"Good morning, Sir!"
Professor Lohar looked up from his desk as Bram held the door, guiding Megan into his office, while pushing aside the magnifying glass he had on an extension hanging over his desk.
"Mary! Hello!"
"Megan, sir" Bram said with a tight smile, "The professor is not always the best with names, Megan," he said slightly emphasizing the name.
"Oh, yes, yes quite," Professor Lohar said as he sat up, stretching his back with a grimace. "Thank you, Bram, I will speak with Ms. Megan here about her responsibilities around the academy."
"Yes, sir, of course." Bram looked over at Megan in her new work outfit, nodding slightly before shutting the door.
Megan nodded back at Bram, a subtle smirk letting him know she saw his wandering gaze, before turning back to Professor Lohar.
"Megan, please come sit."
Lohar stood, pushing in on his back as he stood. Behind his desk there were several arm chairs arranged around a low table. Lohar waved absently to one of the chairs as he lowered himself in another with a satisfied sigh.
"I really need to speak with the artificers to create a better chair," he muttered while wiggling back to settle before looking at Megan with a slight smile.
Megan sat across from him, self conscious of the low front of her skirt as she crossed her legs. Bram had taken her office coat before she entered the Professors lab, leaving her feeling slightly self conscious in the bra top and skirt.
She sat on the edge of the cushioned chair, back straight with her fingers wrapped around her knee, head tilted slightly since she had learned a while ago that people found that an attractive look for her.
"I understand you are somewhat familiar with the work we do here, young lady," Lohar said with a slight frown.
"Yes, sir," Megan said, time to wing it! "Your work focuses on certain animals and creatures, some rather exotic I am told. Professor Anahan spoke quite highly of you, sir. I believe he sent me a reference for this position?"
"Yes, Professor Anahan," she noticed a slight twinkle in Lohar's eyes when he spoke. "Gave quite a glowing reference, I must say. All but stated I absolutely needed to take you on as an assistant. How is his wife these days?"
"I wouldn't know sir, Professor Anahan kept his work and personal life quite separate. Which is quite appropriate."
Professor Lohar coughed slightly in his hand, "Yes, of course. Good, good. So, yes, our work here. As an academic zoologist I, we, study all fashion of fauna at this academy. You have experience in this work, so I am told, so you should find yourself fitting in quite well."
"Yes sir, I get along quite well and have experience in many different creatures, recently under Professor Anahan."
"Yes, he spoke of that," Professor Lohar said distractedly as if finally really noticing the woman in front of him, "under him," Lohar chuckled. Megan felt her cheeks warming but kept her polite smile in place. "I will need your assistance in conducting experiments with our guests here as well as supporting their general needs. You do not have issues with helping out with feeding and general care in the beasts environments, do you?"
"None at all sir," Megan said, swaying her shoulder slightly, "I really enjoyed working with the various fauna for Professor Anahan and look forward to continuing my practice in that field."
"Good." Lohar looked steadily at Megan for a moment, while she returned his gaze. This is it, she thought keeping her expression friendly but revealing nothing of her nervousness.
Professor Lohar shifted his gaze over her shoulder and snapped his finger. Megan heard the familiar sound of the Walara and took a deep breath as their chittering filled the lab.
"You have met the Walara," Lohar said with a slight smile, "They are somewhat a free-roam entity and again I must apologize for their behaviour but they seem quite fond of you."
