Author's Note: For those who have not read my bio, please note I write as a form of therapy for a Traumatic Brain Injury. I know the English majors will probably encounter issues that annoy them. If these are your focus, instead of the story itself, then this is not the story for you. I am not and will never be a professional writer.

I do it to tell the story, for those who wish to read them. I originally submitted this story back in December of 2018. I have worked to try and improve my writing style while struggling with this issue. I have added some editing software and written a few other stories. Now I am revising and editing this earlier work to try and bring it up to a higher standard from what I have managed to learn over the last few years.

Prologue

Septa 5th 11405

5 generations removed from the last champion, the only male heir remaining from her line, Gentor Silvertree and his wife Fresmau gave birth to a son Brycen Silvertree. The mother died just before the child was born. It was a fight against time to save him and his twin did not survive the delivery. Brycen was raised by a great, great Aunt Risnea on Silvertree Estates.

His father died in the war 2 years later. The time between wars got shorter but more frequent over the last 300 years, often different forces. Alternating between human rulers or orc and ogre hordes. The drow had not made an attack on the elven people in centuries. Alliance Overwatch and the return of Dwarven explosives had cut off Drow attempts to get into Elven and dwarven lands. No dragons had been seen in combat in almost 1,000 years.

Expansion into the southern river valley had given them a firm hold over the area. A new trading town named Vantus, "Barter" had sprung into existence well into elven lands but much closer than the Capital.

Every 50-70 years over the last 4 centuries an infusion of gold came to the Kingdom through the trade conducted there. As requests for undead bane weapons increased. Yet human Kingdoms were not set on anything more than a non-aggression pact in order to conduct this trade.

Through Gods' Eyes

Septa 1st 11480

"

Today is the day that a Nova is reborn.

"

Brycen awoke from a horrid dream. He stopped to pray, cleaned up, and got dressed. He went to the main house and looked at the display case that held the lit Family Moon Blade that he had seen his entire life. He sighed, "Just a bad dream."

Patron Silar Silvertree walked out of her room. She looked down, "Brycen, did you need something?"

Brycen looked up at her, "I had a dream. A nightmare really. I just had to see that the sword was still active."

Silar nodded, "You are not the only one. The head enchanter was here an hour ago doing the same thing."

Brycen nodded and went to Hellina's shelter, she was the house Master Enchanter, and from a different and distant line from his own that traced back to the days of Charlus. They were down to 5,000 Silvertree members these days.

Each major branch having a shelter of their own, none of them filled to capacity. Even with Horses, as Novella returned the ones remaining from the Blade Wielders quarters over 400 years ago and had sealed off that room. He was a part of a smaller branch, but the one in which the Moon Blade had followed previously.

Another branch also existed from when the sword jumped from one branch to another before it jumped lines to the last champion's Father. His line came from the 4 children of Novella Silvertree and the last wielder. He was the youngest and the only male left from her line.

He walked back out and headed across the compound to the other building. The one furthest away from the main house he lived in, but not in the main shelter where the library and training grounds remained. He spent hours in there working enchanting projects, all under the eyes of Hellina.

This was after graduating over 15 years earlier for the Church of Corellon Larethian. He had decided on private instruction instead of the Academy for his enchanting skills as he trained under the Master Enchanter that way and she did not train at the Academy.

He entered the other building and then the one shelter. He went to her wing, having talked with her often as she was one of his most talented instructors who seemed focused on his progression. He hoped to one day be a Master Enchanter for doing work for Corellon Larethian and the church.

He knocked on the door to her Master Suite. She looked at him, "Brycen, you needing something?"

He chuckled, "I just came from the Patrons home. I told her I had to check that the blade was still active because of a horrid dream I had."

She looked at him in shock, "Describe it."

He sighed, "The Blade went inactive. Something was going on with the Sun. Bright one day and dark the next. Then all kinds of monsters everywhere. Undead everywhere and some were ripping at me. That was when I awoke."

She pulled him into her room. She pulled a book from thin air and set it in front of him, "What do you see?"

He smiled, "Besides a Draconic spell?"

She snapped the book closed, "Come with me."

They opened the shelter and got hit with a flash of light. He looked at her, "What in the fuck was that?"

She sighed, "You're not an adult yet be careful with your language."

He rolled his eyes as he followed her. It was still too bright to see well but she seemed to know where she was going. He shielded his eyes with his arm in order to follow her feet. They walked into the other house and she walked over to the sword and it had gone dark.

He looked at her, "That nightmare?"

She nodded, "That nightmare is coming." She popped open the case. "Take the sword. You had that dream and being able to read that book tells me it is meant for you."

She knew more but she could not tell him what she knew. He would find out the facts after she had passed.

Brycen looked at her, "What makes you say that?"

Hellina looked at him, "I have been having that dream since I became the head enchanter. I received instructions, now do as you are told."

The Patron came out again from all the noise. The enchanter looked at Patron Silar, "Silar, get the amulet. NOW!"

The Patron turned and got an amulet in a small soft cloth bag. She pulled it out and he recognized the design as everyone got when they came of age. She took it and went to put it around his head.

He pulled back, "I have 4 days to go yet." She pulled him forward quickly and hung it over his neck by force. The amulet disappeared in a flash of light.

He looked at her, "Where did it go?"

She pointed, "Take your shirt off." He pulled off the shirt to see an amulet buried into his chest and glowing like the moon.

He looked at her, "What did you do to me?!"

She shook her head, "The Gods did it to you. They selected you. Now take up the sword."

He turned to move away from her and she grabbed his hand, knocking him off balance and shoved it onto the hilt of the blade. His mind felt like it was on fire from the intrusion.

He heard, "

I am Nolla'Vasi. I know you did not try to claim the blade and it was thrust upon you. You must fight corruption in your house and protect the elven people. You are worthy and the new wielder. The wielder that happens to be needed in the Dark Days ahead.

I have the following abilities locked in. Intelligence and telepathic that have no rune. Moon Fire, summon to either hand, Teleportation circle, and the god ability. Built into the blade with each having a rune.

Immunity to mental manipulation, Dragon vision, Divine non-detection, disease immunity, Danger telepathic warning, fire immunity, lightning immunity, greater evil dragon bane, freedom of movement, poison immunity, Immunity to critical hits, Casters Critical Multiplier, Spell Catcher, and Draconic grace added by Novella Silvertree. Eighteen runes and you may need them all in the coming years.

"

He looked at the enchanter, "I should use this fucking blade on you for that!"

She shook her head, "Varus'Nor is a part of you now. Again, watch your language."

Brycen shook his head, "Fuck my language! It is not Varus'Nor it is Nolla'Vasi, Dark Nova. Is that what we just had, A NOVA?!"

She looked shocked and stared at the blade, "Dark Nova was a movement led by Novella Silvertree, the last wielder. Almost two hundred years since her death. I became the Master Enchanter 92 years ago. I was by her side when she died. I have been having that dream and making things for the Gods not even sure what they are going to even do.

Going through funds as I got them. Some pieces need to be made that require 2 Master Enchanters and serious gold. A billion or more to craft and you are that second Master Enchanter, you can read the book!"

Nolla'Vasi spoke to Brycen,

"The prophecy will be completed. Get the journal and you will find several items there including the Champions Armor. Go alone."

Brycen sighed, "Now I got this fucking sword ordering me around as well."

He walked over and the blade wielder portal opened just as he approached. He thought,

"Is that normal?"

Nolla'Vasi,

"I anticipated your request. I differ because I can see through your eyes. I had the ability to see through another's eyes in life and carried it into death to be used with the new wielder. It is not an ability for you, but for me. A boon for you as long as my spirit guards over this Moon Blade. I was a collector and I will see everything as you do and can record that going forward."

He walked inside the master bedroom. The sword led him through 12 hidden vaults. He asked, "What prophecy?"

He heard Nolla'Vasi

, "Ask your Grand Cleric. Then talk with the King and gather the Council."

He mumbled, "I have no fucking voice on the Council for another 4 days."

He heard a sigh,

"You are going to ask the King a question in front of the Council. From Nova Silvertree's journal, the last few pages are what is important at the moment. I know you are angry at having this thrust upon you, but it is your destiny and responsibility. Reign in your anger."

He pulled out the book and read through the last few pages. He wanted to get sick. Then he did get sick and missed the chamber pot by feet. He put the gear on, studied his arcane spells, and prayed again for others as he had yet to cast any today and he could see the need for switching some spells around.

He thought,

"The second cleric of Corellon Larethian who has wielded this sword who also happens to be a Master Enchanter now. I thought I would be building items in the service of the Gods. A Master Enchanter someday when I was older if I was lucky. Yet this is an epically fucked up situation."

He heard the sword,

"Your statement would be funny if not for the serious nature of the problem the Elven People are facing."

He walked out, "Seal blade wielders portal."

He carried one bag with him as the Master Enchanter looked at him, "Get any insight?"

He nodded, "You should come with me. You started this mess."

She sighed and nodded. They walked outside together. They had not had house guards in over a century. He teleported them to the church to see the Grand Cleric. They walked up toward the Council Chambers and they got stopped by a Paladin, "The Grand cleric asked not to be disturbed. He is a meeting with the other Grand Clerics."

Brycen nodded, "I am needed in that meeting. Let them know I have the Master Enchanter from House Silvertree with me. I am Brycen Silvertree Cleric of Corellon Larethian and also a Master Enchanter. I am the new Champion to Corellon Larethian. I am here about the prophecy dealing with the recent solar event."

One of the paladins walked off to the Council chamber. He came back a few minutes later, "Follow me."

They followed him into the Council chamber. He nodded to the grand cleric. He took his shirt and armor off so he could see the holy symbol. He sighed, "We do not have any information beyond the prophecy."

Brycen nodded, "I need a copy of the prophecy. I am headed to the Palace next. I know you took ownership of them under the reign of the Dark King."

He put his shirt and armor back on. One of the clerics tending to the grand cleric handed him the prophecy. He read through it. "This was the last prophecy from this Grand Cleric?"

He nodded, "There are no more from him. All others have come to pass as he predicted."

Brycen nodded, "Thank you for your time."

He got the Master Enchanter by him and they teleported to the front of the Palace and walked in. He thought,

"Are you able to talk to the other swords?"

He heard,

"No. I can send a danger warning."

He got in line.

---

King Goldeagle was listening to two nobles argue and his sword alerted him, "The Silvertree blade is in the hands of a new wielder. They just entered the Palace. With the Solar event, I put the odds of this being related and him or her being a champion as extremely high."

---

The King looked in his direction and saw the sword and armor. He held up a hand, "I have been alerted to an issue I must address." He got up and a page came over with a note,

"Fourth floor. Conference room

."

He took the Master Enchanter, more as if she took him. She led the way as she had been there before. He walked around and the portal opened.

He thought,

"Anticipating again?"

He heard a chuckle. He thought,

"Why are you the spirit of the sword? What happened to Varus'Nor?"

He heard back, "

In this form, I am something new. Every time you read something or have a conversation, I will record it. Varus'Nor had someone waiting for him in the afterlife. I did not. I am not the nurturer he was. In fact, I barely have it.

Only when training others in life did I find a measure of that, now I am left with the training of you to be the champion the people need in this dark time. Given what was coming my time in this sword could be very short. I was trained and formed by magic to be a weapon. I always felt that way, and now I am one.

"

Council members started arriving. He walked into the shelter and stood there waiting for them to get seated. The King walked in. He bowed to him and he waved Brycen off, "In here we are all holders of blades; except for the Master Enchanter you brought with you. I have been flooded with inquiries about the significance of the events with the sun. Do you have any answers?"

He nodded, "Yes. I am Brycen Silvertree. One of the last things she did before she died is surprising. Nova sent the Nova Base away. I know where it went, by the direction of her will and the Gods. It arrived in our sun today and dropped shields. The light is from a release of Magic from the destruction of a relic. It is relevant.

I was directed to ask you a question. Prior to her death, Nova came to see the King, your grandfather. She asked for the crown to monitor necromancy around the world using Alliance Overwatch which she turned over to him. To take action to curtail it. Have you been doing that? What do we know?"

He sighed, "Alliance Overwatch was merged into Overwatch with the damage that occurred. It has been keeping an eye on areas we can do things about. My grandfather told her we cannot be the caretaker for the world. He had this in his journal to me. Our duty is to the elven people. The sword jumped to me when he died 80 years ago."

He looked across and saw the relay crystals.

He walked out and opened the bag to get the two Gods' Eyes terminals. He walked back in and set them on the table. "I have not turned these on yet. The sword is no longer Varus'Nor and is now Nolla'Vasi. She took over as she had nobody waiting for her in the afterlife.

She had lovers but never married for those who do not know. Your 7 times removed grandfather was the father of her Silvertree children. I am 6 generations removed from both of them on my father's side. She was a collector, mentally for those who do not know. As such her knowledge far exceeds anyone or thing in this room.

That is not a slight. She was a collector and she is still a collector. Your grandfather told her 'We will see what we can do.' She stressed to him that it was of paramount importance. He dismissed her because he thought age was catching up with her. That is from her journal."

He turned on the displays. He pressed the crystal on one. "Go west until you encounter a large cluster of necromancy signatures."

He pressed the other, "Go south until you find a large cluster of necromancy." He changed each display and set each of the twelve in a different direction.

He looked at the King, "There is a prophecy associated with a nova event. It is several millennia old. The same one who predicted Eldar and all of the grand clerics of that time.

There were 21 prophecies from this Grand Cleric and every single one of them, except this one, came true. Including the world being abandoned by most if not all Dragons. The Nova Base going into the sun buys us some additional time. The Nova was destined to occur even before the base was sent or she was given the name, Nova by her mother.

In 500 years the sun will go dark and the world will be covered with the undead. The only way to save our people is to get them out before then. We have to work to abandon this world. The longer we wait, the fewer we will be able to save. We have to build an interdimensional bridge.

I have items listed including spells needed for each and everything that needs to be constructed. I will start building vessels in which to carry a portion of our Gods with us to travel to this new world."

The Master Enchanter chimed in, "I have built them but they need to be finished. I can only do that with a second Master Enchanter. I did not know what their purpose would be, just that I had to build vessels. He is that enchanter. He can read the third book."

Brycen nodded, "Good to know at least that part will go faster. In order to build and activate this bridge, we have to divide our Gods' power. Tied to elven relics and our faith in the Gods. Expect the wars to get more frequent. The losses to mount. We have to start scouting other worlds to find one to call home.

We have to have vessels completed first so we have ties to the Gods for the clerics and even the sources of our magic. That means we have to have all of the pieces built here. This side assembled. Scout and find us a home. Then the other half of the bridge assembled and activated on the new world.

We have to have it all built before we take the vessels to the other side. Your Master Enchanters will be split. I will be going and leading these scouting efforts when that starts. I had forgotten to mention that I am the new Champion to Correlon as well as being one of his Clerics."

Brycen returned to the displays and cycled through them and they had all stopped.

He pressed the crystal, "Give us the worldview for all six displays." He repeated it on the other as they looked at the rot on our world. "I would need to get the Council and the King to agree that this is now a priority. Our inaction during this time has made matters worse.
