Paranormal Abby: Spanked by the Metroline Slimes!
Backstory: Set in the year 2120. Abby is a holovid producer that focuses on the paranormal. Abby is helped by her dominant android lover Maggie who uses a strange algorithm to find areas where dimensional distortions happen, giving Abby invaluable data on the where and when paranormal events will happen. Then it's a "monster of the week" episodic style I hope to continue. Please let me know what you think.
This is a one-off of a series I'm working on. I thought you might enjoy it.
Abby crept down the stairs of the Metroline subway. While the system has been abandoned for over 40 years, no one really knows why it is so clean. Many people who "investigate" the ruins of the past say they have spotted blue blurs out of the corner of an eye or see the motion lighting turn on randomly as they casually search the system.
Maggie gave her the rundown before she made the two-hour trip. There is a faint pink haze over the simulation spanning the whole transportation system. Usually the dimensional distortion simulation paints an area pink where the dimensional energy is spotted. Instead, both watched as the faint pink flow seemed like water flowing through the system. Maggie agreed that it should be safe since no one really had an encounter with a creature or entity, and whatever it was, it seems to run away.
Abby turns a corner and stops in her tracks. She sees a small rabbit-sized bright blue slime with three eyes! Abby pulls out her holopad, slowly, lining up the shot.
"All I need is a picture. Just hold still you little cutie!" Abby whispered as she quietly fought with the camera sensor as it distorted due to the sudden spike of the dimensional energy.
Abby finally got the image in sharp focus, her thumb hovering over the capture button. Just as she pressed it, her heel caught on a loose tile, sending her stumbling backward. She flailed her arms, the camera app beeping in protest as she lost her grip on the holopad. The slime, startled by the sudden movement, propelled itself deeper into the subway station with a soft splat.
"Dammit!" Abby hissed under her breath, catching herself before she hit the ground. She scrambled to her feet and snatched up her holopad, checking the image. It was perfect, the slime's three eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light. But her triumph was short-lived; the creature was already disappearing into the darkness.
The automated motion lighting kicked on, casting a harsh white glow down the tunnel as the slime darted further away. Each light flickered to life in succession, creating a trail of illumination that beckoned Abby forward. She hesitated for a moment, a nagging feeling urging her to let it go. No one had been this close to the creatures before, and the unknown always held risks. But Abby was never one to back down from a mystery.
"Come on, Abby, you can't stop now," she muttered to herself, determination setting her jaw. She pocketed the holopad and sprinted after the slime, her footsteps echoing in the empty subway.
The trail of lights flickered on ahead of her, guiding her deeper into the station. The air grew cooler, and the faint sound of dripping water mingled with her panting breaths. The slime was fast, but Abby was relentless, her eyes fixed on the next light that would reveal her quarry.
She rounded a bend, her heart racing. The slime was just ahead, its blue form shimmering in the light. Abby pushed herself harder, her muscles burning with the effort. The slime seemed to sense her pursuit, darting around corners and down side tunnels, always just out of reach.
The trail of motion lights continued to flicker on, leading Abby deeper into the subway's labyrinth. She knew she should be cautious, but the thrill of the chase drowned out any lingering doubts. The slime was her ticket to uncovering the secrets of the Metroline, and she wouldn't let it slip away.
As she followed the lights, Abby's mind raced with possibilities. What was this creature? Why did it seem to be leading her deeper into the station? The questions fueled her determination, pushing her to keep going, no matter how far the slime led her.
The lights flickered on ahead, each one a beacon pulling her further into the unknown. Abby's breath came in short, sharp gasps, her muscles screaming for a break, but she couldn't stop now. The slime was just ahead, and she was closing in.
Abby's breath caught in her throat as she skidded into the main lobby of the subway. The slime was there, cornered against a wall, its three eyes wide with fear. She slowed her pace, approaching with cautious steps, her hands raised in a nonthreatening gesture.
"Hey, little guy, it's okay," Abby whispered, her voice soft and soothing. "I'm not going to hurt you."
The slime quivered, its body pulsating with a soft glow. Just as Abby was about to reach out, the creature let out a high-pitched scream that echoed through the empty lobby. The sound was so piercing that Abby stumbled backward, landing hard on her butt.
The ground beneath her began to rumble, the vibrations growing stronger with each passing second. It felt like a flood rushing in from all directions. Abby's eyes darted around, searching for the source of the sound. Her heart pounded in her chest as she realized what was happening.
From every vent, pipe, hallway, and subway tunnel, thousands of blue slimes of all sizes poured into the lobby. They flowed like a living river, their forms shimmering in the dim light. Abby scrambled to her feet, but there was nowhere to run. The slimes surrounded her, forming a wall that stretched as far as she could see.
They kept their distance, maintaining a circle roughly thirty feet in diameter around her. Abby stood in the center, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and awe. The slimes swirled around her, their movements almost hypnotic. She could feel the tension in the air, the collective gaze of the creatures fixed on her.
Taking a deep breath, Abby decided to try and deescalate the situation. She slowly lowered herself to sit cross-legged on the cold floor, her hands resting on her knees. She kept her posture relaxed, her expression calm.
