Dan and Kelly Murphy were at it again. It being sex this time. The last it was a project involving some piece of alien technology that had been unearthed some far off redacted location.
Unbeknownst to them, these two things were related. The alien tech was actually a magical artifact and the sex was because of said artifact. The dimensional portal ran on mana. Mana being a product of its home dimension, it was inert. Or at least that's what everyone thought.
You see, sex was a great generator of mana back on Arodel. Arodel of course was the original home of the portal. Here on Earth sex still created mana, but of such low quantity and quality that its effect was negligible. It simply whisked away off into nothing before creating any tangible effect.
But the portal drew on the mana generated by the sex had right next to it. It had started as a quickie here and there to jump start the research process, or take a quick break to relieve some stress. Dan and Kelly were deeply in love and in lust with one another. They had been for twenty five years. They knew each other inside and out. Every once in a while when one of them was stuck on a problem they'd have a tumble and come back to work with fresh eyes.
Now it seemed like all they did was fuck. Just stepping into their lab got them randy. Within twenty minutes Dan would be balls deep in Kelly pumping away. And no quick diversions either. They'd spend hours rutting away across tables and in chairs and on the floor. It never occurred to them that it was strange.
But nearby, the portal drew and drew on the slivers of mana, generating a lust field that had the two humans humping away like bunnies to power the portal. Each day it stored a little more away, each day a little closer to opening up between this world and its own. It was not a thinking machine, it simply did as it was created to do. The reason for opening the portal was unknown, and possibly it was never meant to be here on Earth. But open it did after weeks of pulling bits and pieces of mana from the horny couple.
Then one day, it gathered enough mana and opened fully. Without a sound, without fanfare, and without Dan and Kelly noticing as they left the lab for the day, eager for a shower after their afternoon romp. A blue-green swirling gateway appeared, quiet and innocuous, waiting for someone or something to come through.
And two someones did go through. Jack and Claire Murphy found this incredibly unusual magic while looking for their parents. The swirling colors bewitched them. They crept ever closer, Jack put out his hand to touch it.
"Ohh, it feels cool. Chilly almost."
Claire reached out as well, "that's nice."
"Should we go in? I want to...it looks awesome," he murmured.
"It does, but it might be dangerous," Claire mumbled but was just as intrigued. Some warnings were sounding in her head but they were far away and quiet.
Claire was a self-described nerd. She enjoyed fantasy novels, video games, and table top rpgs. Typical nerd fare. She knew random portals to unknown locations were trouble. But that couldn't stop her curiosity. At the very least she couldn't let Jack go alone.
Jack on the other hand was a jock. A wrestler all through middle and high school. He was less cautious and more adventurous in the real world. And this definitely looked like some kind of adventure.
Claire barely broke through his fog. "We should talk to mom and dad first."
"Yeah for sure," Jack replied but was already inching toward the gateway.
"Jack," Claire warned.
"I'm just getting a closer look."
Jack's head was inches from the flowing lights. He couldn't get any closer unless he was actually in it. Claire was just a step behind him, hoping one of them would have the strength to pull back.
Then Jack leaned forward.
"Jack wait!" blurted Claire, grabbing his arm.
It was too late. Jack was halfway through and tugging her along with him.
And the portal swirled and winked out.

A feeling of being flipped, twisted, shaken, and stirred went through Jack and Claire's bodies. Then they were standing upright in a meadow.
The feeling faded quickly, but was replaced by a series of soft pings as notifications filled their vision like phone messages.
You have been assigned martial artist class.
You have been assigned grappler sub class.
You are currently level 1.
And on and on in Jack's vision. Immediately frustrated, he swiped his hand in front of his face to get rid of them. That seemed to do the trick, and the messages flew off to the edge of his vision, but continued to blink as they arrived.
Then Jack appraised the situation. And there was a situation at hand. Most obviously, there was a pack of small green creatures staring at him. Their mouths gaped open and they stood stock still. Secondly, they were mostly naked, most wearing no more than a loincloth.
The little people were varying shades of bright green to olive. They were maybe three and a half to four feet tall, slim to chubby, with not much consistency. The only shared feature was their black hair.
