Four Days Later
4:40PM
My heat had ended finally, the pain in my neck from Erica's marking ached painfully, it would likely continue for the next few days... or until I was remarked by Erica, I had survived the sleepover at Yelena's House and retreated home.
I got home to Rachel, Tyler had already left for his shift with the ambulance.
I quickly prepared a quick meal for our tea, then afterwards we both ended up relaxing out on the couch in the lounge room, watching a movie.
"Still missing Erica?" Rachel asked me randomly.
"Yes and No..." I said halfheartedly.
"Why's that?" I asked her.
"I'm beginning to miss her a bit myself to be honest with you." Rachel said to me.
"Well, feel free to go back there." I said to her, I awkwardly laughed
"You still wear the engagement ring, you must miss her." Rachel said to me as she tilted her head down as she looked at me.
"Yeah I do, It's not like we're fully broken up." I said to her, "Just the wedding is on hold for now, until Erica can work out her issues."
"Personally, I think you've left it too long now." She replied back.
"Left it too long?"
"Yeah! You should have gone back to her by now, it's almost been two weeks!"
"Erica will be fine, she's strong..."
I rested back against the couch.
"Maybe strong psychically, I'm not sure about mentally though..." Rachel sighed.
I sighed as I put my hands over my face, rubbing my eyes.
"She'll be alright."
7:00PM
Erica
The sound of the Mercedes tearing its tread apart as I feathered the accelerator, spinning the car around in circles on the concrete surface.
The headlights of my car were lighting the cloud of smoke as I continued to do burnouts.
I suddenly stopped, I waited for the smoke to settle before I moved out of the way.
There were several other people here with me with their own cars, each of them talking and waiting their turn to have a spin.
I parked next to another car, getting out. I walked to the back of my car and shone the flashlight on my phone at the rear tyres. From what I could see they had a bit more tread to go, I'd save that last bit...
I hadn't hung out at this place in a long time, even though I frequently came here if I ever felt down, but I hadn't stayed to meet anyone.
Tonight I stayed, I stuck to myself as the group who was here with me looked over their own cars.
Most of these people we're teenagers, only another person here I actually knew from my teen years.
"How's life treating you, Erica." Rhys asked me as he approached my car.
Rhys was dressed in a Black hooded Jacket, and Grey Skinny Jeans, he hadn't changed how he dressed since I had seen him last, nor his hairstyle, the bleached blonde short slightly spikey hair, which was easily 9 years ago now.
"Alright... Could be better I suppose." I sighed as I waved slightly at him, sitting down on the hood of my car
"Haven't seen you here in a long time." Rhys said with a smile as he sat on the hood of my car with me.
"Haven't been here in a long time." I told him.
"I'm the last one of our group that comes here." Rhys said as he pulled a pack of cigarettes out.
He offered me one.
I looked at him. "Serious?" I asked.
"You look like you need one." He said to me.
"Honestly I need something stronger than a cigarette to get me through this hell." I joked with him.
I took his offer, I took the cigarette from his hand.
"Light?" I asked as I put the cigarette in my mouth.
"Here." Rhys said to me as he leant towards me and with the cigarette in his mouth he touched the tip of mine with his, lighting it.
"Creative." I said as I took the cigarette out of my mouth,
ashing it onto the ground.
"Always wanted to do that." He laughed as he took a puff of his cigarette.
I coughed.
"When was the last time you smoked?" He asked me.
"9 years ago." I told him.
Rhys was very heavily influenced by anything that he deemed cool, he was the type of dude to have a knife collection somewhere hidden, or owned several different handgun's with their own names etched into them.
Edgy is probably the best way to describe him, I didn't fault him though, his upbringing with his parents when he was younger was terrible.
Ended up living with his grandparents at the age of 12 and never returned to his parents house until he was 17.
Even then he was barely home, living out of his suzuki van on the streets of the city for weeks at a time.
He had a stable job though, he was a very smart person.
Last I heard he was renting a house, working as an Apprentice Car Mechanic.
"Are you still working as a Car Mechanic?" I asked him.
"Oh everyday, I actually own my own house now." Rhys said happily.
"Oh? That's good to hear!" I said to him happily.
"How's it feel to live in your own house?" I asked him.
"Lonely most nights, I've been seeing a girl recently though, so it's better." Rhys told me.
"Oh? You've got a girlfriend now?" I asked him.
"Yeah! Only for the past 5 months though, you wouldn't know her." Rhys said to me.
Not that I thought I'd know who his girlfriend was, I looked down at my shoes, ashing the cigarette again.
Our conversation stopped after that, both of us waved goodbye to each other and went our separate ways.
I hung out with the group here for a few more hours, soon enough I checked my phone to see it was almost 11pm.
I sighed, I was getting tired, the freezing cold night air was beginning to finally come in, a layer of fog descended over the city.
Only a few random lights lit the area we were in, they all were due to be replaced as they flickered all the time.
There was a forest on the other side of the concrete area, a rusting chain link fence surrounded this place.
If the cars here stopped revving for long enough, you could hear the wildlife nearby making various noises in the night, it was oddly spooky.
Sometimes when one of the cars drove, their headlights would light up the chain link fence, and you'd see a set of eyes reflecting back towards you.
It was enough to make me want to go home for the night, which is what I did.
I said my goodbyes to the teenagers here and told them to stay safe as I left.
Just to show off I skidded my way out of the parking area.
I didn't care about what they thought, Rhys who had left an hour earlier probably wouldn't approve of what I did.
