Our Vows Fulfilled
This is my contribution to the 750 Word Project 2025. It's either a Sci-Fi & Fantasy story with a Loving Wives theme or a Loving Wives story set in a fantasy world. Be warned: it is much darker than my usual work.

This story was written for the 2025 Literotica 750 Word Challenge, below this line are exactly 750 words:
The tent flap fluttered in the dying breeze. The corpse of a Golden Sentinel guarded its entrance, even in death, marking the passage between daylight and darkness, hope and death.
She stood naked and alone in the pavilion, her golden hair flowing around her in waves, like a halo or benediction. The bodies of our children lay scattered around her, twisted in death. It was a mercy—she spared them from me. She looked calm, almost welcoming, as she watched me enter. But at her sight, the memories consumed me.

When I came of age, my brother, the Emperor, named me Fist of his armies, and I led them to victory. Cities and nations surrendered before our imperial might—except one. Alone among nations, it stood firm, rejecting our demands and rallying others to its cause.
After a year-long siege, we breached its walls, and our victory was complete, as was their destruction. The city was razed, and the ground salted where it had once stood so that nothing would ever grow there again. Its people were killed or enslaved and sent to the emperor as tribute.
But, amongst the tribute, one woman stood tall, her head unbowed and her back unbent. Her beauty was unmatched; her eyes held mine, and I couldn't look away. I took her as my slave, then concubine and consort, and, finally, my wife. She was the one treasure I kept for myself from all my campaigns. She became my most trusted advisor and my deepest betrayer.
In my tenth year as Fist, I was sent to quell an incursion by the Iron Horde in the far west. She was with child when I left, so she stayed at court while I was on campaign. Months later, when the rumors of her infidelity and my brother's betrayal finally reached me, I descended into madness. I thought she loved only me, but her beauty was unmatched, and none can deny the emperor.
With my armies at my back, I vowed to destroy everything my brother loved or held dear. I swept through the empire, leaving desolation and destruction in my wake, driven by grief and my need for vengeance. Now, having won the final terrible battle, his body lay broken on the field outside, my vow almost fulfilled.
She was all that was left.
