A Drow's Dilemma began as a one-on-one roleplaying project and has been converted into a chapter-by-chapter format for weekly posting with the permission and assistance from my partner. Episode 137: Switched

In the end, Ashyr decided to go with Dahlidir to Risa's realm. It was about time to turn in for the morning anyway (not that Ashyr kept a normal sleep-wake cycle now that she had a baby to care for). The two of them were greeted at the entrance by Risa. She, of course, immediately knew that Dahlia had hitched a ride in Caleldir's body. Ashyr helpfully explained the situation; Caleldir was busy but his body had work to do here. It was the truth. It was not the whole truth. Dahlia wasn't going to reveal the whole truth.

"Port me to just outside the concubines, please, Risa," Dahlidir asked politely. "And then give my regards to Marigold. She's still visiting, I trust?"

"She is," Risa replied, narrowing her eyes at Dahlidir. "It seems that your plans changed, then?"

Dahlidir laughed. "Yes. Caleldir didn't instruct me to do this, but I wanted to see how long it would take for one of you to recognize me. But then Alycyrl showed up and it sort of fell apart there. Accounted for you. Didn't account for her."

"Mmhhmm," Risa said. "I suppose you decided to try to incubize him, then, or at least start the process, but it fell apart rather quickly. Dahlia dear, you had to know that it would not work." She looked at Ashyr, then leaned in close to Dahlia, whispering in the Succubus Tongue. "You probably have Selene too, don't you? Please return her soon. I understand that a succubus has got to do what a succubus has got to do, but really. You should know better. I expect better from you in the future." The pseudo-succubus stepped away, shaking her head in amusement. "Well, have fun with all the ladies who miss your master. I suppose that is one way he can give them what they want."

With that, the purple demigoddess warped away. Probably back to the library to scold Marigold.

"What was that about?" Ashyr asked, yawning. "I thought you started the incubization process the moment you became Caleldir's familiar."

"In a matter of speaking, yes. Risa is just annoyed with me because I was going to try to trick her," Dahlia said with a dismissive wave of her hand.

Ashyr narrowed her eyes at Dahlidir. "Where, exactly, are Selene, Caleldir, and Iondae?"

"Conducting an experiment, as Selene's letter said. In my new boudoir. The experiment is whether I can pass as Caleldir so that he could be in two places at once." That was the experiment now, anyway, and one that Dahlia knew Ashyr was very interested in. "He doesn't visit my succubi or your concubines. So now I'm making him visit both. Selene is along for the ride because she once mentioned that she thought succubization might be a good option for her nearer the end of her life, so I'm showing her what succubus life is like."

"You're not succubizing her now, are you? Because I would have to object to that; she's not ready yet!" Ashyr said with mild alarm in her tone.

"No, no, and if you're worried I'm lying, ask Aly. I gave her my word that your cousin won't be succubized until you give the say-so. There was a contract that I literally can't break," Dahlidir reassured Ashyr. "I will return them in a couple of days."

"Don't ask me for permission. Selene can be turned only if she wants to." Ashyr calmed down, but the suspicion didn't leave her expression. "They are not there of their own accord, then?"

"Not... exactly."

"And the letter was fake."

"Er, yes."

"Because you thought it would be fun to try to fool all of us instead of just outright saying that you took him because he wasn't doing his duty," Ashyr concluded.

"That is the gist of it," Dahlidir admitted.

The ranger rolled her eyes. "Have them back the day after tomorrow. Then we will gather the main 'harem' and have a long talk. Caleldir needs to pay more attention to the adoptees and your succubi and Althaia's nymphs, but we can't just have the leader of each decide to take him without consulting the others. There needs to be a, ugh, a schedule. A contract. As much as I hate letting my life be dictated by those."

"It's amazing that we haven't figured one out already! Ah, the fun is over. I'll have to find a new way to indulge in my succubus trickster ways," Dahlidir said in a playfully dramatic voice.

"I'm sure you'll manage. Though, I really like the idea you mentioned earlier: Caleldir, in two places at once. The ones who want to breed with him only need his body, right? You're fully viable?"

"Yup," Dahlidir said with a waggle of his eyebrows. "I could have all the concubines and their servants pregnant by the time I leave their cavern."

Ashyr grinned and shook her head. "Alright, I really have to get back to Uriel now. He'll need feeding again soon. Give Caleldir my love when you see him again. And don't make me send Althaia to go get him."

"Oh, I certainly do not want it to come to that," Dahlidir said emphatically.

Then Ashyr walked off and Dahlidir was alone. "That Risa never ported me!" he realized to himself. "I guess I'm walking..."

Dahlidir set to walking to the cavern where Risa had put the Duskhaven adoptees. Underneath the main manor in her dimension, it was accessed by a gently sloping and spiraling passage from the entrance to her dimension down. Lined with glowing mushrooms and some nice views of Risa's underground garden caverns spread out into the dim depths, many of the engineering students from Dinoryn were also descending to their rooms. Their eyes went wide to see 'Caleldir', and they awkwardly kept their distance.

The two part-nymph secretaries Dahlidir met coming up from the cavern were not so shy. "Master Caleldir!" Laele greeted him. "How did your time with Alycyrl go? We have just been informed by Lady Althaia that Lady Abanonda and the Great Matron Nirza will also be inducted into the Seven Dark Nymphs today, so we are on our way to the Nymph Grove."

"We are happy that all seven of us are finally going to be together," Elerra added. "Apparently, Nirza and Abanonda will not just be made into half-nymphs like the other five of us, but will be immediately turned into the first full Dark Nymphs! The very first of our kind will be born when the Moon rises again!"

"That is good news!" Dahlidir said happily. "I had better not keep you here, then. Have a good time!"

He continued down the passageway, resisting the urge to wink at all the women who were also making their way down there. He wanted to stay in the Caleldir guise here; winking and flirting would be far too out of character. He had even gone so far as to put on modest clothing. Caleldir was well known for his silly modesty. Dahlidir simply nodded gravely whenever one met his eye.

Soon, Dahlidir emerged into the cavern itself. A lot had changed since the adoptees had first started being gathered here. The place had gotten much larger, and much more organized. There seemed now to be four distinct portions to the growing complex, each with its own set of symbols identifying it.

The women who had come along with Dahlidir stripped off their clothing and left it all in an entry hall to the side of the cavern entrance, as Dahlia well knew. Not that Caleldir would have followed suit unless somebody in his main group, like Dahlia herself, had insisted on it. But Dahlia was not there to scold Dahlidir into complying with the Ellistraean home nudity.

As the word spread among the Duskhaven adoptees that 'Caleldir' was among them, a flurry of activity began. In about a minute, Administrator Zesinil approached, her dark face beaming with delight. "Lord Caleldir!" she began brightly. "To what do we owe this honor? About half of us were just with you at the wedding not long ago, after all, so we dared not hope for a visit so soon!"

Dahlidir managed a guilty look. "When I saw all of you, I realized that I had not been paying enough attention to the women here. I need to get into the habit of coming down here more often, so I did not put it off when it came to mind this time. This place has changed much since I was last here." Or, at least, Caleldir was last there. Dahlia was there rather often to consult and visit. "Can you show me around?"

"Of course, Lord Caleldir!" Zesinil said with far more respect than drow ever showed males. Or used to ever show males. "As you know, our most honored and esteemed Matron, Lady Ashyr, appointed me as the organizer and administrator of the Adoptees. As there are a lot of us, and we will never be 'true' Duskhavens in the same way as Ladies Ashyr, Selene, Sidhriia, or even the three children the honored Sornamal is taking care of, I felt it appropriate to organize us into Branch Houses based on themes. Originally I had intended to just set up a system where we could start our own Cadet Houses, but your most beautiful and intelligent first familiar, the lovely Dahlia, helped me to see things more clearly. So instead I set it up so that there are three branch houses underneath True Duskhaven: Duskhaven Moon, Duskhaven Silver, and Duskhaven Steel. Underneath them all is Duskhaven Glass."

As she spoke, she led Dahlidir around the complex, showing where each group was primarily housed. "The lovely Dahlia was invaluable to me to track down every single woman involved in that incident at Dinoryn. Did you know: not a single participant in that event whether student, staff, familiar, servant, or slave died in the collapse of Duskhaven Cavern? There were exactly 144 women who received your seed then, and they all survived. We think that you are so blessed by Ellistraea that merely by taking your essence within us we were able to more keenly feel the call to safety." Though Zesinil did an admirable job of keeping her tone light, the little glances that she gave 'Caleldir' made it clear that she was trying to see if he was going to call her on how full of shit she was.

Dahlidir rose an eyebrow. "I am not blessed by Ellistraea," he said before he could rein himself in. Her master was blessed by a much greater being than the mere goddess of Dark Elves. Humility. He needed to be humble. "Er, though, we do share a bloodline so perhaps your theory is more than just romantic."

That didn't sound very humble.

"I... um..." Zesinil suddenly became very shy, turning away from 'Caleldir' and rubbing her thighs together a bit as moisture dripped down them. "We... uh... heard from the Dark Nymphs that Ellistraea is your niece. That Aelsuna, Lilith, and Lolth herself are your siblings. Once we all heard that, we... um... well, it shocked us to learn that we all ra-," Zesinil stopped, realizing what she had just been about to say. "I mean, made love to a god. A very great honor. So... um..." Even under the obsidian sheen of her skin, the blush was obvious. "Anyway, of the 144 women who lovingly received your divine seed that day, we were able to verify that all of them survived. But we could only recover 80 participants. The other 64 were tragically lost to us first."

Inwardly, Dahlidir grinned. Outwardly, he cleared his throat and moved on with the conversation. "I think they will show up fairly soon. My 'most beautiful and intelligent' familiar said she has a lead." No point in hiding them anymore. They would likely have to be integrated into various houses now that most of them were established succubi. "Anyway, tell me more about these branch houses."

"Really? You think that Lady Dahlia has found who has been taking them?" Zesinil asked anxiously. "What about Alythrae of Oussett? She was my roommate at Dinoryn, and one of my only real friends. We were both studying the lore of Ellistraea in secret back at college, actually. We never liked Lolth the spider-bitch." Once again, her scarlet eyes looked sideways at 'Caleldir' to see if he was buying her historical revisionism.

"I'm sure we'll find many among you who are not fans of Aralolth," Dahlidir said dryly. "Dahlia did not mention an Alythrae, but she may be there. I think much will be revealed in the coming weeks."

"I hope she is safe," Zesinil said with more sincerity than she had yet shown. "Anyway! I should answer your question about the branch houses. I am the Dame of Duskhaven Moon, which has twelve members and three familiars. We in Duskhaven Moon are the more scholarly inclined; we and our daughters will do administrative work for House Duskhaven. We have seven former Dinoryn students, five former Dinoryn teachers, and three catgirl familiars. Nine of us have been confirmed pregnant.

"Dame Amana heads up Duskhaven Silver, from the more sociable and graceful of us. They will serve Duskhaven as diplomats, courtesans, artists, and entertainers. They have fifteen members: fourteen former students, and Dame Amana herself, who was a teacher at Dinoryn. Ten of them have been confirmed pregnant.

"Duskhaven Steel was gathered from the more... physical of us, and they will be Duskhaven's muscle: the captains and elite guards of our House. Their head is Dame Faetha, who... uh... was the... um... the second one to be blessed by you that day, as a former captain of the Mage-Guards of House Dinoryn. She... regrets not giving her name then." Zesinil coughed, once again looking very awkward. "Err... anyway, they have twenty members, eleven former students, and nine former soldiers of Dinoryn. Fourteen of them have been confirmed pregnant.

"Finally, Duskhaven Glass was not originally in my plan, but your beautiful familiar helped me to see that I should give the slaves who participated their own House beneath the other ones instead of leaving them as mere slaves. They and their bloodlines will be Duskhaven's servants, as they are not pure Drow-, I mean, not pure Dark Elves. As you are Ellistraea's uncle, your own children are considered even purer than their mothers, of course, but the thirty members of Duskhaven Glass are composed not of Dark Elves but of seven half-humans, five half-light elves, nine non-familiar catgirls, eight humans, and one halfling. They are led by Head Maid Greyheart the Half-Light. Twenty-two of them has been confirmed pregnant, including every human. Humans are very fertile, after all."

"That is... a lot of offspring," Dahlidir said, affecting mild distress. Internally, he wanted to do a little celebratory dance. But that would not be very Caleldir-like. "And you really don't have to skirt around the topic of rape. I keep saying this: if I held a grudge against every woman who did that, I wouldn't be with half my wives. Sometimes we even pretend-" Dahlidir coughed, cutting himself off as if he had not meant to say that much.

"Really?" Zesinil asked, something of a delighted smugness entering her tone.

"Anyway," Dahlidir continued like a man desperate to step away from that subject. "That seems to be an effective way to organize everyone, good work! I appreciate that you took care to include the servants. You may not completely grasp it yet, but it is very important to give servants their due respect. They work better that way. But I'm sure Dahlia lectured you enough on that topic."

Dahlidir swallowed nervously. "I'm not sure what you mean," he said in a tone that belied his words. It was clear from his tented trousers that he was aroused, though. "Er... perhaps we should inspect your living arrangements. And I should probably talk to the heads of the branch houses."

"Oh? So... you want me to invite the other leaders to a meeting and for us all to go into the bedrooms?" Zesinil purred. "Well, that certainly sounds reasonable. Just you and the four of us, right?"

Dahlidir affected a horrified expression that he quelled just in time for Zesinil to get a good look at it. "That was... er... well I..." he stammered while letting his face grow red. "Um. I should get to know them better, shouldn't I? Where we meet isn't really important."

"Well, you have had sex with all of us on two separate occasions, so in a way, you already know us very well." Zesinil licked her lips. It was clear that she was both very, very aroused, and extremely nervous. She slipped her hand into Dahlidir's trousers and fondled him directly. "Perhaps... you wish to... delegate some of your power? Outside this complex, you are absolutely in charge, for you are our god. But... inside this complex... perhaps you want things to be... different?" Her words were hopeful but questioning and thick with panting desire.

Dahlidir sucked in his breath through his teeth and suppressed a chuckle that rose to his throat. Zesinil was responding wonderfully to his hints. The dark elves here would be well primed for their interactions with the real Caleldir later. It was what he deserved for not taking the initiative and establishing the protocol that he wanted.

Not that he'd have a bad time here. He just wouldn't admit to it.

"As long as you're gentle..." he responded hesitatingly.

"Really?" Zesinil verified, barely able to contain her excitement. She let go of Dahlidir, then stepped back, letting out a long breath. "I want to just rape you right here and right now in front of everyone," she admitted. "But that would be unfair to those I am responsible for." It was clear that the woman was deeply struggling with her own urges. Every word was slow, hesitant, and deliberate as she mastered herself. "As Dame of Duskhaven Moon, I am responsible for administering all internal affairs of the mortal side of Greater Duskhaven. So... Master Caleldir, if you could step outside our area for... ten minutes, then we can properly begin your introduction to How Things Will Be. Or, if you do not have time, you can come back later. But I need to confer with everyone here."

Dahlidir swallowed. "Um. I have time. A little bit, anyway. A few hours."

He walked back outside the area, keeping the grin from his face. This promised to be a new experience for him, which was rare for a succubus. Usually, Dahlia liked being in charge and she was certainly not in the habit of turning male and having a bunch of dark elves gangrape her. Dahlidir felt a little differently about things. There seemed to be something encoded into his body that made him excited and turned on by the prospect of so many women taking his seed.
