Chapter 20: First full day in Highever
Late the next morning found Elayne alone in their bed, with a white rose laying beside her on his pillow. She felt him inside her head, "good morning my beautiful wife, I hope you slept well."
She turned onto her back and stretched, experiencing a pleasant sense of relaxation as she held the rose in her hand and breathed in its scent, before running it down her body as her thoughts drifted back to the previous evening with him. Lost in the memories, she found her hand touching herself intimately. Though she vaguely heard his voice in her mind, she was too caught up in the moment to pay attention as her fingers teased played between her legs. With one final sensual cry, her body released before she got out of bed and put on her robe, feeling even more at ease.
She walked over to the window looking out it, he was right this was a beautiful view. She reached out to him in her mind, but she ran into a wall, curious she decided if she could find a way in. She studied the wall looking around it, then pushed against it but found it solid, frustrated she decided on another angle but to no avail. Finally, feeling silly, she gave up and knocked. He wasn't responding to her. Her mind tried to remember what his last words were to her. Something about her father. 'Oh, crap,' she thought, he was with father. She hurried and got dressed, and went looking for her mother, who was thankfully alone, when she found her rushed over to her.
"Mom, where's dad and is Hawke with him?"
"Yes hun, they went down together to look over the fillies. Why sweetie, I thought you could reach him through your bond." Eleanor took a closer look to Elayne, and noticed she was looking panicked. "Elayne, what's going on, are they ok?"
Her moms voice finally broke through. "What, oh yeah, yes their ok. But mom I did something not realizing that Hawke was with father. Well um I," frustrated she blurted it out, "mom I was imagining dirty thoughts of Hawke, imagining the way he was with me last night and well I was pleasuring myself. And Hawke put a wall up against me."
Her face went beat red as her mom looked at her, and laughed. Irritated, Elayne immediately got up and stomped away, before she went to far, her mom called her back. Elayne looked back at her, tears streaming down her face, "mom I think I finally made him angry, I wasn't meaning to. I didn't realize where he was."
"I'm sorry daughter, I shouldn't of laughed. Come sit down, this can be fixed."

Hawke observed the young female horses as they leisurely ate from the grass. Leaving Midnight outside the fenced area, he approached the fillies, speaking to them in a gentle tone. Halting in front of them, he knelt down and patiently waited for them to approach him. The group consisted of one brown, one black and one white, all possessing striking beauty.
However, his focus was on the white horse. As she gazed back at him, he noticed the same level of intelligence in her eyes that Midnight possessed. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched the two dark horses approach, and sniff him before he reached out to them while communicating with them. Eventually, they both allowed him to stroke them. He rose to his feet and placed his hand under their chins as they nuzzled him. After finishing the carrots he offered, they wandered off.
He gazed at the white horse and remarked, "You are quite a stunning creature, may I have your permission to stroke you?" She eyed him with interest as he spoke to her. Eventually, after he coaxed and talked with her, she approached and sniffed him. She then stuck her nose into his pocket where he had put the carrots, took the last one out, and galloped away from him, making snorting sounds as if mocking him.
"Ah, you're quite clever, thinking you outsmarted me," he chuckled. "Perhaps you did. May I have the pleasure of petting you, sweetheart?" After playfully teasing, she finally approached him. He gently stroked her chin with his hand. "See that attractive guy over there," he pointed to Midnight, that's my boy. Would you like to meet him? I'm sure he'll adore you, for you are truly gorgeous. He's just like me, he recognizes beauty when he sees it. Come, let's go meet Midnight." He led the way to where Midnight was waiting, expecting the horses to follow him.
The two dark horses approached Midnight, taking turns to sniff him before running off to play. After the white one had her turn, she glanced at Hawke and waited for him to open the gate. Once inside, Midnight and the white horse greeted each other with sniffs and assessed one another. Hawke watched as they communicated through their body language, with their heads held high and ears pointed towards each other, their eyes shining brightly. Eventually, Midnight returned to Hawke while the white horse galloped off, occasionally looking back at them.
"So bud what do you think? How would you like to get to know them better. Maybe make some babies?" Midnight turned his head at that last part and rolled his eyes at Hawke. Hawke laughed "sorry buddy, I didn't mean to offend. Come, let's go back to the Castle and I'll talk to their owner."
Hawke went over to Bryce, and they talked business as they rode back. Hawke agreed with Bryce's deal, if the white one, whose name was Princess, gave birth, that colt would be Hawke's. Bryce would have the horses brought over to Midnight tomorrow.
When they got to the Castle courtyard they both got down and Hawke released Midnight in the corral. He finally released the wall that he had hastily put up, he didn't mean to shut Elayne out, but he was kind of busy with her father when her mind went where it did. Once the wall came down she flooded his mind, crying and apologizing too him, confused he hurried to her in their room. When he came into the room she ran over to him apologizing.
"Elayne, why are you crying and apologizing. You didn't do anything wrong," he said soothingly.
"But you shut me out, I thought you were mad at me, I didn't know you were with my father," she cried into his shirt.
"Elayne, look at me please," he put his finger under her chin to get her to look up at him. "I wasn't mad at you princess, I just wasn't able to have that beautiful image in my head at that time. I was with your father, that wasn't the time to have an image of my beautiful wife's hands between her legs. I tried reaching you but you were too busy. I wasn't mad though, far from it." He lifted her chin up, so he could look in her eyes. He wiped the tears from her, put his mouth to hers and kissed her. Her tears finally stopped, and she melted into him and the kiss. He picked her up and laid her gently on the bed.

Eleanor looked up at the couple as they came down the stairs. Elayne looked bright and cheerful as she walked with Hawke hand in hand. She was glad to see that whatever had gone on with them earlier seemed to have resolved itself.
