Alex and Luminia were busy going over the schematics and design of the bridge they wanted built. They had finally decided about the structure and aesthetics of the bridge when a holocall pinged them. Curious on what it was about, Alex ambled over and answered it.
"Commodore Tomisic, did I catch you at a bad time?" Korsa asked over the line.
"Not at all Doctor. Was just going over some details of the bridge for the crevasse with Luminia. What is it?" he asked, concerned.
"The results from your tests and the girls' have come back and they are... well, unexpected!" the Khontaran woman told him.
"Oh? Please, explain," Alex said.
"It would be much better if you were down here to hear and see it for yourself, sir. I have already put out the call to the rest of the crew, informing them to get their butts down here, ASAP," Korsa informed him.
"As you wish, Doctor. Luminia and I will be on our way down momentarily," he told her as he weighed the news he had just heard. There was much that he would have to think over, that much was certain. Whatever the doctor had found, he hoped that it wasn't anything that would prove troublesome to them.
Alex gestured to Luminia, and she followed along, right on his heels. They quickly made their way to the monorail station and were on their way to the hospital wing in minutes. They disembarked the moment they arrived, both of them anxious about what Korsa had to say about these new powers emerging as they had.
Alex walked into the hospital wing and found that the rest of the crew had already arrived. By the look of things, most had only just walked in and were settling into their seats. Alex looked around and saw that couple more chairs sat there for both him and Luminia.
"Ah, Commodore! Glad you made it here so quickly! Please, sit!" Korsa said anxiously. Nodding, Alex seated himself, as did Luminia, and they waited for it to begin.
"As you all know, some of us have... manifested certain new abilities, which has given rise to where it all came from. Though I may not have all the answers, I possess some of them at least," Korsa began as various holographs sprang to life around her.
"These holograms show your biometrics and body activity. These are all what they were from before," she stated in a sweeping gesture. "This is going on inside each one of you, right now."
At this statement, replicates of the current holograms flared to life next to each current one. These new holos displayed something that differed greatly from the old ones! DNA helix strands, brain activity and even the very bloodstreams of everyone who had manifested this power were lit up like a tree on Christmas eve!
"These DNA chains that are now active, what's going on with that?" Natalya asked.
"I'm still trying to figure that out myself, but from what I can tell, these chains which are now active, are the catalyst, or the result of our abilities. It doesn't just end there Nats. Have a look at the brain activity," Korsa went on.
Natalya did just that and saw that said brain activity differed greatly from what it was previously! She gaped at these new changes, wondering just how they came about and why they came to be!
"Our Infra-Low and Gamma waves seem to be operating at a higher level now!" Kasumi said out loud. "And what's this? I've never seen brainwaves like this!"
"That, is an entirely new set of brainwaves active in you, me, Nats, Shazza and Alex. I call them 'Epsilon Waves.' Whatever they are, we can now link them to both our increased brainwaves and our DNA chains. They operate at a much higher frequency than most brainwaves, well above forty-three hertz," Korsa explained.
"But... that's impossible! No one has brainwaves that operate above forty-three hertz! Not even the most talented psionics of the galaxy!" Inari breathed.
"Well, unless you think all of this medical equipment here is garbage, then you could be right. But I've triple checked the findings back and forth. What you're seeing here is real," Korsa told her friend.
"So... these brainwaves, combined with the now active DNA... is responsible for my... otherworldly abilities?" Alex asked.
"It would seem so, but they go further than that. Here are the samples of your other bodily functions as of now," Korsa told him, as she queued up the samples. In his neural pathways, bloodstream, even right down Alex's very cells, sporadically flared with violet energy. He couldn't believe what he was seeing and was amazed, that such a transformation had happened to him!
"It's not just you that this is happening to," Korsa went on as she also brought up the holos for Natalya, Kasumi, Shazza and herself. They all displayed bursts of power and energy within them, each one of a different color.
"I have found one interesting correlation with our new Epsilon waves. They seem to operate on a frequency similar to each other, yet unique to each one of us," Korsa stated, showing everyone comparisons between their new brainwaves. She was right on how they were all similar, yet differed in both obvious and subtle ways.
"Interesting thing is, that our... abilities, manifested almost simultaneously, which is both intriguing and bizarre," Korsa went on, stumped about how it could have happened.
"I think the Ghost of the Ages had something to do with this," Luminia supplied.
"I believe so, but I'm stumped how it affected Alex first, then us afterwards. Especially since he could fight the bastard like he did," the Khontaran woman said.
"That's a good point. How did that happen Alex? Do you have anything you think could explain it?" Kasumi wondered.
"If I did, I would have said something. I'm at just as much of a loss as the rest of you are. I do not understand how I could break out as I did. Maybe something with those women in my dreams, these... Violet Ladies. I would like to get some answers out of them if I ever see them again," Alex stated, bewildered by all of this.
"That would be a good place to start, as your energies are violet. So, these Violet Ladies, who or whatever they are, must be real somehow. Anything you could learn from them would shed some light on the things I don't know. But there is also another matter that I need to bring up," Korsa went on.
"Oh? What is that?" Pree asked, who was equal parts amazed and mystified at what she was learning.
