In the outer reaches of space, several thousand light-years from the planet of Bok, a large asteroid enclosed with a glass dome provided shelter to several million souls. There, they were free to frolic, all of their basic needs met. The people did not age, but they were not permitted to leave.
In the temple in the centre of the asteroid, four ethereal beings sat in their giant thrones. Each one of them were imbued with special powers, but all of them were powerful and nearly omniscient. They were currently contemplating matters of the universe.
Shijzan broke from her meditation. "There is a focus."
The other goddesses broke their concentration. Kleeda, with her large muscles and blue cracking skin, arose from her throne. "What did you see?"
Shijzan put her hands to her forehead. Her own golden skin glowed as she increased her focus. "There is a planet that is close to the precipice. They will soon unlock the technological breakthrough, the one that will challenge their existence. It is not far off."
"What are we to do?" asked Melbrik, rising up.
Shijzan opened her glowing yellow eyes. "We must infiltrate. We can decide if the planet is worth saving."
Melbrik folded her arms. "I do not grow sentimental over those who wish to destroy themselves."
Shijzan gave a slight smile. "What of the people of Bok? Would you abandon them as quickly?"
Melbrik bristled at the inference. "I have an affinity for their people. This is not a flaw of mine that I do not share it with all."
Arquis arose, then put her hands together in a sweet manner. Her fine curvy green body began to glow. "Arquis can confirm," Kleeda said.
"Very well," Melbrik relented. "We shall commence the observance. I assume we will have to assume their form again."
"You assume correct, Melbrik," Shijzan remarked. She placed a hand on Melbrik's shoulder. "You are concerned with her, are you not? Oola?"
Melbrik looked away. "I do not concern myself with mere mortals."
"She rejected all of us," Shijzan intoned in a warm voice. "She had her reasons. The power that we all have is a great temptation, and she traded it for love. She is strong, and her child will be the greatest of their planet."
Melbrik pursed her lips, but softened her stance. "She could have been a great goddess. She is impulsive, but her heart is big."
Shijzan reached around to give Melbrik a hug. "This is a coincidence as well. Oola is familiar with our destination."
"What is the name of this planet?" asked Kleeda.
"It is a lovely blue planet, with a great many oceans," Shijzan announced. "It has a singular moon, and a warm sun. You will know it as Earth."
Melbrik sputtered. "I suppose the population bears at least some resemblance to us."
"You will like their form," Kleeda responded. "We will have their language, their emotions, and their cultural understanding."
"Luckily, not their vulnerabilities," Melbrik replied. "It has been several millennia since we have had to do such an endeavour."
"We should prepare ourselves," Kleeda cautioned. "We will have to depart soon." She waved a hand up, and a hologram of the Earth appeared before the goddesses. A red dot flashed in southern Nevada. "We have selected a city known for revelry. It was made as a destination for enjoyment and showmanship."
"These creatures sound impractical," Melbrik groused.
"The humans, as they are known, are curious about the universe," Shijzan remarked. "They will leave the confines of their system. Perhaps one will be in our sanctuary someday."
"Shall we, then?" asked Kleeda.
"I suppose we must," Melbrik stated.
The four of them held out a hand, then the room glowed brightly.
The four goddesses found themselves standing on a busy street, with people brushing past them. There were many flashing lights in just about every direction, and cars were whizzing by on the wide street. No one had noticed their fading into existence right on the street.
Shijzan examined her temporary form. She had long blonde hair and golden skin, and her body was slender and alluring. She had firm and plump boobs with a tight little booty. All of it was covered up by a stretch black dress that went halfway down her thighs, accented by a pair of black pumps. She wore a pendant with the four directions depicted.
Melbrik's long red hair was braided up behind her head, and she had on a pair of small shades. Her charcoal pantsuit still showed off an impressive amount of cleavage from her white blouse, and she also wore a pair of red pumps. Her skin was more fair. She was also the tallest of the four goddesses. She had a pendant with a fox's face.
Arquis had a sweet cherubic face, and a soft body to match. She had nice, generous curves on her, and her hair was a curly cascade with hints of green. She appeared to be southeast Asian. She was dressed up in a short skirt and plain white t-shirt, with thigh-high stockings and platform shoes. She had a pendant with a pelican.
Kleeda was a fine black woman with very short hair. Her arms were toned, in keeping with her goddess status as the one with strength. She also had generously thick thighs and a booty to match. She had on a white tank top and grey yoga pants, and also a pair of tennis shoes. She also wore large hoop earrings and an pendant shaped like a barbell.
The four goddesses examined their new forms. "I'm happy with how I look!" Shijzan giggled as she surprised herself with how her human voice sounded. "Oh, it's so different! I can feel the heat!"
Melbrik did an eye roll. "Looks like we've all got attitudes to match our looks. This language seems so guttural."
"Cheer up, Melbrik!" Kleeda reached over and gave Melbrik a playful shove. "Get with it! We're here in Vegas!"
"It's
Las
Vegas," Melbrik corrected.
"Yeah, but no one says it like that," Kleeda retorted. "Have some fun for once! I love being human." She closed her eyes and inhaled. "Food! I haven't eaten for so long. What do you think they have here?"
Shijzan looked around the strip. "There's lots to do. What do you say we split up and find some people to be with? We can all meet back here in an Earth cycle." She patted the purse under her arm. "You all have your gateways."
Each of the goddesses had a purse for which they could summon just about anything they needed for the trip. The purses all matched--a red leather bag.
Melbrik touched Arquis's arm. "Do you want to join me? It will be hard trying to mingle without the ability to speak. Your words will probably cause distress to the people."
Arquis's words usually caused chaos. She opened her purse, then pulled out a cell phone. She typed into the device, then pressed the play button. "I CAN USE THIS TO SPEAK."
Melbrik managed a small smile. "You're truly the wisest of us all."
Shijzan kicked up a heel and squealed. "This is going to be so much fun!"
The four of them parted ways, looking to find some companionship.
Shijzan allowed herself to get taken in by the sights and sounds. The view provided a sense of over-stimulation and awe. Shijzan's human form made her feel smaller. Although she was not vulnerable to any attack, she still felt as if her diminutive stature gave her perspective on how humans felt. She glanced over the people around her. Many looked wrapped up in various fun activities, while some looked sullen and disinterested. Shijzan was not sure if she could ever understand the problems of mortals.
She felt a strange sensation in her lower torso. She clutched at her flat tummy, then nodded. "Hunger," she muttered. It had been so long since she assumed humanoid form that she had almost forgotten. She looked around for a restaurant, and set her sights on a nearby steakhouse.
Walking in, most of the men in the restaurant focused in on her immediately. Las Vegas had its share of gorgeous leggy blondes, but Shijzan was a goddess, after all.
A hostess hustled up to Shijzan right away. "I'm so sorry, but you can see all of our tables are booked up. We might have an hour wait."
"Oh no," Shijzan moaned. "I'm so hungry, though." She leaned over past the hostess, seeing a spare seat available. "What if I sat with that woman over there?"
The hostess looked back, then smiled. "Couldn't hurt to ask!" She went over to the woman's table. The seated woman looked over at Shijzan, then looked horrified.
Shijzan walked over and extended her hand. "So sorry to intrude! I'm terribly hungry, and was hoping I could share some company."
The woman pushed her lips together. "I guess it's okay." The hostess helped Shijzan sit down, and got her a menu.
Shijzan was all smiles as she looked the woman over. "Thank you so much! I love to meet new people. My name's Shijzan!"
The woman looked uncomfortable. "I just...I don't know..."
"Are you okay?" Shijzan reached over and put her hand on the woman's. "If I am causing you distress--"
"Oh, God, I'm sorry!" The woman covered her eyes for a few seconds. "Look, my name's Gillian. I'm just not comfortable with people. It's kind of a big problem for me."
"Oh, I wouldn't want to trouble you," Shijzan replied. "I just have one night here, and I wanted to get to know some people."
Gillian pushed air out of her nose. "I'm sorry. I just saw you walk in, and I was like, don't ask her to come sit with me."
Shijzan was surprised. "Why?"
"Look at you! You're like some perfect Barbie doll!" Gillian let out a frustrated sigh. "Then look at me. I'm...I'm nobody."
