Love After Death in a New World

This is part one of a story that I am working on. To be honest I am not sure how many parts it will be at this point. I am let the story kind of write itself.

All I knew as I woke up was feeling drowsy and lost as well having no idea where I was at. Looking around it made me feel like I was in a high-end office with a long desk with a pair of chairs and a couch in front of it, which was where I woke up. Made me think of how I even got into this room.

With that, the one that I now was called Shin just looked at the pink one and stated, "I told you Tera we are working on that. I cannot help that it has looked like that for centuries. Dan has a plan to change it, but not like he just changes things overnight."

Tera just picks up with, "Well that's true and Dan has only been the picture since 1997 so I give you that and has had a lot to do with changes at your home, office space, as well as help with your worshipers, even if most are shocked when a human in a flannel shirt and jeans show up to help them. With that let's deal with what we come to do and help our guest."

With that, they looked toward me, who at this was lost and confused about who these two ladies were. I was starting to wonder who they were but what stood out from their talk was the fact they said the word worshipers.

That was when Tera looked at me and asked the question, "What do you remember before being here? Do you remember your name or anything else?"

Think about it I knew my name was Sato Yohane, 32, from Yokohama, Japan. I remember my mother was from Yokohama like I was, but my father was from Lincoln, Nebraska in the US. My father had been stationed here when in the army and met my mother one night while out in Tokyo and ended up coming back after leaving the army and marrying my mother.

Tera popped up and said, "See I told you that he would remember more than you thought Shin. Oh, by the way, you can't talk right now per se, but we can read your thoughts."

The only thing that Shin said was, "Well good it should make the first part of this hopefully easy explaining thing."

Look at them as lost since I had no idea how I got here or what they were talking about.

Tera looked at me with a sad look, "It going to be hard for you to understand, but you're dead technically speaking."

Shin joined in, "I found your soul not far from your body even if I was not there to reap your soul."

Did I hear them exactly right did I hear that I had died, that Shin had found my soul? Looking at them both the only thing I thought was, that cannot be right, then how am I here talking to you? On top of that, how could get and read a soul as well?

Tera said, "Ok, I guess I should as well fully introduce ourselves. I am sure you hear us call each other by our nicknames. But my name is not Tera, but it is Amaterasu and Shin, my sister, real name is Shinigami, even if most people think that name is for multiple people and not just her."

Did I just hear her right did she say Amaterasu, the Shinto goddess of the Sun as well as just say her sister was the Shinigami the god, or in her case the goddess of Death as well as the protection of souls? I had always heard that Shinigami were like evil monsters of darkness.

Shin enraged yelled, "I'm not a monster and I only like the darkness because I have a sister who is the literal Sun Goddess all glowing and wearing bright colors, and you see if do not like the dark color as well. I mean between her and our little brother who is always wet and windy blowing his nose growing up, and I may add clumsy. I didn't know who was worse to grow up with at times. At least they both mostly turn out mostly all right in the end."

Now my mind was racing, the only sibling I remember in Japanese religion for Amaterasu was Susanoo.

Tera just said, "Yeah that's our little brother alright, and Shin was right he was a mess of a kid. At least he grew up and put himself to beneficial use. Who would thought he be a pilot in the Navy? Even if it did take him moving overseas to get him to grow up, well that and Uriel."

All I could think was if these were Japanese gods who Uriel as well Dan had said early.

Shin said, "That's easy Uriel is Susanoo's wife but just FYI he likes going by Sam and well she is one of the Archangel of Christian religion. To think that a boy from Japan, and a girl from Jordan, would meet in college in the US and fell in love. I still don't believe her father is over being mad at her, even if both her big brothers were happy for her. I mean I think that first time in a while Michael and Lucifer have agreed on anything, but they both love their little sister and want her to be happy.

Tera stated, "As far Dan well he is the odd one out. Just a poor kid my sister fell in love with on her night off out on the town while visiting our brother, who would know they get married and start a family."

What a normal guy married the goddess of death?

Shin said," What that he is a great guy and fact he a big movie buff like me. It help the fact that he believed in a god in which are friends to Mom and Dad. I mean old man Oden was nice enough that when he died, he let us be together since what happened to him. To think that son of his threw a thunderbolt in the wrong place and killed my Dan."

Shin took a breath and continue. "At least Thor showed up to apologize to him at our wedding. He was supposed to live to be 78 not just 24 per his countdown clock. Before you ask every human has one, a countdown clock of when they are to die."

She explained that all reapers of any religion can see someone death clock no matter what religion you are. This is why I was there, being just 32 and should have lived to the right age of 101.

Tera mention, "Your dying also messes up a lot. You should have lived your life got married in the next two years had two kids with one of your grandkids could have brought about world peace."

Married, kids, grandkids as well as living to 101 what was all this about? As well as other gods of different religions.

When Tera said, "Look like Shin said that's why you're here. We can see the potential future for you humans based on life choices which is how we know you were heading to get married based on your past actions, that girl did like you. On your next date, she was going to ask you to start being a couple."

They both said together, we are not sure who, but someone killed you off way too early.

Tera said, "Luckily, Shin got your soul before it got out in the wild, that would been bad. At the same time whoever did put a curse on your soul. "

Shin pipe in with, "Normally we try to put it right back in your body since you had just passing away. Some reason I was not able to do that. So there is no going back to Earth for you, so now we have the issue of who killed you why, and how they put that curse on you."

Tera then came in with, "The next issue is you can't go back to Earth, it also means we can't send you to heaven either. The two are linked and by blocking you from one they blocked you from the other."

All I could think is I am going to hell then?

Shin said, "No you're not going to hell which is why you're here, when you die as a human you end up in front of the God(s) or goddess(s) of your religions, as for those who are not religious, one of two thing happens. If anyone is willing to take you based on your behavior they can, but if not, it goes based on where you died. Everywhere has a default religion that guards over a part of the earth just in case of that issue."

With that they explained that I should been sent to them right away.

Shin said, "I noticed your soul was just free-standing right beside your body which is not only odd but dangerous like Tera said. Souls that just roam free end up turning into demons and I am not talking about ones in hell."

Both of them said for the most part, demons are living beings just like humans are and have a normal life with a family house jobs for the past few hundred years or so. A wild soul who turns into a demon natural wild beast form that is only out to kill anyone or anything, be a human demon angel reaper any living life from.

They said that even Valkyries have a challenging time bringing them down. Those ladies and a few lucky guys can kill just about anything.

Shin stated, "Before you ask Oden and Frigg changed who could or couldn't be a warrior for Valhalla and a Valkyrie, but they voted to keep the name Valkyries no matter what sex you are."

All this had me thinking then how I died and what as well was next for me.

Tera said, "We are here to give you a choice you can have your soul destroyed, which by way neither one of us wants to do but that is your choice. Option two is we send you to our world, the land of angels, monsters, demons, elves, and all other types of creatures including some humans. We can set you up with a good life and job until we can find out who and how this happened and how to fix it."

Luckily, Shin said, "I put a time stop on your death, well at least to your body. Your body is technically in a coma right now. The bad part is we had to put one of our best people in your body for now to keep anyone from jumping in it. They know to stay asleep till we say the word one way or another and to only act if your body is in danger."

The choice was mine it has sound like new life had some benefits, like staying a live for now, for you even if I might have to do a little demanding work as well.

That got me thinking about what type of demanding work she could be talking about.

Tera said, "Well we are looking for a new farmer for World Farms in that world. It feeds every kingdom there so their protection from anything harmful. It also comes with a nice set of skills as well as a fat stack of cash that you would need to gather slaves, as well buying any tools or animal need and building material."

They then explain it was not normal type of slavery we have here but a normal contract job. All of slaves their are put under a contract agreement for a set amount of time and are still paid while working house as well housed and feeding them, it is just too hard to change the terminology since every kingdom and religion would have to sign off on it.

Tera said, "I would only get females to work on your farm."

No more than she said that than Shin said, "Ok that enough spoiling the details you must pick which one you will do. Also, this would be a suitable time to change anything about you that you might want if you go with option two. With that I must go, I will leave you to Tera. I must check in with my reapers teams before I go home and check on dinner. Dan got pick kids up as well drop off couple boxes to Oni orphanage on his way home."

All I could think was Goddess of Death has a normal family life and donates to the helpless as well.

Tera said, "Yea for being a figure most people fear she is one of the most liked people here in the afterlife now. I don't know how Dan did it but props to him for doing so, I was so worried about her for a long time."

All I could think was that starting a new life in a new world with who knows what type of life forms was much better than being wiped out of existence.

Tera said, "Ok then first thing is to make you a new body as might not have noticed yet you don't have one right now. I need you to relax and think about what you want to look like. The only rule is you have to stay human and male since that will make it easier when we hopefully put you back in your body."

It took me a minute to think about what I wanted to look like, not that I looked bad before. I mean being a mixed kid I had features of both my mother and father. I had blue eyes and black hair, but a little tent of red wouldn't hurt but not too much.

As far as size I always had an athletic build so that wouldn't be an issue but being just a little taller wouldn't hurt. I thought going from about 177cm I could see myself being about 187cm.

The last thing I thought was maybe a little selfish, for being half Japanese I always knew I had a bigger dick than all other guys in my class due to us showering after gym class, but a little more girth wouldn't hurt either.

After that, I thought I was ready for my new body.

Tera going, "Perfect and not bad with that last change."

She said there were only two things left before she took me to where I would start my new life. First, I will give you a list of skills to pick, you can have up to 15 but I have picked a few out for you that will help you out so you're down to about 5 to pick.

With that, a giant list showed up in front of me out of nowhere like a pop-up window on a computer screen with a smaller one off to side with the ones she had picked already.

From the list she picked growth, water magic, earth magic, light magic, small and large weapon mastery, spoken and written language, master craft, and last one was called Valentino which I was not sure what that was about.

I had to think about why I would need these skills.

Tera explains that the first four would help with growing plants as well some other thing if I experiment some of my spells.

Tools like small knives shovels axes and such fell under "weapon" both small and large even if they were used in farming so having a mastery of small and large weapons would help.

Spoken and written language would help me talk with and be able to read any language no matter what it was.

Master craft would help me with building things I might need like a barn or fencing as well repair any of my tools.

Now as far as the Valentino skill, she said that was a surprise for me to find out later on.

Looking at what was left I thought fire magic might be helpful. Poison resistance seems like a good one working and eating unknown plants. I picked heal as well just in case I got hurt or one of the animals on the farm did.

I was not sure about the last two so Tera suggested night vision as well as mastery of cooking. Tera said it could be dark in some areas where I was going even with a torch as well since I would be new to how to cook some of the stuff right away so would be better on my taste buds if picked it. That finished my skill set so I guess there was only one thing left.

Tera asked me to raise my arms and legs, bend over, stretch out, and finally sit down on the couch.

Back where I just come from unknown to me Tera was still standing there with tears starting to form in her eyes as Shin came back into the room.
