Guardian Ch. 04
Over the next four months, Joy and I, with the instruction, assistance and guidance of Lucy, mastered every operation and system of the Guardian.
Even grasping the theory, much less an expert command of every intricate and complex Guardian's systems, would not be have been possible if not for my enhanced mental capacity and access to the Brae's cosmic knowledge and wisdom.
Two months of practice was without moving the Guardian utilizing an advanced system similar to the flight simulator, used to train commercial airplane pilots. Next we started hands on flying around the dark side of the moon. When we became competent, we made two trips to Mars.
The distance to Mars is between 180 and 200 million miles from Earth, depending on the two planet's trajectory at the time of the journey. At the speed of light, 672 million mph, it would take between 10 to 12 minutes to go from the Moon to Mars. The Guardian was capable of attaining the speed of light and greatly beyond.
The Guardian was equipped with a warp drive propulsion system enabling four different drives, WD, XOD, FT & AGD.
The first, the most preferred for interstellar travel, was a warp drive, WD. Warp drive, enables the warping of space, distorting the space-time continuum, overcoming the constant of general relativity.
General Relativity states space and time are fused and nothing travels faster than the speed of light. It also describes how mass and energy warp spacetime, stars and black holes, planets, moons curve spacetime around them, what we experience as gravity.
Warp drive creates a bubble of mass and energy around the spaceship, curving spacetime, compressing space in front of it while expanding spacetime behind it reducing distances. The bubble's compression and expansion, propels the encased spaceship through the decreased distance of space.
The distance reduction means, although it's not possible to travel faster than the speed of light, the effective speed is faster than the speed of light. A spacecraft equipped with a warp drive may travel at speeds greater than that of light, by many orders of magnitude.
A spaceship using a warp drive does not leave the normal space-time continuum and instead the space-time itself is distorted. It does not permit instantaneous travel and transfers between two points, but rather involves a measurable passage of time interact with objects in normal space.
The basic functional principle of the warp drive is a strong energy source. In the matrix of the warp core high-energy plasma is generated through a controlled interaction fusion of various elements. The plasma energy is transported to the warp field generators, coils in the warp nacelles, via lines reminiscent of pipes.
The warp nacelles, protruding from the spaceship, create a subspace field, the warp bubble, which distort space-time and propels the bubble and spaceship in the bubble forward.
The greater the plasma energy sent to the warp nacelles the more compressed space in front of the spaceship which results, exponentially, in the effective increase speed. Starting at Warp 1 (the speed of light) up to Warp 25, which is more than 50 times Warp 24 and 1,000,000 times the speed Warp 1.
The Milky Way galaxy is about 100,000 light years across, a small galaxy, containing around 400 billion stars and at least 100 billion planets. A spaceship engaging warp drive at Warp 25, could travel from one end of the Milky Way galaxy to the other within less than a month.
The Milky Way is one of the 2 trillion galaxies found in the ever expanding Universe, which is currently 7 trillion light-years in diameter. Even at Warp 25 traveling to other near galaxies would take years.
Regardless of warp speed the space-time warp bubble encasing the spaceship remains the same size and inside it the space-time continuum remains normal.
The second and least used, although the fastest, of for interstellar travel, was a type of stable Einstein-Rosen bridge, XOD, where space-time continuum is bent on itself and connecting tunnel is created, commonly known as a black hole. The dramatically reduced distances significantly decrease the time needed to go from one point to another.
XOD had four main drawbacks.
End point coordinates are needed. Although I have access to accurate maps of most of the Milky Way galaxy, with precise coordinate, thanks to the Brae data base, there were areas not yet mapped.
Even though stable, the fluidity of the bend of the Einstein-Rosen bridge, did not lend to an accurate specific end location. A spaceship traveling the XOD may only end in the vicinity of the targeted location.
The short time the spaceship is in the black XOD tunnel, does not allow interaction with the normal space-time continuum. Like a person traversing a long hall between two rooms without sight, sound, touch, taste, or smell. Very disorienting and lacking in any aspect of the room.
Although XOD can be initiated by a different application of the warp drive system, it requires much more energy to operate and cannot be immediately used again for a couple of hours until the warp drive system regains the expended power.
The plus for XOD is a spaceship may travel immense distances in a matter of minutes, what would have taken hours, even at top warp speed.
For speed up to light speed, the fusion thruster, FT, aspect of the warp drive is used. The warp core's high-energy plasma, is not channeled to the warp field generators, allowing the warp nacelles to create the warp drive bubble. Rather the energy is directed to the fusion thrusters to propel the Guardian. FT is used in the zero gravity space between bodies in a star's solar system.
The last was the anti-gravity drive, AGD.
Gravity, the bane of air travel, is the universal force causing two bodies to be attracted, proportional to their masses. It holds everything down. When an object does escape it tenacious grasp, it is only temporary until gravity once again claims superiority.
Anti-gravity is accomplished by creating a non-gravitational field, freeing an object from the force of gravity. This accomplished when a powerful electric charge is channeled to a powerful magnet, in a super cooled environment, in the synchocomstron which producing an electromagnetic force field.
When the force field is applied, it negates gravity on a directed mass, the Guardian. It is used, in conjunction with the fusion thruster, FT, aspect of the warp drive, for propulsion in the atmosphere of a planetary body such as Earth or the moon.
With the absence of the gravity affect and the tremendous propulsion capabilities of FT, the flight performance of Guardian is fantastic. It can hover motionless and in an instant accelerate to a great speed, stopping or turning in fractions of a second.
The anti-gravity force field acts as an inertia eliminator on the applied mass. Accelerating, abruptly changing directions or decelerating has no effect on the g forces of the applied mass, Guardian or occupants. It is as if they were motionless.
A self-sustaining system, AGD, operates continuously, generating energy, powering all Guardian's other systems, from the warp drive's cores, the weapon systems, to the mundane such as Guardian's lightening and environmental conditions.
There is another form of Guardian transport that did not involve the ship's propulsion systems. I could teleport the ship to a known location. My teleport abilities are not limited by size of an object or distance teleported. I could teleport a star, across the universe if I knew the end point.
A precise knowledge of the end location point, is required, the where and what. Transport to an unknown end point is possible but is reckless and dangerous. Joy and I were immortal but Guardian could be damaged as well as what was at the end point.
We did not come close to the speed of light, less than a quarter of it, which took a little over 8 hours to go on first trip. We flew around the planet three times at an altitude of 50 feet before landing and then leaving immediately. Our return was instantaneous when I transported the Guardian back to our base on the moon.
On the second trip we transported to Mars and flew back. The piloting and transporting on both trips went with a hitch.
On the next training exercise we flew to Earth and spent six hours crisscrossing the planet, cloaked, silently invisible to all the methods of detection. We hovered over most of the major cities and military institutions, worldwide, landing numerous times, Central Park, New York, Red Square, Moscow, The Forbidden City, Beijing, to name a few. All were undetected.
We made several such visits to Earth
We took a several short trips out of the Solar System into the Milky Way galaxy, attaining light speed of light and at times incorporating WD.
During this time I became adept in the use of the truly awesome talents, abilities and powers I had been bestowed.
I conducted, via the Brae, an intensive and comprehensive study of the Koogar. They had left their supply base on a conquered planet with an armada of 9 ships each with a compliment of a five hundred Koogars.
They would leave 3 ships with its compliment of personnel at each conquered planet for enforcement.
At the first conquered planet, messages were conveyed to home base which would send transport ships carrying personnel and supplies. It would take over twice as long for the supply ships to arrive as it did the invasion force. The message would travel at light speed but still would take a long time and the supply ships were slower than the war ships.
The conquered planet would act as the next supply base. In this way they hopscotched across the galaxy.
The last conquered planet was 4 light years from Earth and the last 3 ships of the Koogar armada had departed 5 years ago heading toward Earth.
