Why me? What did I do to get stuck here? Remy sat with his back against a stone wall. He looked out in front of his and saw nothing but stone walls and dirt floors. After several minutes of internal deliberation, he chose to gather himself up and get his bearings.
Remy was average looking. He was on the smaller size at five-foot six. He kept his black hair in a long ponytail when he wasn't at a metal concert. He painted his nails black and wore a thin line of eyeliner. A heavy-metal t-shirt adorned his torso with a band name that was incomprehensible unless you recognized them, tight-fitting ripped jeans around the knees, and loosely tied army boots on his feet. Jewellery glittered all over his body in the torchlights; a necklace with a pentagram, a demon head ring on his right hand, a steel skull on his left, and earrings up both ears.
He followed along the walls, snaking his way through a myriad of twist and turns. What felt like hours proceeded by, he gave up and took a break. In a rare moment he was thankful that his mother forced him to take a bottle of water with him. He had always begrudged living at home at the age of twenty-one, but now he wished he was still there. He decided that if he sat here all day and moped, he'd never make it out of this damned maze.
As Remy stood up, he caught some motion in peripheral vision. He turned to his left to see down the hall a huge creature with the body of a man and a head of a bull. He involuntarily cursed as he took off in the opposite direction in a full sprint. The corridors zigzagged, his vision a blur and not caring where he was at, but to make sure he lost that monster. During his daring escape, he managed to trip and slam his face into what looked a hedge maze.
He stood up holding his nose and made sure it wasn't bleeding. He gathered himself and looked about. He realized that the labyrinth had changed into a hedge maze some time ago. He tried pushing on the hedgerow in the hopes he could bypass most of the labyrinth, but his expectations were dashed when the centre of the bushes held a wall. Well shit. Guess I have to go through this place normally.
A noise Rustled the leafy barrier around the corner from him. He laid himself flat against the wall in the hopes that if it was that beast, it'd walk on by. Sadly what had appeared looked to be something far worst. The creature was made from bones and vines with the skull of a deer for a head. Its eyes glowed red from deep with the sockets. In a moment, it turned to look at Remy, and lashed a vine out to grab hold of his waist. It flung him into the other side hard. He grunted, and his eyes fluttered closed, passing out.
Sounds of battle broke through the barrier of unconsciousness. He briefly opened his eyes and say that the bull monster was fighting the vine creature. It had cut Remy down, but before he could gather his strength to break free, his conscious slipped again.
Remy awoke and sat up rapidly. The jolt sent pain shooting into his brain. He winced and put his hand up to his head where the ache was originating from. His fingers caressed the area and found that there was something wrapped there; the texture felt like a bandage of some sort. Once the pain became a dull ache he decided to take stock of his surroundings.
He found himself in a massive pile of furs, with pillows stuffed with hay. The ground had several pelts on it that were more akin to rugs. The place had a ceiling made from patches of canvas and leathers. The make shift home sat in an alcove of the labyrinth. Knowing that he still wasn't free of this locale forced a sigh from his lips. He saw the bull monster hunched over a fire pit; cooking something that was making his mouth water. He had no idea how long he was out for, but his thirst and hunger became apparent.
The form heard Remy rustle in the bed, making them stand up. He saw that they must have easily been seven and a half feet tall. They turned and looked at him. He could now see that their facial features were a lot softer, with a much shorter snout than he had been envisioning whilst on the run. The monster had smaller horns on their head, and stunning looking eyes. His sight trailed down further to notice that the creature was a she. Her large bosom was eye catching. Her legs were bestial, complete with cloven hooves. She wore a loincloth that draped down, barely containing her wide hips and what appeared to be a half toga on her torso. Her body was covered fully in a light brown and gray striped fur.
Remy scampered backwards till he hit a wall. The bull monster walked forward and squatted down in front of him. He looked frantically for a way to escape, but she was too large to get around.
"Please relax. I mean you no harm. You need to rest more."
She spoke with a soft and gentle voice that threw him off. He expected it to be deep and gravely. Too stunned to speak, he nodded and laid back down. Soon as his head hit the pillow, he fell asleep.
The labyrinth to him felt naturally warm, but when he began stirring from slumber, he felt his body was extremely hot. A fever crossed his mind first, but that idea was snuffed out when his finger ran through something furry. She must have put a blanket made of fur on me. His eyes opened and he found his vision obscured. He pulled away to see that she had brought him close into her bosom. He squeezed his hands deeper within the soft fur. It had a natural spring to it, and elicited a gentle moan from above his head. Remy gasped and released his grip.
He tried to slowly pull himself away from her, as to not arouse her from slumber. He was almost free, but she grabbed onto him and drew him closer. His face now pressed back into her ample chest, he tilted his head upwards to breathe. A long sigh escaped his lips, I know how a teddy bear feels now. In her sleep, leaned down, kissed him on the forehead, and set about petting his head.
Her eyes groggily opened several hours later. With a yawn she raised her hand up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. She looked down and saw Remy returning her stare half lidded.
"Yo."
He said as he gave her a slight salute, or at least tried to. She looked away in embarrassment and if he could see her skin through the fur, he swore she'd have been blushing. She released her grip on him and pushed him back so she could look him over thoroughly. As much as he wanted to protest her probing and pulling his head in different directions, he decided to let her go to town; not like there was something he could do about it.
Once she was content with what she saw, she gave him a smile.
"There we go. You healed up nicely. Now, let us leave the bed and get you fed. Does that sound good?"
He mumbled his approval. She got up and walked over to the fire pit, then squatted down. Remy felt odd; he was glad that she left, but at the same time missed her warmth. He got up slowly and sat on the edge of the low bed.
"I'm sorry I ran away from you. I randomly appeared here, then saw you, and my fear levels overwrote my common sense. My name is Remy, what's yours?"
The fire snapped and crackled. She placed several ingredients in the hanging pot before turning towards him.
"It is nice to meet you Remy, my name is Arevin. I do not blame you for running away. I do not exactly exude soft and cuddly from afar. I may also be quite intimidating close up to you as well; especially to such a tiny being as yourself."
He was going to protest about his height, but realized that compared to her, he was definitely small.
"I guess I have you to thank for saving me eh? So... Thanks, Arevin. I appreciate that you came to my rescue, even after I fled in terror from you."
She beamed a smile at him; he returned it.
"I could not let such a cutey like yourself come to any harm over a little misunderstanding."
Remy blushed at the mention of him being cute. In his old world, he never had anyone think he was good-looking, nor had he ever been with a woman; not for the lack of trying. She stood up and walked over to him, then sat next to him. She clasped her hands in front of her and fidgeted.
"I have to ask... Are you a Minotaur?"
She looked at him, shock plastered on her face.
"I am yes. I am surprised to learn that you know of my race. Though I must apologize fore I have not heard nor seen one of your species before."
"There are more of you here?"
She nodded. "Absolutely! We are scattered about within this labyrinth. There is even a city deeper in. I say that, but no one has truly seen the end of this place."
Remy scratched his cheek in contemplation.
"Huh... Guess I'm no longer on earth?"
"If I had to take a guess, I would go with no." She chuckled.
"So what is this place called? Can't just be named 'The labyrinth' right?"
"We call this land Quelotiotia (k-low-she-o-she-ah). It means 'the never ending maze' in my language."
He stood up and positioned himself in front of her.
"That's another thing that is bugging me. How are we able to communicate? I highly doubt English is your native language."
She looked at him with a smile. She patted her lap for him to sit down.
"This place had a magic spell cast on it by a powerful sorcerer who was annoyed at having to learn a fresh language every time he encountered a new race of people. She made it that even if I am speaking my native tongue, you are perceiving it as your own."
He decided to pace around instead of taking her invitation to sit; he still didn't trust her fully.
"I guess that makes sense... Wait, magic?"
