[Day 28 | Day 9 at Topaz Island]

I wake up again to an odd position. Rin had climbed over me again. This will be awkward tonight if both of my girls want to sleep on my chest. Or maybe Hana will also climb, so I'll just have two girls piled on top of me when I awaken. I gently reposition her with telekinesis.

..This puts her rear within perfect range of my hands. I really can't get enough of them. The perfect mixture of squishy and firm, in a soft, smooth package. My manhood shows its appreciation for her fantastic bod, poking against her leg and waking her up. "Hmm..morning," she mumbles at me. "You're excited early. Don't you have a lady later today? You insatiable man."

I command the house to bring the lights up to a dim setting while I aim a kiss at Rin's voice. It connects. "My body can't help itself when the woman I love presses herself against me."

She smirks, then brings her hands up to her face. With only her index and middle fingers extended, she kisses her two fingers, then presses them to my penis. "Ask me any time, and I'll show you that love." She stretches up to give me a peck, then gets up. "But Hana is coming back today, so I'll let her have a turn before Ban'yun has you for a few days after. Love you!" And she walks out the door.

Heh. She's wonderful. I really want to feel said love again sometime.

I shake my head. Let's get on with the day. What needs to happen? Well, obviously the sixth woman will be along eventually for me to stud. I have to finish the shrine, altar, whatever today... Which of those sounds less religious? Shrine, I think. Let's go with that. Mostly I need more Topaz portals. So I think I need to set aside a stock of them. But, I also want the shrine's Topaz to be larger so it can fit through the Gate scroll if I need to for whatever reason. If Hana is coming back today, I'll want to set aside some time for her. Sex if she's in the mood, simply my company otherwise. I kind of want to ask Wed about soundproofing materials at some point. But maybe only for Rin's cart, I like hearing the crickets and other night time noises. If I do soundproof only Rin's cart, I'll make love with Rin in her home instead of mine, unless we're alone in the camp. I'll have to ask Rin how she feels about that.. Well, she's still in camp, let's do it now.

I toss on some clothes and jog over to Rin's home. She left the door open, so I pop my head in. "Hey Rin, question for you."

She looks over at me. She's getting dressed. Unfortunately, all the goods are covered. What a pity. "What's up Grey?" She must have picked up the neutral tone in my voice, as she's no longer trying to get a rise out of me.

Me, "I want to talk about soundproofing your cart. If we do, we can safely enjoy our private time together without anyone hearing you. There's been nobody around

to

hear you in the past, but since you're, ah, exuberant during sex, it means I won't have anywhere to make love with you when we're traveling."

She blushes more and more as I talk. I guess she's still nervous about others knowing. "Um. I see. Either your cart or mine is fine. How... loud am I?"

Me, "Fairly loud. But don't feel self conscious; I enjoy it, truly." She takes a deep breath and nods. Hmm, perhaps a little more reassurance is in order? I am having a hard time telling, but better too much than not enough.

I step into the house, walk up to her, and give her a big hug. Her arms are pressed against my chest. "I like you just the way you are. Don't worry about the little stuff." I stroke her hair.

After a little bit, I back away. Rin looks up at me, and nods, face becoming confident. "I won't worry about it, then."

Me, "Good." That's all I had, so I head out.

Alright, let's start with checking in. I use Gate to check in as usual. Fre is there for me again today, passing along a message that Wed would like to attend my marriage, and to summon him the morning of the next day. I deliver the cubes I made, and that's that.

Next was... Right, a large Topaz. I grab a good size hunk of Topaz from the site around the bath, and mash it into a rough sphere while I walk over to Sentral. About an inch and a half in diameter. I enter Sentral's box, nod to the golem (no response), and grab a scroll. I stick the Topaz to a wall for a sec, and tighten the roll on the scroll. Yup, smaller than 1.5 inches. Safe.

I put the scroll back on the shelf, and unfuse the Topaz. Time to spin and cut.

- - -

... easier said than done. It takes me three hours to get the sphere's shape and cut right. Larger spheres give me more opportunities to mess up, it seems, but I eventually manage.

I fuse both halves to opposite walls, facing in, activate them, and have Sentral float a scroll through them. It comes out on the other side just fine. Excellent. I clean up the experiment, then take some Jade to make a single use tablet for one half. 'Topaz Island Shrine' I inscribe, then fuse in one half of the larger hemisphere, facing out. It's still covered with Jade, but I can peel it back if I need to send something through. I fuse it to the wall next to the 50 bird one. Hmm. I craft another tablet, inscribe 'Satellite 1, Jericho' and take the relevant Topaz and shove it in. With this one, I point the portal side at the wall.

Let's check in on that. I open the portal, and connect to the satellite. I look down, and while the planet is still massive, it's further away. The divide between night and day is roughly below me. So far so good. I reverse the view and appreciate the stars for a moment, then disconnect. Alright, let's finish the shrine.

I start towards the village, but some kid intercepts me on the way to the shrine. "The chief wants to talk to you. Can you do lunch now?"

I shrug, and tell him "Sure." What's the stew today, I wonder. Well, I already know. They're still trying to use the meat of that monster. No complaints though.

It is, as expected, Sea God meat. Seems they're trying a new spice blend. Less spicy, more.. I can't quite describe it. Something between tangy and citrus.

The chief sits down. "Hello, Chief A'yado. I hear you wanted to talk?"

He nods. "Hello, Grey. Yes, I did. I ask your understanding, today's woman no longer desires to be gifted a child today. They have a situation and have requested your patience."

Huh. Bummer. "Okay, not a problem. I hope they are doing okay."

He nods. "They'll be fine. No other women from our tribe have volunteered today, so perhaps another tribe would be interested."

Me, "I'll think about it." I won't think about it, I'll just play with Hana, or save it for tomorrow's time with Ban'yun. "New spices today?"

He takes a bite. "Different lead cook. Different people spice the meat differently. When I lead, I use too much, and people complain. I no longer lead from the kitchen." He chuckles. "They don't understand that more is better. A shame." He smiles as he takes another spoonful of stew.

A few others join us and talk about the Sea God corpse. It was decided that the corpse had degraded too much, and they rolled it back into the sea. Too much of the collected meat was unusable, and the problem would only get worse, so further harvesting ended there. But they've got enough meat stocked to last for weeks. Probably. One of the tribesmen says, "The cooks are preserving it as though it were fish meat. Nobody really knows the best way to preserve it, so some of the meat was set aside to try other methods. Some of the meat from different sections of the beast seems different from other sections, so it will take them time to figure it out."

I guess it's like how one part of pigs becomes bacon, another part is used for ham, and yet a different part is for pork?

A'yado finishes his meal, nods at everyone at the table, and leaves. I stand up as well, wave, and go to the shrine.

First things first is hiding this hemisphere in the shrine somewhere. I decide to put it in the skull, in a thin layer of Jet, to prevent discoloration by protecting it from the sun. Once fused in, I connect to the shrine, open the portal, and feel it temporarily merge with Sentral's box, and Sentral itself, on the other side.

Oh, that reminds me. I sit in the altar and place my hand on the floor. 'Sentral, are you upset that I ask you to do things for me, including emptying the waste water?'

'No,' comes the reply.

Me, 'Tell me if that changes.'

'Yes.'

Guess that's that. 'Please empty the house carts waste water into the nearby forest away from humans.'

'Yes.'

I close the larger portal, and I'm just connected to the shrine again. I work on bringing more Topaz onto the skull to complete it.

I'm nearing the end, only parts on top out of sight are missing, when Β¬I'm home= where are you dearΒ£)Β¬

Β¬welcome back Hanamaya)Β¬ I think it's Hana, anyway. Β¬I'm at the big orange skull in the village)Β¬

Β¬huhΒ£)Β¬

She drops the connection, so I keep working. I got the impression from her that she is on her way to see for herself.

I'm not kept waiting long. A cute girl riding a heavily panting not-tiger lopes up to me next to the trophy skull. "Woooooow! And you put it all in Topaz!"

Me, "Yeah, turns out there's an insane amount of the stuff offshore. Sentral has been harvesting a lot of it. I'll probably swap out a lot of my home cart's gem with Topaz at some point, and make it thicker. That's a lot of work though."

She gets off the beast, which collapses, panting heavily.

Hana ignores it. "No headaches?"

I smile. "Not at all."

She smiles back. "Good." She turns around and gestures at the kurs. "That one is going to die soon. I broke some part of its mind when I crushed it, and it turns out it needs that part to live. It's not in any pain, but it can't keep food down anymore." She looks back at me. "I'm going to have it killed and turned into a fur."

Works for me. "Alright. Its fur is like sandpaper though, won't it be uncomfortable?"

Hana, "Sandpaper?" She connects to my mind again. "I suppose, yeah. I'll see if they can do anything about that. If not, it's just a trophy."

I walk over to the kurs. It's still fucking huge. I don't know how the people here fight these things, it seems like a guaranteed death. Though I'm given to understand that's exactly how it plays out when you're ambushed by one. I'm probably being a sentimental idiot, but I feel for the animal. I give it a hug. "Goodbye, fatal feline. I hope you lived a good life before you tried to kill my woman." It doesn't respond to me.

Alright that's enough silliness for one day. Back to work.

Hana leans against the cat. "Got some time to talk about your 'wedding' tomorrow?"

I take my hands off the skull. "Yeah, what's up?"

Hana, "This shrine looks like a good place to say your vows and hand over the flower. Can you put up a large roof, so people won't get wet?"

I look up. "Yeah, sure. Wouldn't it be easier to do it after the rain though?"

She narrows her eyes a bit and smiles at me. I feel a bit of mischievousness from her. "Trust me on this. Your first time with her will be more memorable this way."

Deal! I smile back. "Got it. Anything else?"

Hana, "You'll need to get a 'haddur' flower from a nearby mountain. It blooms partway up. With Sentral, you can probably get it in about half an hour. It looks like this." She sends me a mental image of an odd dainty white flower... well, okay. "For the vows, there's a traditional vow which I think matches up with what you think you're getting yourself into. 'Until we are dust; let us join our lives; giving all; for each other and our children. Ban'yun be mine; and Grey will belong to you; forever; until the day we both return to the ground.'"

It doesn't rhyme when I mentally translate it, but it has a nice flow in the islanders' language. Amusingly, the flow is tripped up by my short name; nearly every islander has two syllables in their name, mine only has one.

Hana, "The woman's version is slightly different and more about bearing children."

Huh. "I like it. I'll think about any alterations I want to make, if any."

She nods. "After the ceremony, you will go off and have sex. She and I came up with something I think you'll like. You can come back after that, or you can go to sleep. The chief would rather you not use the Garden anyway, since she won't be getting pregnant."

Heh. "That's fine. I've had enough intimacy with many eyes watching." Hmm... "Hana, if I encased the flower in Topaz, would that be a problem?"

Her eyes widen. "OH... that's so romantic! I don't think there will be a problem, but bring back two flowers, just in case."

Sounds good. "Maybe I'll just get them today?"

She shrugs. "If you want. Take me with you, if you decide to. I'm going to get lunch first, talk to A'yado, then a few others, and maybe prepare another picnic? I won't get you much to myself for a few days, I'd like a tender moment while we're away."

I take her hands into mine. "Absolutely. We'll go to the mountain together. I'll grab the nonperishables, will you grab the food?"

She stands on her toes, tilts her head up, and closes her eyes. I lean down and kiss her.

She holds it for a few seconds, and breaks. Her face is flushed, and I

feel a bonf-

she abruptly disconnects.. I close my eyes and shake my head, whoa.

Hana, "I'll..." she swallows, "I'll grab the snacks then! You get a water crystal and some cups as well. The mountain is to the northeast, so make sure a couple birds are that way alright?"

She jogs off, and the cat gets up on unsteady legs to follow her. For my part, I connect with Sentral, find the basket, stock it with the towel... cleaning it off first remotely with some detergent and water. Then the rocks, then cups, a water crystal, and a couple of Ban'yun's furs go in. I have Sentral carry them both over separately, so the towel can dry.

When the towel gets here, I toss it over the perched bird, and set the basket nearby, with a bit of pure Topaz for the flower. I finish off the shrine work and think about travel plans. Once I have Hana's sign-off, I think we'll be good to go to Friegheim after Port. I doubt Ban'yun will care where we go, I'm not sure she's even seen a map yet. We can talk about it on our way over.

I stand back and admire my handiwork. It's a bit too orange, but.. Whatever. Semi-circle arch to walk under at the front, burn area in the middle with rain shield. Near the back is the flip out Gate holder. And behind that is an imposing looking fish monster's skull with teeth exaggerated by my gem work. Oh, it's not raining now. I should test it.

I connect to the shrine, and have it open the Topaz portal to Sentral. Now connected to both, I have the amalgamation golem open a Gate scroll near Sentral's box. I flip open the gate block in the shrine.. And yes, it's fully unfurled in the action. No need to have Sentral use its gimmicky arm, because Sentral is now connected on this side. Everything seems to be in order. I step through the gate, exiting near Sentral's box. I close the Gate, then have Sentral fold up the scroll block on the other side. I take a glance through my gem sense, everything looks good. I close the Topaz on this side.

Then I do everything in reverse, and step out at the shrine.

Excellent! This should mean I can return to Topaz Island at will, as long as I have access to Sentral's cart.

Hana is waiting for me on the other side. "Testing the Shrine?"

Me, "Yup. Want to make sure I can come back at any time. This island will be a home base of sorts, at least until Friegheim."

Hana, "Why Friegheim?"

Me, "I'll tell you on the way. Shall we go?" I pick up the basket, and we head off to the southeast.

I immediately saw which mountain she was talking about when I sent a bird that way. It isn't too far, about three miles? Not a terribly tall mountain either, but high enough that scaling it would be daunting if I didn't have my abilities.

We walk at a fast pace, despite the underbrush. No point dawdling, and we're both enhanced as hell.

Me, "So about home base. Wed talked to me the other day about going to Friegheim first, dropping off about half of the crew who aren't okay with dangerous places like Kengen, and they'd start a company there, and portal us any gems etc that they find."

Hana, "That sounds reasonable. Friegheim sounds like a fun place to go, I'm just a little worried we're visiting all the fun places first, and the rest might not be so enjoyable. Still, there's logic to his request."

Me, "We can decide where to go after that. I think something like... Kengen, Lake Omega, revisit Al Ruheibi, Jianhoku... maybe."

Hana, "That all sounds good. As for the company, it would probably be easier to buy an existing company. This way they have some legitimacy, and it comes with employees. But I'll leave it up to Wed to decide. He might want to keep it smaller."

The mountain is getting closer. I can see it through some of the trees. This weird land, with its purple grass and vined trees, I've started to get used to it. Will it be weird to see trees without vines, a sky without mist? Probably.

Ah, right. "Hana, just so you know, Rin and I had a little, hmmm... disagreement while you were gone."

For a moment, I saw a shadow of a smile, but I think I imagined it. She looks concerned now.

Me, "We apologized and made up. We're okay now. Just wanted to mention it happened, so you're not surprised if you see it in my mind."

She nods... and then, "It looks like hurtful things were said. I hope you can be patient with her about Getten, I recently learned that he had to watch as his sister was violated. So she probably didn't take what you said very well."

Well, that's a knife in the gut. "I'm sure she forgave you. She probably didn't mean it in the first place, like you didn't. The important thing is that you made up."

I smile. We did. And it was magnificent.

She giggles at me. "It sure looks like it. I didn't know she could breathe underwater! And

of course

you immediately used it to have sex with her in a weird way. What a wolf I've fallen in love with."

I remember it briefly. It was nice, but it would have been better if the damn fish had stopped bumping into me. Mostly I loved it because I was on a high of adrenaline from chasing Rin and jumping out of the water with her, so when we came together with a kiss, and then made love, it all just felt

so right

...

She smiles at me. "I'm glad she's with us. But I'm going to have my turn with you today. I've got a little something special planned."

I feel part of my pants suddenly become too small for my volume.

She smiles, and we continue.. running? I hadn't even noticed we'd sped up this fast. I don't feel tired at all. Tall grass, vines, and branches stand in my way, and I just plow through them, sometimes lifting a hand to break the branch away from my eyes, but otherwise going at nearly a sprint.

We arrive at the mountain in about an hour. Hana or I occasionally bring up a conversation topic, but mostly it's running in silence. Here at the base, it doesn't slant up too sharply. "So according to the tribesmen, the path up is marked with some poles and decorations."

That sounds conspicuous. I have the bird nearby look at the base of the mountain; blessedly it isn't too wooded. There. "It's just a little ways off to our left." After dashing over, we see it.

Me, "Steep, but it's not a sheer mountain face climb."

Hana, "This shouldn't be too bad. Let's go!"

She starts up the path, a nearly forty degree slope, so I follow. The footing is a bit treacherous, but my agility ring sees me through. Hana seems to be having no troubles either.

The climb would have been incredibly exhausting to the me in the past. As it is, I've barely broken a sweat, and even that I attribute more to heat than exertion.
