Authors Note: For those who have not read my bio, please note I write as a form of therapy for a Traumatic Brain Injury. I know the English majors will probably encounter issues that annoy them. If these are your focus, instead of the story itself, then this is not the story for you. I am not and will never be a professional writer.
I do it to tell the story, for those who wish to read them. I originally submitted this story back in mid-2017 to mid-2018. I have worked to try and improve my writing style while struggling with this issue. I have added some editing software and written a few other stories. Now I am revising and editing this earlier work to try and bring it up to a higher standard from what I have managed to learn over the last few years.
Chapter 31
Death and Life
The time between his father's death and Annette's return seemed to be a blur. Meeting with other House Elders and House Patrons who expressed their regrets for his loss. Charlemagne and Eldar were rarely in the same place for very long as they each found themselves trying to do double duty. Her for Annette's and Eldar for his father.
They awoke at house Silvertree on the morning of the 5th of Junta 7016 the caches had been cleared and the billion in gold destined for the humans was sitting in the Elven bank. The equipment had been stashed away. Until the Knights got the assurances, they would need from the new Queen in 2 years.
It took longer than expected for Annette's return, as 1 week turned into 2 weeks, and she was unaware of Heliar's death. Eldar was told they would let him break the news after she arrived, as he made that specific request as he was angry at the delay. Lady Silver Hair was to teleport her back at mid-day. They looked forward to her return.
Annette's expected return allowed them to finally schedule the funeral on the 6th of Junta 7016. Eldar had Silver Moon watch over his apprentices for a few days here and there while he worked to take care of funeral arrangements. Tranosa and Goldeagle kept everything running with the Knights. They had almost doubled in size with the addition of the dwarves.
Construction of the Academy had a whole team of royal engineers on-site who worked on laying it out. They had all the plans together. They started bringing in the materials to build it. The church also made progress. Another team from the church dedicated to the construction of the building was in place.
Eldar still ensured they did not waiver on his design request too much or to how the floor space would be allocated, including a hospital wing for maternity and wounded soldiers.
The dwarves requested a spot to build a church for their deities. They allocated a spot but would hold the building until the Keep and Fort were done. They could do the towers as they progressed. Greentree was a force of nature as the sawmills came up, the construction phase went into full swing.
The enchanters delivered the first set of massive stoves. 3 of the 6 massive stoves for the inn were in place with the others scheduled to be installed once delivered. The other 2 from the initial 8 were for the future inn at the other crossroad.
22 normal-sized stoves went into the villages. Elder Silver, Eldar's apprentices, and Eldar's family home were the first to be changed over. They did an equal number of stoves in each village including Elder Strong Oak who had made time to visit with her nephew whenever she could. She enjoyed the time to walk and talk with him for hours about what he had learned.

Eldar went to the Academy to speak with Moon Bow on what was discovered if anything. The report from the Dragons had not been given to him and he had grown impatient. He caught Moon Bow as he finished classes before the mid-day meal and he looked disturbed. Eldar walked over to him, "I need to know what they found out about that wizard."
Sir Moon Bow looked at Eldar, "That was some of the darkest magic I have ever seen and it disturbs me even now. The wizard was into the Necromancy arts. Several tomes were taken by the dragons as 'dragon business.' Based on conjecture I would say at the very least, attempting to be a lich is highly probable and his threat to dragons very credible."
Eldar nodded, "I am sorry for subjecting you to that but I was the wrong person for the job. I was too close to the pain."
He nodded, "Your father was a good man, a great diplomat."
Eldar smiled, "It was only in the last year he was working on becoming a better father but we built some bridges."
Eldar headed back to House Silvertree and held his green crystal to Lord Regal. He spoke, "How are you Eldar?"
Eldar glared at the crystal. "I am sitting in my father's office trying to decide if I want to use this crystal for target practice. First, you delayed in getting my wife back. Causing my father's funeral to be delayed. Then I get no information on what was found in the wizard's room or the site of his, 'disappearance.' Can you explain this issue to me?"
Lord Regal sounded a little annoyed, "Your wife was in a remote location which we did not have. We had to wait for them to return to a known location. It was for her safety. From what I understand nothing of importance was discovered in the wizard's room."
Eldar shook his head, "You might want to double-check that last statement. I spoke with Sir Moon Bow. There were several volumes removed that dealt with dark necromancy. He was simply told it was 'Dragon business.' Some of the darkest magic he had ever seen. I understand that statement for him. Not for me!"
Lord Regal genuinely sounded confused, "Let me...contact you back. I will get in touch with Lady Silver Hair because I was not given that information."
Eldar sighed, "I am headed to the palace to meet my returning wife. If I see her first, I will ask her about this 'confusion.' At the end of a sword if needed!"
Lord Regal grunted, "You will hear from me shortly."
The crystal went dark. Eldar stepped out and saddled up T'suras, who just got the new enchanted saddle that cost 50,000 gold pieces to enchant. It would protect both the rider and the horse. The only way the enchanter knew how to do it and still cover the horse.
---
Lord Regal pulled the blue pearl he had to Lady Silver Hair and thought to her,
"Eldar knows the tomes taken from the wizard had dark necromancy. Not the contents but enough he is threatening to hold you at sword point when he sees you."
