modules and they were much too easy for those to have been the competency test." I read the testing section in the technical manuals and I knew what was expected. I've got to learn how to block my thoughts like he can.
Barrett just continued again thankfully in voice. "Oh, you demonstrated much more than you realize. Your simulation module performance exceeded command and control parameters for experienced pilots to demonstrate during re-certification testing. The cadre took particular notice and immediately informed the DSC Academy Commandant, who then informed the Fleet Command Commander. They were trying to figure out what to do with the rest of your Academy training when I just happened to contact them to see what they had in mind for you."
"They said that they were glad I contacted them. Then they asked me what I thought about your training, as your Captain, which I thought was amazing. I had never had a crew before and never had that kind of communication with anyone, let alone the top leaders of the DSC Fleet and Academy. So I explained to them my idea, that Starchaser had helped me to figure out using a lot of resources on the Datastream. It just made so much sense to me as what was right for you as it formed in my mind."
"You, Noel, are progressing fast, and much faster than anyone I ever knew. And best I can determine, you're progressing faster than anyone ever has. I told them that I thought we should have a second DSC, for you to have one as well, because I think you have Captain potential. Maybe you aren't ready yet, maybe you are, and get this. They thought it was a good idea and they want me to continue training you, Captain Apprentice Noel Anderson." I knew I was in shock again, what did he just say?
Then he did that amazing thing again with another information dump thing like a story. First he thought to me about the research he did with Starchaser. Then he organized his thoughts and checked in with the two DSC top leaders of the Fleet and Academy, and he included the entire conversation starting with his decision of what he thought my capabilities and abilities were, because of how fast I was learning and progressing at everything. Then he finished with the Fleet Command Commander's Office and all of them were physically present for official orders that were made for me and us.
I couldn't help notice that Barrett was not going gaga over the DSC Academy Commandant in her gorgeous flowing robes at all, the way I was. I heard the Commander make his decisions, heard my promotion and I knew why he promoted me, and heard about the still-to-be-named DSC 52182 given to Barrett to command until I was ready to assume command.
I was a Captain Apprentice. Me. Noel. Brand new to the Avalonian Combine from little planet Earth. They went and gave me my own frickin DSC, just like that. I haven't stepped foot in the Academy yet and I already have a fully built and functional CCDSC. So much happened so fast, and all I did was go take a nap.
There was still so much I needed to learn and I felt completely unworthy of what happened while I was asleep dreaming of fucking Barrett, partly why I felt unworthy actually. I wondered how they could, in their right minds, give me a 900m by 850m by 65m CCDSC with Hyperspace Dimension Envelope Propulsion System and Phased Transportation System all connected by Link to the Datastream network.
My eyes again flooded with tears and I felt Barrett somehow give me a mental hug. I knew I had even more to learn as he somehow soothed my apprehensions doing nothing more than thinking to me. Like his being able to keep his thoughts from me. I need to learn how to do that too so I could be just as caring for him as he was for me. Then he wouldn't know if I was looking into Starchaser's Databanks to see how big the Star Trek, Star Wars and Babylon5 ships were to find out how big my CCDSC was by comparison and hoping someday to pop by and say, "hey guys, nice ships you got there, wanna race?"
The information on the situation planning boards now made sense. We had to get the new ship from the Maintenance Dock because it was now part of us, a Prototype Twin Ship, holy fuck the name is great, and the first one of its kind as One-Ship-In-Two-Parts. I felt joy knowing we were each to have our own DSC and we would be permanently linked together, assigned as if we were one ship in two parts. I could imagine us relaxing and just thinking to our ships flying them as an extension of our bodies like dancing together wherever we go.
My Captain was the smartest man I have ever met, like Albert Einstein. Only my Albert was the hottest Adonis man ever alive with a dick that can launch me into space. And he knows everything about me including how to give me the biggest orgasms and leave me filled with his cream. I'm going to need a refresh as soon as we can manage it. Fuck he knows it too, looking at me and, oh fuck he just made me have another mental orgasm and now my pussy is soaked, the fucker.
He had me go with him around to the front of the command chairs. As we passed by them I noticed mine no longer said Mate on the back. It now said Captain Apprentice. I knew I was his Mate, I left Earth wanting to be his and be his mate, but this didn't have to change anything. I was going to be subordinate to my Captain even when I became a Captain and that was everything to me. I always wanted to be under him, yes in every way, and having him as my leader was the way I wanted to be with him as my partner for life. With Phased Transportation it was going to be an extraordinarily long life at that.
As an Avalonian woman with my Avalonian man, I was the feminine half of our paired couple partnership as he was the masculine half, and together we were whole. I could feel and see his intentions for this plan and I was all in. He was smart enough to provide for us, to provide a way to be together and a way for me to be a Captain with Barrett and still have him as my Captain of our Twin Ship. This just made so much sense and I could not love him anymore than I already did. But somehow I did.
I understood that with getting DSC 52182, it would be my responsibility to name her, or him, definitely Him. I wanted my DSC to speak with a masculine voice. I knew how Barrett loved Starchaser and I knew I would love my ship too, so a male voice would make it feel natural. With how things are parallel in life, Starchaser would have her partner just as Barrett was my partner and my ship would be Starchaser's companion. We would also know which ship was addressing us with a distinctive voice. It just made so much sense.
Starchasen. It speaks to me, I wonder if that is how Barrett thought up Starchaser.
'Hey Barrett, what if the name of my ship was similar to Starchaser? Starchaser and Starchasen. Together they would form the Twin Ship that would be named Starchase.' I knew he had heard my thoughts but I had to say the thought out loud to make sure it sounded right in the ears. I know from experience that sometimes an idea that sounded good in my head was not so much when I said it aloud. "Starchase is the Twin Ship made up of Starchaser and Starchasen. I think that sounds good, don't you?"
I could see Barrett's happy smile from his lips to his eyes and I felt nothing but love from him. He also responded with his voice, "You honor us with this original idea, Noel, naming the new ship in the hallowed tradition of naming Avalonian Twins. And how it works for the name of the Twin Ship is perfect. It honors Starchaser and Starchaser's companion Starchasen with the Twin Ship name Starchase in both ship's names."
Then the craziest thing happened. Barrett had me face him. He had me stand at the regimented position of Attention and in his voice, he promoted me in a way that sounded formal and so very official. Just like the UltraViolet coded Datafile did with the Commander and the Commandant proclaiming official things. It was all official and on-record, and because the whole situation was UltraViolet coded, this too would exist only on Starchaser's Central Cortex Databanks until it was officially exported when everything gets unveiled and no longer treated as top secret information.
When he finished, we heard two voices in the best stereophonic speakers ever heard in the Universe on Starchaser's bridge. I recognized the voices from the UltraViolet file as the same ones who promoted me and gave Starchasen to Barrett as its first Captain. I didn't know what to do because it felt like my heart was being crushed, that the top DSC leaders were both congratulating me and using my name. Barrett showed me it was only the four of us that knew the whole situation. Suddenly the Commander and Commandant did not seem so untouchable and I could relax a little, but how was it we had come from Sol System and are now working directly with the top leaders?
Barrett didn't pause. He just went right to being in command and I loved it! Sitting there next to him I witnessed him get the Maintenance Dock on Link and formally named Starchasen. They confirmed the Commissioning name and then turned over full control of Starchasen to us. He verified the authority codes with Starchasen's Central Cortex Processor Unit and Assumed Command. Then Barrett commanded Starchasen to leave the Maintenance Dock and moved him by voice commands to the same mooring field we were in and brought him in alongside us. I jumped off my chair seeing Starchasen approach on the starboard side and watched him from the bridge windows come to a rest directly next to us. He was just as sexy as Starchaser and I got a feeling like I was dreaming this whole thing all over again.

Avalonian Combine ship sizes were determined by requirements of Farpoint Station technology, namely the Hyperspace Dimension Envelope (HDE) Propulsion and Phased Transportation (PT) Systems in their smallest configuration. The first Avalonian ships to encounter Farpoint Station were small by comparison. They gained access by following entry routes and were guided by beacons that activated as they approached.
Inside the station, they discovered it was a hollow shell construction with a stable Neutron Star at its center. The internal surface area was determined to be 4.52 x 10^16 km^2, or 45.2 quadrillion square km that is comparatively 23.4 billion times greater than the surface area of Noel's Earth in the Sol System. Exploration of the shell design revealed it was a manufactured space station with technologies never seen before. All living things on the station were not sentient and mostly flora.
Avalonians realized a higher power had chosen them to be caretakers of the ancient monument located in a vast region of emptiness in the western arm of the Galaxy. The immense volume of the station and enormity of its contents generated a recognition of the responsibility an undertaking for caretakers would require. The commitment to be Farpoint Station's custodians had a seriousness that produced the foundation chronicles.
Exploration of the station began near the original access route and it revealed technologies that became available to Avalonia over time as Farpoint adopted the Avalonians who demonstrated a sentience the station recognized as compatible. Adaptation to enable translation capabilities for historical texts eventually developed as contextual incompatibility faded. Time and experience overcame understanding gaps as relevance aided the decryption of ancient and obscure coding.
Space faring vessel shipyards were discovered complete with dormant ships. It became apparent they were ready to be powered up and used. Ship building production facilities located next to the shipyards were discovered to be highly automated and functional but just as dormant as the ships had been. There was primarily two shipyards initially, one for small short range shuttle type craft, the kind to provide station transportation, and the other that built enormously long ships. They all responded favorably to Avalonian pilots.
The long Farpoint Station ships dwarfed the largest Avalonian ships. They were longitudinal in design with cylindrical hulls arranged as a box with lattice structures connecting the four tubular hulls and half dome pods clustered in places along the 10,000 km length. The domed pods had a base diameter of 20 km in various designs of atmosphere living spaces, open cargo and spaceport facilities. Once put into service, they made possible moving a large population of Avalonia from the home planet to Farpoint Station.
The Avalonians named the longitudinal ships Long Range Survey Ships (LRSS) for their ability to travel to distant places at great speed, and for their ability to locate over a planet's surface and function as a perpendicular space elevator. The design would not disrupt a planet when used in pairs to balance gravitational effects. Their structure had a minimal interactivity with a planet's atmospheric dynamics and minimized energy exchanges that preserved existing climatic conditions.
