"Hey Zoe, I got a surprise for you," my master said to me as we walked out onto the quad after his class.
"Really? What is it? Tell me, tell me! Did you finally want that cute puppy? Wait, did you get me a frisbee?!" I asked excitedly while staring up at him, my eyes full of wonder.
"No, not any of that... but, the rest of my classes today are all canceled and I'm going to be free this whole weekend! No projects, no studying, just plenty of free time," he said with a beaming smile.
"Seriously? Like, we don't have to go to the library at all? You don't have to read anything or study for a test?" I asked back, both shocked and happy at the same time.
"Nope! And since I have so much free time, I was thinking of giving you something special."
"What's that?"
"I'm going to grant you a wish!" he said with a wide smile.
"Huh? A wish?" I asked confused before continuing, "I don't know everything about you Henry, but I do know you aren't secretly a djinn. Trust me, I checked."
"Ok, ok, I may not be a djinn or anything like that, but I think I can be the one to grant you a wish for a change," he said, his eyes twinkling in the sunlight.
Not being able to stop smiling at him, I replied in an excited tone, "Really? What kind of wish?"
"We can do whatever you want this weekend and we'll spend the entire time together!"
"Are you serious?" I asked him, my eyes looking at him in absolute wonder.
"Of course I'm serious! You've been so supportive and patient with me that I wanted to do something special for you," he replied, making me blush slightly.
He then continued in a serious tone, but with a playful expression, "So, what is your wish, my mistress?"
There was only one wish that I truly wanted, but it was a wish I could never reveal to him. Instead, I wished it in my own heart. I wished that he would fall in love with me and free me from my servitude and confinement. I wanted that more than anything else in the world, but I was forbidden to ever speak of it. Even if I tried, my magic would betray me and stop me. I had to think of something else I wanted almost as much.
"Giving it that deep of thought, huh?" he said, and I realized I was lost in my own thoughts.
"Hmm...a free weekend with my handsome master...let's see, let's see...oh, I know!"
"What?" he replied quickly.
"Let's go away on a trip together!"
"Yeah! I'm totally down. Where do you want to go?"
"There is this incredible uninhabited tropical island that I've been to before, and it's one of the most beautiful spots in the world. We can walk the beach, go swimming, and most importantly, have the whole island to ourselves. What do you think?" I replied, talking so fast that I wondered if he was able to understand me.
"That sounds awesome, let's do it!" he replied instantly and I was smiling so widely that my cheeks started to hurt.
"Ok, let's just turn a corner where no one can see us and I'll zap us there!"
"Wait, hold on. Don't we need to prepare first? Like, bring different clothes at least?" he said cautiously.
"Oh don't be silly, we'll have the whole island to ourselves," I said eagerly before continuing in a low whisper, "and I have a feeling we won't have much use for clothes."
Giving him a playful wink, his eyes started to glow in lust. Looking around to see who was around, I grabbed his hand and started to lead him to a quiet area of the quad, next to a building where no one could see us. Looking around one last time, I smiled at him, squeezed his hand tightly, and snapped my fingers. My magic swirled around us and in the blink of an eye, we were suddenly standing on a sandy beach, with a hot sun beating down on us.
"We're here! I can't wait...to...uhh..." I said before trailing off as I looked at my surroundings.
We were standing on a sandy beach, on the most beautiful tropical island that I knew of, but we were far from being the only ones there. There were dozens if not hundreds of people all along the beach, some laying on towels, others playing in the ocean. Fortunately, our sudden arrival didn't seem to catch anyone's notice. Eyes wide with shock, I looked around more and saw huge, beautiful buildings near the beach. What the hell happened? This used to be a remote island that humans never explored before.
"Uhh...didn't you say this was a remote, deserted island?" Henry said next to me.
"It was deserted! At least it was like...a couple hundred years ago," I said, still a bit dumbfounded.
"Looks like this island is now a popular tourist destination with a fancy-looking resort too," he said, a bit surprised as well.
"Oh no...Henry, I'm so sorry. I really thought it would just be the two of us here. I feel so bad and I...uhh...I--"
"What are you apologizing for? This place looks amazing!" he said, interrupting me. "Sure, there's a bunch of people here, but that doesn't mean we can't hang out and have fun! We can probably get a super cool room at the resort too. C'mon, let's check it out!"
Grabbing my hand, he started to walk us off the beach and towards one of the big buildings nearby. I squeezed his hand tightly while looking up and marveling at him. He should be disappointed or upset with me, but he seemed...happy? I would have asked him to forgive me again, but it didn't seem like he thought forgiveness was necessary. The longer I looked at him, the more I felt a pain in my chest like my heart was being squeezed. After this trip, I really had to figure out what was wrong with my human body.
Walking a short distance, we entered an open-air lobby and he walked right up to what looked like a reception desk. Still holding his hand, I leaned into his strong arm while he asked someone if they had a room available. From the conversation, it sounded like this place still had some vacancies and he was soon handing her a small piece of plastic that I learned was called a 'credit card'. Within just a few moments, we had a room booked for the whole weekend, and apparently, it had an ocean view too.
"You are all set Mr. Williams, your room number is here on the cardholder. Let us know if we can do anything to make you and your girlfriend's stay more enjoyable."
My eyes widened in surprise. G--girl--girl...friend? Did she actually think I was his girlfriend?
"Thanks, will do!" Henry replied happily.
We started to walk away and it felt like my legs had fallen into quicksand. Wait...wait, hold on. What just happened? Why didn't he correct her? Did he really think of me as his girlfriend? Or was he simply too shy to correct her? My heart was pounding in my chest to the point where I could hear it in my ears. So many thoughts and emotions were swirling inside my brain that it turned into a jumbled mess and I couldn't make sense of it at all. Was it possible that he had feelings for me? Was it possible that he could be in love with me?
"Ahh, perfect! They have a swim shop here. Before we go up to our room, why don't we buy some swimsuits? Since, you know, we don't have the whole island to ourselves anymore."
"Huh?" I replied, so lost in my thoughts that I barely heard him.
"The swim shop? Don't you want to buy some new clothes while we're here?" he asked me again.
"Oh...y--yeah, th--that sounds great," I stammered in reply as we walked in, my heart still jumping in my chest.
"Ok, it looks like the men's section is on this side, and the women's is over there. Why don't we both pick out a few things and then we'll go try them on in the changing room?" Henry asked.
"Sounds good," I said flatly, still a little dizzy from so many thoughts running through my head.
