--- Forest Dungeon Level 1 - A few hours earlier ---
A slim girl with slightly green skin leaned out from behind a tree and looked at a group of people who were fighting against two goblins and a big old tiger. She had been hunting it, but unfortunately, before she could lead it into her trap, the tiger attacked the group of humans, and she could only watch as they fought with her prey.
Resigned, she wanted to back off and look for another target, but then her gaze stopped on a man who had fallen to the ground. That was him. The man from her dreams. She stood frozen with her bow in her hand, not believing what she was seeing.
For the past week, every night she had the same dream--she had dreamed of a young man, a human man, with whom she had traveled through the forest. They had talked, but no matter how hard she tried she could never remember about what. When they had finally reached a small lake, he had stood in front of her, brushed back her green hair from her face, grabbed her chin, and connected their lips in a long kiss.
He pulled her petite body to himself, pressing her against his muscular frame, and then their kiss became more intimate. Ultimately, they fell to the ground and had passionate sex, but she had always woken up just as she was about to orgasm.
Every night she woke up aroused, with memories of this man. A human man. It was unreal, as she had never had sex before, and she had never seen a human up close. She had only seen them from far away, always careful not to risk fighting against them. They were always in a group, and she couldn't tell how strong they were, so she preferred not to take the risk and instead hunted wild animals.
She had never seen a human from close, yet in her dream, she saw his face in every detail. And at that moment, he was there, getting up from the ground to immediately jump in front of the tiger, which was preparing to leap forward.
Instinctively, she created an arrow--it flashed with her green nature magic--and she was already lifting it to draw her bow but didn't make it in time, as the tiger jumped on him. He managed to block the beast but lost his weapon. Fortunately, two of his friends jumped forward and attacked. He grabbed a new weapon from another girl and rushed to fight a goblin.
She stood there between the trees and watched him fight--he wasn't fast, and it didn't look like he was hitting hard, but he certainly knew how to use his sword. She knew that she shouldn't be there, that she was alone, and these people were six, and additionally, one of the girls, light-haired, was extremely fast and a serious threat.
The girl knew that she should back off, that she should leave, and she would have done so long ago if only she could take her eyes away from that man--the man from her dream.
When the humans won the fight, they collected their loot and talked. He was the closest and had turned his back toward her, but she was too far away to hear anything. In her dreams, she couldn't even remember his voice, and finally she had a chance to hear it.
Against all reason, she started to move closer to him.
She heard his manly voice, deeper than any man in her village. She couldn't understand what he said, and she wanted to get even closer. Suddenly, she snagged a branch of the bushes she was hiding in.
He turned quickly, but she crouched in time, hiding in the bushes. Her clothes matched her green skin and hair, allowing her to blend into the surroundings.
His face turned toward her, she had much better look at it, but she already knew it well from those moments at the lake. It was exactly the same as in her dreams, and she wondered how it was possible as she was certain that she had never seen him before.
The bright-haired girl stopped next to him, and they talked briefly, but the hiding girl couldn't understand a single word. She remained without moving, hoping that they would not notice her. The human woman stood there with her daggers--she was too fast, and running away would be impossible. The forest girl knew that she wouldn't escape if they noticed her.
When the pair of humans turned away, she breathed a sigh of relief. She still remained in place, observing them, this time not risking getting any closer. After the people that she watched finished their conversation, they started travelling through the forest.
Her instinct told her that she should get back to her home, but she didn't know if she would ever meet him again.
Memories--very vivid--of what he had done to her in her dream made her feel a need inside herself, one that she knew only he could satisfy. In the end she followed after him with her eyes focused all the time on him.
The man that she watched, turned around a few times, looking toward her, as if he could feel that she was there. However, his eyes never focused on her when she was hiding in the bushes or behind the trees. Even though she knew it was a horrible idea, she regretted that he had never noticed her.
The group of people reached one of the entrances to another world. The girl immediately noticed treants that stood by the portal. She watched the group carefully, worried that they might fall into a trap.
She considered shooting an arrow at the monsters by the portal to warn them, but before she could make a choice, the man from her dream pointed at the trees.
When his friends shot their missiles, she realized that he had also noticed the treants and smiled, impressed by his knowledge and perceptiveness. The group of people had a fire mage with them, and a shiver went through the girl's body as she saw the flames engulf the monsters. They killed them without trouble and collected their loot.
After a short talk, which she couldn't hear because she was too far away, they started to wander, staying close to the entrance, and she realized that they were looking for more monsters.
When one of the other men, with a sword, passed a third time by the group of camouflaged lizards, she decided to help them. The next time someone got close, she shot her magic arrow near the monsters, scaring them away and making them run. The humans noticed them without a problem as they started to move, and the monsters rushed at them.
It seemed that they would defeat them without trouble, as the light-haired girl killed the first lizard with one hit, but then the shorter girl with a shield got bitten. The forest girl frowned, knowing that those beasts were venomous.
The fight ended moments later, but the wounded girl looked like she was about to pass out. The man of her dreams held her, then passed her to the other two. A moment later, they were running toward the entrance and vanished into it.
The girl stood there, staring at the black stone that led to an unknown, alien world, and she realized that the man of her dreams had just vanished--and she would never meet him again.
Unless he visited her again in the forest bed of her dreams. A strange feeling of loss filled her, but she decided to return to her village, knowing that being so close to the portal was too dangerous, especially when she was distracted.
--- Asher Montgomery ---
Ava ran out of the room. Asher wondered why she was acting so weird, but he also needed to talk with Elara.
"El, that comment about Sebastian and Tiff--"
"I'm sorry, Asher, okay? I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said it."
"Elara I'm not doing anything behind your back and we agreed on this whole harem thing."
"I know..."
"Do you regret it now?" Asher asked.
Elara stared at him in silence, trying to process her emotions and what she felt.
"I don't think so... I don't know, Asher," she said, frowning. "Right now? No. But I'm scared that I might regret it tomorrow, or in a week, or a year. Who knows? This isn't a normal relationship, and... and I have no idea what I have gotten myself into. I don't know what I was thinking..."
Asher himself felt lost, trying to put it all together--new people, a new place, exploring, and changes in their relationship.
"We are in it together, El. Whatever happens, we are together. And we will handle it, okay? Nothing will change that. No woman will come between me and you. I promise that everything will be good and that you will never regret it."
Elara slightly nodded and kissed him, but their kiss was short, as Asher's phone pinged with a new message.
He pulled it out and looked at it for the first time since he had gotten back from the dungeon. He unlocked his screen, and when he saw what was still open, he immediately pressed it to his body.
"What was that?" Elara asked, looking at him. With her head on his arm, she had seen his screen too.
Asher felt his cheeks blush. "Umm... Rachel sent me some... encouragement to make sure I would return from the dungeon," he said, then pulled his phone from his body to show Elara the photo Rachel had sent him.
"Do you like it?" Elara asked.
"She's attractive, and the photo really emphasizes it," he said, trying to be honest.
"I wasn't asking about her," Elara said. "I meant the photo. I've never sent you anything like that before," she added, watching him. "Do you want me to?"
"I'd love that. But only if you want to," Asher answered, grinning.
Elara nodded and looked back at his phone. He closed Rachel's photo and saw that he had three new messages, all from Madelyn. In the first one, she had asked almost an hour ago if he had left the dungeon already. The next one was ten minutes later, asking him to write to her when he did. And the last one was a minute ago, asking again if they had left already.
"I will invite her to talk, okay?" Asher asked Elara while writing his reply at the same moment, letting Madelyn know that he was fine.
Elara nodded, hugging him as he texted Madelyn.
"She will be here soon," Asher said, putting his phone back and hugging Elara.
"You really did well today," Asher said. "I know that you are strong and fast, but those monsters didn't have a chance against you."
"It's all thanks to you, Asher. Without your upgrades and boosts, I wouldn't be so fast or so strong."
Asher nodded, knowing that it was true, but on the other hand, he had only given her statistics, and she was the one fighting, the one dealing the damage. Those stats were helping, and she had them thanks to him, but in the end, she was the one killing the monsters.
