It was just an ordinary day at the palace when I spotted a letter lying on the ground. I picked it up secretly and retreated to my room. Lying on my bed, I carefully opened it. Inside, I found an invitation to a masquerade ball. I was bewildered and surprised because in our palace, there were only three of us my parents, my father, and my mother. I had no siblings, and I never imagined my parents doing something like this.
They were always seen as the noble and righteous king and queen, praised for their fair rule of the country. But here I was, holding an invitation to a masquerade, and I didn't know who it was for. The invitation included directions to the castle where the masquerade would take place, as well as the date and time of the event.
Since I was skilled in crafts, I decided to make a copy of the letter and all its contents. I carefully placed the copied letter back where I had found it, eager to discover which of my parents was involved in this mysterious event. The day of the masquerade drew near, and I concocted a story to slip out of the palace unnoticed, free from the watchful eyes of the guards.
I prepared myself for the masquerade and made my way to the castle where the event was to be held. The castle was a towering, Gothic structure, and the event was scheduled for nighttime. I felt a mixture of fear and excitement as I had never been to such an event before. When I entered, I donned my mask, ready to uncover the secrets concealed by both the revelers and my own parents.
The event was a lively gathering with both men and women. There was loud music playing in the background, and everyone was wearing masks. Many attractive people were socializing, sometimes even intimately, including same-sex couples. It was all very new to me, as I had only heard about such things before.
My main goal was to find one of my parents and ask them about this strange behavior. It was quite unusual compared to what I was used to. However, my attention was diverted when I saw an exceptionally beautiful person in a quiet corner. They looked at me with a mix of curiosity and desire. We locked eyes for a brief but intense moment that felt much longer.
