Friday...

The Golden Scroll busted into multiple sparkles, illuminating James' bedroom with bright golden light.

Of course, the knowledge about scroll creation had been lost a long time ago, but according to legends, it was one of the most respected professions in ancient times.

There were many types of scrolls like the Blood Scroll; this scroll was also known as the Red Scroll due to its appearance; the creation of this Red Scroll required blood as an ingredient.

In the same way, one could use fragments of their soul to create a scroll known as the Soul Scroll. This type of scroll was golden in color, which also earned it the name Golden Scroll; it could hold any kind of knowledge or secret within it.

But the most important use of the Soul Scroll was to hold powerful spiritual weapons, spiritual herbs, and most importantly spiritual essence.

Of course, the more powerful thing that is placed within the scroll, the more soul energy it would consume.

Even though the creation and use of the Soul Scroll demanded extreme sacrifice, the most important thing was the fragment of the soul also ensured that the scroll reached the hand of the right person.

In ancient times, while it was rare, it was still being practiced to create and use the Soul Scroll to make sure only a certain person received the item within that scroll.

But again, the strength and quality of the Soul Scroll depended on its creator's soul powers; if the soul of its creator was strong, the soul fragment could also manifest in spirit form to deliver a certain message, or to perform a certain task, on behalf of the creator of the scroll.

The bright golden light slowly started to recede; at first, the form appeared abstract, but gradually, it started to shape into a humanoid form— corporeal humanoid form, to be accurate.

The more the light dimmed, the more human-like the shape appeared to become; eventually, one could see the form of an old man.

If one looked closely, the old man had the same facial features as Immortal Emperor Han Wu.

The ghostly being looked at unconscious James, only to notice a bright gold and silver aura being emitted by the young man's body, a clear indication of the clash of Real-Life Yin Essence and Real-Life Yang Essence.

A thin smile appeared on the ghostly figure's face; after all, the presence of Real-Life Yang Essence within the body of this young man was a clear indication that his brother had kept his word, and that Real-Life Yin Essence had also entered the body of the young man; it was time for him to act.

The hands of the corporeal old man quickly moved and he pressed them against the chest of unconscious James, to stabilize his body while making sure the proper merger of Real Life Yin and Yang Essence.

At first, nothing happened, but after a few moments, James' erratic breathing became calm, the gold and silver hue on his skin started to decrease, and eventually his skin tone became even. Once James' body was calm, the corporeal old man removed his hands from James' chest and took hold of the wooden box.

The ghostly figure charged a powerful energy pulse into the wooden box, forcing it to wither away, revealing a blue Qilin statue that was hidden within the box.

The ghostly old man took hold of the statue and looked at James. After observing James for a few moments, he placed his one hand over James' body and his fingers started to dance to some invincible tune.

Suddenly, one frozen and withered Lotus-like object came into existence. Since all its petals were gone, and it had also run out of its Extreme Yin Spiritual energy, it was barely existing, of course, the ghostly figure was quick to recognize the Jade Lotus and how it might have been used as a cauldron to hold the Real Life Yang Essence, which made sense, since he had used the Soul Scroll to hold his Real- Life Yin Essence.

The ghostly figure was about to discard the withered Yin Lotus, but suddenly it noticed multiple Yin Strands that were originating from the withering lotus and binding the young man in what could be said was an illusion.

This was shocking, since it was never part of his plan!

The spirit of the old man observed the Yin Strands, which were nine in total.

'NINE MOON ILLUSION Technique', the ghostly being was shocked if such a thing were even possible, since this was a powerful illusion method; only those who have reached the rank of Immortal Emperor or above, could cast this illusion!

This meant only one thing— the illusion was cast by his brother since he had asked his brother to only come back when he had reached the level of Immortal Emperor, but the question was why? And what was the purpose of this illusion?

But before he could look further into it, suddenly, the blue Qilin statue moved and absorbed the remains of the Jade Lotus, along with those nine Yin Strands that were creating an illusion around the young man.

This was, again, shocking for the ghostly being, since from the very start, things were going off the track, but the expression of panic only appeared for a brief moment and then it was gone, and replaced by serene peace.

'You could defy heaven, but you cannot defy your destiny!'

With that thought, again the silhouette weaved his hands and the Qilin statue moved toward James' head, and once it touched James' head, it released a blinding blue light and turned into a corporeal form similar to the silhouette and entered James' head.

The ghostly being looked at the young man lying unconscious before him with a saddened expression, and mouthed a 'sorry'; the silhouette turned into a golden sparkle that disappeared into thin air.

...

He wasn't sure where he was, but he knew he was there. He couldn't see anything, but he wasn't sure why. Whether it was the darkness that was obstructing his vision, or did he lack the ability to see?

There was no sound, maybe he had lost his hearing; the same could be said about his sense of smell since there was none.

Of course, this kind of confiscated sense of existence scared him. He knew he was alive, yet not living!

This lack of sense frustrated him and he gathered all of his courage to scream his lungs out, and tried to do so, but again there was no sound coming out of him.

Where the hell was he? Why the hell was he at whatever this place was? And above all this, why was he here?

That last question triggered a memory of him touching the Golden Scroll and the feeling of mind-numbing coldness, and immediately his senses returned; he was standing before what one could consider a snow mountain.

He was standing on the snow, without any clothes on his body, which just increased the sense of being frozen, if such a thing were even possible!

But even before he could question where he was, or the absurdity of the situation, the entire landscape changed, and suddenly, he was in the middle of a desert, surrounded by extreme heat and burning sand.

'Fuck! What the hell is going on?'

He could feel the fiery hotness that was trying to burn him. But again, the scenario changed and he was standing on what appeared to be a crystalline ice slab while surrounded by a towering ice glacier. 'What the...?!'

This time, even before he could have a coherent thought, again the scenario changed; he was then falling inside a pit that was brimming with red-hot lava.

'Wha...?!'

Before he could hit the lava, again his surroundings changed. He was in what could be described as vast darkness, there was nothing around him except a moon-like object that was slowly increasing in size.

'Fuck, what?!' He was surprised by the way the moon was growing, and only when it had reached the size of the sun, did he realize what was happening— it wasn't increasing in size; instead, the moon was coming toward him with intense speed!

'Oh god no...!'

But again before he could complete that thought, a bright yellow light started to burn his back, so he quickly turned around only to find the sun behind him, which was also coming toward him from the opposite side.

'Oh, hell no!!!'

One part of his body was cold due to the effect of the moon-like thing, while the side which was facing the sun was extremely hot.

He wasn't sure what to do, with a moon-like thing coming toward him from his left side, and a sun-like object coming toward him from the right. He was in the middle of it. Of course, he was scared; he wanted to escape from this strange sun-moon collision that was about to happen, but at the same time, he realized his body wouldn't budge.

'It's just a dream, right? I mean how could the sun and moon collide with each other, right?' But at the same time, the increased heat and cold were enough to convince him otherwise; he knew even if this was a dream, the pain was real! 'Fuck me I don't want to die, but what in the hell is going on! Please God, Please save me!'

The heat on his right side had increased to such an extent, that it had started to burn, while at the same time, his left side had turned into a crystalline ice.

From afar, he appeared like a statue that was made of fire and ice!

The sun and moon had moved a lot closer to him, and it was just a few seconds before the collision, when suddenly, a golden dome-like structure appeared around him.

Again, he wasn't sure what it was, but before he could think, the light due to the sun-moon collision was so bright, that it blinded his vision. Not only that, the pressure of this collision was such that even though this golden dome was protecting him, it still forced him to his knees.

He wasn't sure how long this phenomenon lasted, but the next thing he noticed was the blue space that surrounded him.

Even though he was already overwhelmed, witnessing the sun-moon collision, his consciousness was still functioning enough to notice this weird blue space that surrounded him.

But if this entire event wasn't enough to force him to question his sanity, then what happened next was enough for him to start doubting whether he had lost his marbles.

The entire blue space was filled with golden symbols. Of course, he had never seen these symbols before and he failed to recognize them, and even if he had seen these symbols before, he still would fail to recognize them because the symbols weren't constant; instead, they were flashing around.

After a brief moment of flashing before his eyes, the blue space released a blinding blue light. This was strange since he would see similar flashes of light whenever he used any skill or powers from the system; the only difference was that, instead of being white, the color of the light was blue.

Upon heeding his command, the system screen appeared with information about his 'Stats', of course, this sudden appearance of the system screen was shocking for him but what even shocked him to his very core and scared the shit out of him was the appearance of multiple cracks on the screen and with loud screeching noise the screen shattered into pieces.

'OH NO! SHIT, SHIT...' He kept cursing, but the blue space started to shine, the blue brightness was too much for him and again his vision was blinded by it.

Once the brightness had depleted he tried to open his eyes, only to find himself back in his room inside his body.

"Fuck!"

James opened his eyes only to find himself lying flat on his bedroom floor.

'OH MY GOD! WHAT WAS THAT!' That was the weirdest dream he had ever seen! While he was still getting a hold of himself, the thoughts of that dream, or whatever that was, were too much for him to handle, so he clenched his head with both his hands, trying not to puke, as there was an extreme sense of revulsion within his stomach.

The pressure from that dream was such, that his mind appeared to have lost control over his digestive system. He quickly took deep breaths, closed his eyes, and tried to calm his mind. At first, nothing happened, but slowly, it calmed his body.

He sat on the floor in a meditative pose. After the accident, this was a method that would work for him; sometimes, the dreams were so bad that he would even lose control over his physical faculties, such as his digestive system and his bladder.

So, when he heard a suggestion from an old man at the hospital, about sitting in this meditative pose, saying that it could help him, he started to do so. Whenever he felt overwhelmed by a dream, he would wake up and immediately sit in a meditative pose and focus on his breathing; this would help him most of the time.

Of course, since the dreams had stopped, he had also stopped doing this, but since he had felt the lurching sensation within his stomach, he knew he had to do something and that is what he did.

It took him a few minutes to get hold of his body, and only once he was sure that he wasn't going to puke his guts out, did he open his eyes and try to stand up.

Of course, he had a bit of difficulty. For instance, he felt strange, he couldn't point his finger at it, but he felt something had changed.

'But what the hell just happened?' When he opened the scroll he was practically paralyzed and then just passed out. He looked down and used his hands to touch almost all parts of his body to just make sure he was still alive and that his entire body was fine.

It took him a few more minutes to confirm that the whole sun-moon collision was just a dream, a strange yet realistic dream!

He had played a lot of video games and most of them had top-notch graphics and scenarios, but never in his life, had he seen the scenes that he saw in that dream! The dream that started after he had opened the scroll and talked about scroll; where the hell did that damn scroll and the wooden box just disappear to?

Once he was sure he could move, he tried to look around, but both the scroll and the wooden box were nowhere to be seen; it was like both those items had just disappeared into thin air.

He looked at his watch, it was around seven in the morning; so once after going through the morning ritual, he walked out of his room only to find the entire house empty. Only then did he remember that his Dad and Viviana were gone on their weekend cruise trip, while Debby had gone to Vegas to visit her granny.

The first thing, after entering the kitchen, he did was to drink as much water as he could, and then he started to eat everything that was inside the fridge. Since his mind was still going through the dream, he didn't notice that the water and food that he consumed was a lot more than he normally did.

'But where is that damn scroll and box, just gone?' With that, he rushed back to his room and looked under the bed and table; he also went through the drawers, but the scroll and wooden box were nowhere to be found. "Fuck, all this is just sheer madness... I mean nothing just makes sense, and it started when..." He felt a sense of dread. "The System is functioning properly, right? But I saw the screen being broken into multiple pieces."

"Stats." He called for the system.

Only for him to do his best to not start screaming like a child when everything around him changed. Suddenly, his bedroom was gone, replaced by endless blue-colored space. Everything around him was replaced by this blue nothingness, and he was floating in it; this was the same blue space that he had seen in his dream!

'What the...?' Even before he could complete his thought, a blue three-dimensional screen appeared before him with his stats info.

"Fu—" Even the curse word died at the sight before him. Gone was the old, low-graphic stats window, replaced by the realistic three-D screen with all the information appearing in gold fonts:

'Oh my fucking God...!!! Shit, shit... What in fucking hell is going on? First, I meet an old man, then have this gamer-like ability; then I meet another old man, who gives me a scroll and after opening the scroll, I see a weird dream about the sun and moon colliding; then the system screen shatters and instead of it just disappearing— bang, the system got upgraded!'

"Is anyone going to explain to me what in the hell is going on?"

Of course, there was no answer; he was just standing there in a vast blue space, staring at his 'Stats' window.

'What in the hell is this strange new information? It wasn't there before, right? Not only did the graphic change, but also the information had been changed.

'Level 1', I know about that but what is this 'Body Refinement' thingy? It wasn't there in the older version. Maybe this is the name of this level or something like that? Who knows?!

'Life span is one hundred years? Well, this is what I guess it is, and it is good, right? I mean only a healthy human lives for a hundred years.

'Real-Life Human Body, now what does it mean? I mean I know I have a human body so that's something I understand, but what is this Real-Life thing? Maybe it is referencing this whole gamer-like thing!

'Yes, that would make sense. So, this gamer-like thing is so real that it had this Real-Life added to my body type, it's like virtual reality, or something like that! Well, that would make sense.

'HP at one hundred. Wait a minute, why HP at one hundred? It was at ninety just last night after that accident, yet why is it at a hundred right now? I mean I haven't done any sexual thing, right? Well yeah, I haven't done anything. And even if I have done something, shouldn't the XP also increase?

'Could it be other things affect my HP aside from the mission? Could be, or maybe after opening that scroll, something happened that somehow increased my HP. Yes, except that there is no proper explanation for the increase of my HP.

'XP and LVL are still the same, which means whatever influenced my HP, wasn't able to influence my XP and LVL, and talking about LVL it's fucking zero. I know it saved my life, but damn! I lost eight LVL which means I will have to wait a lot longer to level up, I mean I know I don't know what levelling up means with this ability, but damn, being a gamer, I am just really hopeful to level up soon. Just for the heck of finding out what happens when I level up.

'And talking about change, why did the stamina also change? I mean, last I can remember, it was at six after I first tried 'Re-Sizer' and Julia caught me jerking off. After that, I don't remember getting any increase in 'Stamina', yet it is at ten. I mean I am not complaining, but it's like there is some kind of other factor that is affecting my stats.

'Or maybe it had something to do with the system update, I mean it doesn't happen normally, but there are many games that give some extra perks with each new update, and somehow, this update could be the reason for the change in my HP and Stamina!'

Suddenly, his mobile blared to life; he looked at the screen only to find Nancy was calling him.

'What the hell? Why is she calling me?'

"Hey Nancy!"

"Oh thank god! James, I thought something bad might have happened to you, you weren't picking up your phone from past evening."

"Oh, about that, well, I kind of was sleeping this whole time and my phone was in silent mode, so yeah, I am sorry, Nancy... "

"No, no that's fine, James; it's just, I was kind of worried for you."
