[Day 13 | Day 5 at Karmm | Day 1 of traveling to Port Juhatara]
The rest of my night is a peaceful slumber without further interruptions. When I wake up, I get dressed, and grab some breakfast... Nuts and some citrus-type fruit Hana bought on her shopping sprees sound good.
I notice Hana and Getten having a chat. Getten looks unhappy. Before I can join them though, she slaps him across the face. The noise... sounds painful. She turns to walk away, but notices me and connects. Β¬he said something a man shouldn't say to a woman# but because I'm an esteemed Lady I have already forgiven him)Β¬ She goes to her cart. Getten looks stunned for a little while, and then rubs his cheek.
In that case, it's not my problem. What
is
my problem is that I still haven't gotten this scroll out to where it needs to go. I pick out a scroll, and ... hmm, I don't have a way to protect it from the rain. Well, the sky looks clear. There shouldn't be rain today. Still, this thing's pretty big. I resort to telekinesis to unfurl it.
It's roughly 15 ft square. There's a lot of glyphs and shapes on it. I order out a golem, then have Sentral hold the scroll up and open with telekinesis. I pull out another scroll and have Sentral hold that open as well. They're both deployed about 20 feet away from each other. Well, let's give it a try.
I touch the paper and push in mana. As advertised, a portal appears, square, but leaving about 3 inches of paper on the edges. When the portal opens, there's some odd noises... like static, shrieking metal, and a... hum? somewhere below what I can hear? It's hard to explain.
Stepping in front of the Gate, I see myself on the other side, specifically my own back. I turn around, and I use telekinesis to grab a stick from the perimeter and move it through... And then the portal closes; it's drained my mana completely. The stick itself is launched out beside me, hitting a cart. Whoops... I'm glad that didn't hit anyone, or the other scroll, shit. Good to know it has a failsafe and won't bisect anybody if it closes while they pass. Still... Hmm. Yeah, I can see why it's not useful to people. That was not nearly enough time to get anything large through. ...I guess I should hook up Sentral next. Its mana pool is much larger than mine ever since mining village Farnn.
I order a golem to stand next to my scroll, and have Sentral bring the other scroll to itself, touching the paper to the gemstone. Carefully monitoring Sentral's mana reserves, I have it activate the scroll. It's mana drops ~2% to activate... then drops at about 1% per five seconds. Okay. I command the golem to walk through the gate. No problems, it comes out on the other side. I walk through myself, and... Yeah, here I am on the other side. I have Sentral cut the connection. Only 10% mana gone. We'll have to be organized and fast, but we can definitely get everyone through before Sentral is out of mana. The issue will be getting Sentral itself through. Bet I can solve that by giving it an external arm. It will hold the paper to maintain the connection while it moves itself through. I can't test that now though. Even though my headache and discomfort are gone, I have a promise to keep. I resolve to attempt it this evening.
I remember what else I have planned this evening. I'll be bedding Rin for the first time. She's a pretty girl. That long hair will be new for me, I've always wanted to fuck a girl with long hair. Her breasts are nice. She's pleasant all around, but Hana seemed confident I'd really enjoy myself. Is she also a great kisser? I have no shortage of kinks, so I have to assume she fits one of them. I run through several of them in my mind, envisioning what I'd like to do with any number of them.
I shake my head. Let's save my lust for Rin. I've got work to do. I store one of the scrolls back inside Sentral, and for the other, I manually control the nearby biped so that it carefully grips the scroll, carrying it in such a way that its arm blocks it from stray branches and such... probably. Wait. Am I an idiot?
I release it, then take the scroll myself. I call over one of the birds. I have Sentral hold the scroll telekinetically near the bird. It floats as I expect. Much easier.
I have the bird golem depart, with 10 more birds following. Sentral is tasked with having a biped follow at a distance, so that I have defense on point if needed. The plan is, once my telepathic connection grows fuzzy, I have one bird backtrack a little, find a perch with a bit of sun and away from human eyes, and simply act as a telepathic relay. The biped immediately lags behind the fliers, but that's okay. The fliers, and the scroll, are safe. I sit down on a chair, close my eyes, and look through the eyes of the birds. Beautiful. Today is a vacation day for me, so I decide to enjoy it for a little while, big smile on my face. I grab the stack of blindfolds Fre kindly purchased on my behalf, equip one, and take my Zone ring off so I can focus on the view.
Not long after I take a seat, I hear someone. I call out to her, "Hey, Hana, want to fly with me again?" I hold up a spare blindfold, which is taken from me. I aim and...miss? Oh wow, that's embarrassing, it's been a while since I missed like that. Like having my voice crack in conversation at age 23.. Though this body is 20ish, might happen again! I try again to connect, deepen (something seems weird?), then share the vision of my birds. I feel shock, and then wonder spill through the connection. What's going on... Oh, it's not Hana. Oops. I'm surprised she accepted, honestly. I check Sentral's Zone, and throw a connection to Hana too, and share my vision. I knock on Getten. He refuses, but does walk over. "Hey kid. Want to see the world from a thousand feet up? We're currently enjoying the sight of the bird golems."
Rin's voice is strained. "It's so beautiful... I can see so far, the trees, the mountains. Even the clouds are closer. Do you... Watch this every day?"
Me, "Usually yeah. Give me a few weeks, and I'll try to rig a bird that will respond to your control. For now you'll have to live with my piloting it."
I'm not paying attention to Getten, so I don't know what he's doing. After a long moment, he says "Yes, please. I want to see it, too."
I vaguely gesture at the blindfolds, toss him a connection, and share the vision with him as well. "It's pretty nice, isn't it?" I decide to keep dialogue out of telepathy for now. This hop forward is faster than I planned, I thought a deepened connection would be disagreeable to Rin, but I still want to introduce one thing at a time.
Rin, "Pretty nice, he says... It's beyond comparison. I don't..." I note distantly that she's crying.
I let her have her moment. It is nice.
Hana seats herself on my lap, and I smile and hug her. She declines my mental question towards the blindfolds, and simply closes her eyes.
The flight continues. The connection starts to fray... I bring the flock back a few hundred feet and leave them circling in the air while I take a different bird and land it on a tree. I posture its wings so it shouldn't be able to lose balance, and dig its talons into the branch. Link secured, I rejoin my sight to the flock and move us on.
When I take us to the second stop, Hanamaya puts a kiss on my cheek, then whispers to me, "I've got something to take care of in town. I'm going to need Getten's help. It'll be just you and Rin for at least 6 hours, I wonder what will happen..."
She leaves the link, and gets off my lap. It feels a little colder, but I'm sure it's just in my head. A short moment later, Getten leaves the link as well. I watch with Sentral's zone as Hana grabs some things, and they leave the encampment.
I telekinetically grab a new blindfold and move my blindfold up. "Rin."
She pushes her blindfold up, opens her eyes, and looks at me. I float the blindfold in front of her, and after a moment, she replaces her damp one.
Me, "Could you sit on my lap before we resume flying?" I send an image of what I'd like.
Her eyes widen, and she looks around; it's just us two. She blushes furiously, but does as I ask. Lifting her leg, she sits with her butt against my hip and her side leaning against me. I wrap my arm around her waist, and put a hand on her thigh, then close my eyes. "We'll take it slowly. Now, let's resume."
We fly longer, to the third landing. It goes as the others did.
I feel a question from her. "What is it? Ask me."
She eventually does, "Why do you leave a bird behind?"
Me, "I can only reach so far with telepathy. This extends my range, by using the birds to relay the mental link."
Rin, "I didn't know telepathy could be used like that..."
Me, "I'm really glad it can, it's how I will maintain our emergency exit, in case we ever need to leave in a hurry. "
We fly on. By the time we reach the fourth stop, I think she's forgotten she's on my lap. Probably without meaning too, she's sending pleasant feelings over the link, enjoying the flight with her whole heart.
